They cut this dialogue in the anime but in the manga during Reiner's flashback when him, Annie and Bertholdt are discussing what to do next and Reiner says they'll attack Wall Rose. His reasoning is that the same day their training corps class is in Trost is the same day the Survey Corps is going beyond the walls, meaning there'll be less defence which means even training corps cadets like them would be called into action to fight the titans which would give them the opportunity to disappear during all the chaos and pretend to be dead or slip into crowds of refugees heading for the Royal capital. Seeing this all so planned out is amazing since when you first see the colossal titan show up randomly behind Eren right after they've graduated, the timing seems too convenient and just done for shock value in order to make the story exciting. The whole reason why they went to Paradis was because the world’s technology were threatening Marley’s control of titan power. Exposing their titan form would give the enemy too much information for a counter tactic. Indeed as we did see countless time it was the Survey Corp’ ingenuity that overcame the power of the Titan shifter. Every time the shifters expose their power the Corp gained more information. Paradis also raised the concern for the Warriors because they actually have a military and weapons designed around fighting titans.
I actually think there's another reason the Marleyans joined the military, and also why they had to wait 5 years. Civilians can't go outside the walls, and it'd be pretty suspicious if one asked to go into Titan territory. And as the Marleyans have learned, the citizens of Paradis have no knowledge of the power of the Titans, so transforming inside of the wall could blow their cover if they're not careful. In fact, what happens when Annie's cover is blown is that the military is suddenly keeping an exceptionally close eye on all of Eren's classmates until their identity and loyalties can be verified, so that fear is well founded imo. I always asumed they waited five more years because their plan was to get promoted to the military police, thus accessing Wall Sina and getting closer to the royal family. In the meantime, they're learning everything about their military structure and resources to inform Marley (Zeke knows about the OMD when he first appears in S2 episode 1, for example). They just attacked in Trost because the moment was too convenient for not taking advantage.
@27:49 eren tells hans his mothers death is not hans fault. After watching the finale this is CRAZY with double meaning. In reality, eren is the one who sent the titan to eat his mother all along. So yes hans, its not your fault, it was eren all along.
Brooooo! I’ll add a similar comment on the last video in this series so you might see it, but thank you!!! Watching these videos is like having a conversation and recapping the series with my own overactive mind. Such a brilliant story and you hit and discuss the juiiiicyyy stuff! Loving the content, keep on broski
I was never under the impression that it was a backwards reward that only the top performers could join the military police. I always figured that it was the only way to fairly limit the number of people signing up for military police. If that rule wasn't there I don't think the other branches would see a lot of recruits.
If I recall the three Warriors plan was to become members of Military Police/Interior Police to get closer to the true ruler (since they thought that the true king of Eldia was still the Founding Titan). That's why they went through the whole cadet training and was probably a part of why they launched a second attack once they graduated when most of the cadets were at Trost.
i dont know what it is in the sub, but in the dub i really like how reiner is described as having the mind and constitution of a grass fed ox, which is 100% accurate imo
Thank you for analyzing this beautiful series! The 3 previous videos you did on Attack on Titan is making me few Attack on Titan differently and pay more attention to details so again, thank you :) I'm looking forward to any future analysis on Attack on Titan. Battle for Trost is one of my favorite arcs so this is gonna be good
Ya know, it's one of the reasons I personally prefer dubs to subs nowadays. He brings up at the end that Eren says to the colossal, "Hey. It's been five years." Which, mayhaps sounds good to the Japanese ear, but in English, sounds quite clunky. However, in the dub, this line is changed to, "Hey. It's been a while." Which hits a lot harder and has a far better ring to it. I like dubs because often the subs use very direct translations and in doing so a lot of times the tone of certain moments get lost. But dubs often change the lines to where instead of being direct translations, they are translated to English phrases and words that convey the actual tone and intent, as the two different languages have different rules and turns of phrase that just don't have the same connotation in the other.
I'm a Brazilian not fluent in English, so sorry if he's too... hard But, I've loved all the reviews of the series so far and I really want to see the rest. Attack on Titan is one of my favorite series and I'm very happy to find a good and obsessive analysis like this, lol. A small detail that I find interesting to debate is, if the Ackermans, when awakened, can't be considered Titans too? Because, sort of, being products of Titan science (and Eldians, par excellence), wouldn't they be small giants? Anyway, as the review avoids the manga, I won't comment on the small, and as seen in the review, cuttable scene between Eren and Annie at which she smiles. But, a functional detail of it, is that: If Eren > Reiner; and Annie > Eren; Annie > Reiner; fun to note that this is their MO because Annie is the most skilled even though Paradis technology presumably works much better on her than it does on Reiner, but, well, that's why Isayama made her a lone wolf
@Coração Acidental Maybe. But, the Ackermans in the series clearly have an emotional dependency, I believe this could be their "leash" and, in my opinion, what Eren wanted to break on Mikasa (unless he's come to appreciate her shitty and obsessive behavior) . Kenny dedicated himself to Uri precisely because of his strong ideal and understanding (derived from the memories of the ancestors) which Kenny didn't understand, Levi dedicated himself to Erwin because of his vision beyond the reach (lol) as a master strategist and planner something that Levi admired and while Mikasa saw in Eren a determination that she didn't have, which helped her in understanding a part of her world (and it's worth mentioning that she was the only one of the three who had this before developing her values and having to save her "chosen one". ", unlike the other two), besides, of course, her falling in love with her duality, the way he gave her affection and welcomed her into his family won her heart, although I find it strange the way she wants to possess it. it at the beginning of his life, very exaggerated and weird.
@Coração Acidental The only part I don't understand from your comment is: "but it never really happens with the other Ackermans", in Levi's past he has a scene extremely similar to Mikasa, Levi himself asks Mikasa if she has had any experiences with which he felt in full control of his body, mentions that he and Kenny also went through it, Kenny himself says that seeing Uri kneeling and asking for forgiveness made him feel a feeling he never felt before, just like Levi felt after see Erwin's determination and vision, the difference from Mikasa is that we saw the awakening of his instincts in a visual way (with her turning into a Pikachu), it's worth remembering that Archermans need to be in danger to awaken their instincts, and unlike the two, she lived an extremely peaceful life. And this theme of slavery between the two is something that makes a lot of sense, after all they are the only ones who keep such a simple goal without ever measuring the situation properly, unlike Armin, and even Jean on a certain scale, Eren a little less than Mikasa, but still both.
25:09 was 1000% in reference to eren WHOOPING reiners ass using annies technique later in the show. Its even pointed out by armin after we clearly see that hes using her technique. Not that anyone will see the comment ,just saying what i find quite obviously what it means
Armin doesn't get ripped because he transformed, he was already ripped, to the point where he's probably physically stronger than pretty much anyone you've met, the fact he is "the weakling" shows you just how demanding the world and that military is if you want to survive.
Being ripped does not mean you are strong, muscle definition and bodyfat have very little connection to strength, but I also agree with you on your point.
wait so the assaumption that armin and reiner are ripped because of titan transformation seems very wrong to me when eren was transformed as a child he was sill a scrawny kid armin and reiner just have strung out bodies because they are (dare i say elite-) soldiers
I think that the early shounen vibe for attack on titan is used a lot more to ease the audience into a false feeling of security, so it contrasts the rest of the series
I may be mistiming things but i believe on Reiner, Bert & Annie side, they couldn't communicate because of all the mindless titans being outside of the walls. On the Marley side, i don't think Zeke and others idly waited but rather had their own matters to take care of. Perhaps other wars etc.
Nope, that's why zeke appeared on the insland in season 2. He was checking their mission status since they went radio silent, Marley probably was engaged in other conflicts so they couldn't afford to keep close tabs on them also.
I also just want to chime in to point ot how, in retrospect, Porco would have been the worst possible armored titan. If put into Reiner‘s position in their five years on Paradis, Porco‘s irrational and overly emotional attitude would definitely have gotten the entire group found out and killed/captured.
@@MrRirate I‘m sure he would have been capable of seeing the ground move, getting almost grabbed and then watching his own BROTHER get grabbed and eaten within the span of a couple of seconds - and went berserk on Ymir‘s titan. That’s totally reasonable and not at all coping.
For those who might disagree that Armin is smarted that Erwin. Erwin scores a 90 across all stats, very talented in everything. Armin is a min maxer. He has 100 for intelligence but his charisma is lacking along with other stats. That’s just my random numbers to help explain it

12:41 not true, but from his point of view, he doesn't know how Levi got to where he is. He was never trained in the military. So he is definitely referring to all the trainees he has seen and heard of. Obviously elite members of the survey corps are not comparable to someone in training, so the comparison doesn't even come to mind.
ok when i watched the show for the first ever time i actually formulated a plan of my own to fix the walls without erens power, because i thought "yeah this could be possible given enough time and effort" here was my plan: step one, secure the periphery districts in the east north and west, we do have a time limit for this mission but i would prioritize the west to be cleared first, as its the most important for the early plan. step two, transport people into the west periphery district now that its emptied, instead of that suicide mission their goal is simply to make it to that periphery district and try to become self reliable over there, this would draw titans to the west side of wall maria because titans are drawn to higher populations, i would also try to shift the internal population of wall rose to the west a bit, to try to bribe the titans to the west even more. step three, after a year or two id send a small party of skilled soldiers to the west periphery district in order to relay a message: "climb the wall and travel to the north periphery district and secure a base there." this would shift the titans to the northwest part of the wall. as people are now split between the north and the east periphery districts as well as those within the wall rose. step four, now a smaller team will be sent to clear the eastern periphery district but not to make a base there, there they will climb the walls with supplies and head south towards the breach and seal both sides, the lower titan population due to the earlier preperations would allow for the construction to be slightly easier and the wall could be retaken within a decade or two. of course this went off the idea that this was not a planned attack on the walls and that i didnt know the titans contained humans, but this plan would totally have been better than "aight lets sacrifice the refugees with 0 plan" also little side note how did nobody survive in those 3 other periphery districts, did nobody shut the gate between wall sina and the other periphery districts, did nobody take the people fleeing on horses seriously, like how did not a single soul survive in those districts like i knew those places were small but they could at least support a population of a few thousand or something, like the show didnt consider "oh yeah those other periphery districts EXIST" its the one thing i didnt understand in the early show and it just glossed over it with no explanation
yes the plan requires a lot of wall climbing and traveling on top of the walls, but thats because the top of the walls are consistently a safe place to be, no non titan shifter has ever even thought of climbing them so its the safest way to travel that doesnt require a lot more time deviation, also there are likely supplies left within these periphery districts, like spare mobility gear and food and stuff to run towns, as titans dont seem too interesting in destroying that kind of stuff, so even if those periphery zones had some remnant titans within them i doubt it would be too much for a few hundred people to handle if they were given the most basic mobility gear training possible, as well as only light equipment for the best of the best, like even if they couldnt sacrifice a lot of resources it would be better to just gather up a lot of horses and mobility gear and some food and give them to some of the group and send them directly in, and gave them the command to make it to the periphery zone.
I'm pretty sure that someone in AoT said that a titanshifter dies 13 years after they first activate their powers, not 13 years after they get them. But i'm not sure what means activating their powers. It might simply mean 13 years after their first transformation, or maybe activating their powers might mean something as simple as healing.
Great series, but I think ur analysis of Eren's power is incorrect. He has not received the memories of the rumbling until the medal ceremony, further reinforced with the symbolism of the medal itself with historia's uniform. Invaderzzz's video "this video will change how you see Eren" explains it damm near perfect, Manga spoilers though.
Yeah, won't watch it because of spoilers. (And don't spoil me here either please 😅) My read on it is that once Eren kissed Historia's hand - the cold and calculated Eren we know was born, since he saw the future with crystal clarity due to him seeing through the paths. When it comes to everything pre-ceremony though - I still believe that full-founding power Eren sent subliminal messages to guide himself, the most prominent one being the dream back in episode 1. On top of that, since the founding titan has the ability to alter memories and it by itself transcends time - Eren's power doesn't even really play into the equation, since the Attack titan would only matter for all previous holders of the titan Eren would want to affect (i.e. so that he gets the Attack and Founding in the first place). Hope that makes sense, tried making it as concise as possible 😅
Something that confuses me is that Annie and really the other warriors hated Reiner, they bullied him and treated him like garbage and it wasn't hazing or anything. Anything they really didn't respect him. So in videos like this were you talking about them having a rapport and playing around it doesn't really make sense to me. I know that they trauma bonded eventually but she still despises him right? Am I crazy?
I shouldnt have watched this video, now I think waiting for 5 years was a REALLY bad plan, both from narrative as well as in world perspective. Its more than 1/3 of their remaining life spam, also its 5 years without Marley getting any news about them. I already said that in another video but the Marley trio souldve had more screen time in the begning, one thing that could have had justified those 5 years could be that their life inside the walls of Paradis was somewhat better than within the walls of Marley so they carried over themselves without realizing it, or some other dificulties to infiltrate which would have maybe shown more of the contraditions of the nobles which leads to the coup later. Dont get me wrong though, AoT still amazing, love it!!
Yeah, I'm trying a bit of a different thing for this series (mostly because I'm just curious how/if that affects analytics in any way) where I just jump right into the episode with 0 preamble. Not sure if you watch my other stuff, but I just replace the talky intro with the quick visual one. Glad you enjoyed it though! 👍
No, I don't speed myself up, I just used to slow down my speech 😅 If I just talk normally off the top of my head, I become a rap god, so when I was starting out, I was purposefully articulating words much more. I learned the language through watching stuff on YT myself, so that was also my way of paying it forward haha. Over time I just drifted closer to my natural speech and found a happy middle ground.
Thank you for that GoT show dig lol. I keep contrasting AoT and GoT when it comes to taking a protagonist and "flipping" them. I have always thought Eren was overly fanatical at times, but I always excused it in my head as anime-protagonist-zeal. But now that the show is going how it is, I am like oh. No, that was not anime protagonist zeal, that was Eren has the potential to do something truly awful foreshadowing! They did it right. GoT - No.
YOOOOO I JUST REALIZED. ANNIE PARALLELS THE FOUNDER YMIR. TAKEN IN AND FORCED TO BE A WARRIOR TITAN BY A MAN FOR HIS OWN ENDS BUT SHE ENDS UP ACTUALLY LOVING HIM DESPITE IT ALL.
You dare to say that water is wet like all water is wet Water has the ability to make things wet but itself is not wet unless it is ice then it can be wet
water is wet because objects become wet when they interact with water. It’s a property of the water, that it can make things wet. Something cannot be wet if there is no water involved. It’s pretty much the same reason that salt would also be salty, because if you eat this food and you’re like, ‘hey, that’s got way too much salt,’ you would describe it as salty. It’s the same exact thing with water. Water is wet because that’s what water does. You cannot have something be wet without water present there.

In the meantime, they're learning everything about their military structure and resources to inform Marley (Zeke knows about the OMD when he first appears in S2 episode 1, for example). They just attacked in Trost because the moment was too convenient for not taking advantage.
Great content man i can always listen and follow along at work, makes my days easier
@27:49 eren tells hans his mothers death is not hans fault. After watching the finale this is CRAZY with double meaning. In reality, eren is the one who sent the titan to eat his mother all along. So yes hans, its not your fault, it was eren all along.
23:58 this is it. Mikasa biggest gigachad moment
This is awesome. I love the episode by episode breakdown!
post season 3 colossal: literally a nuclear weapon
season 1 colossal: guess ill just appear
Fuck yeah! I was just checking your channel yesterday and lamenting that his hadn’t been posted. By far the most anticipated thing on YT for me
You have the best timing ever, thank you for the video 🔥
man. these videos really make me appreciate this show so much more.
And Armin as „built like a daffodil“. Those two are just too funny and accurate.
10:00 Im pretty sure Armin isnt ripped because hes a titan. Its probably because hes been undergoing military training for years at that point
I'm a Brazilian not fluent in English, so sorry if he's too... hard
But, I've loved all the reviews of the series so far and I really want to see the rest.
23:20 I was under the impression you could join all 3 branches regardless of your performance, the top ten just got to choose rather then be assigned.
The show has so much interesting depth!
25:09 was 1000% in reference to eren WHOOPING reiners ass using annies technique later in the show. Its even pointed out by armin after we clearly see that hes using her technique. Not that anyone will see the comment ,just saying what i find quite obviously what it means
Another retrospecive note is how Sashe saves Samuel, while Conny in S4P2….
Btw armin was always ripped, he is a soldier after all
Armin is absolutely atleast on par with Erwin when it comes to tactical ingenuity
Great Video!
Many thanks, glad you enjoyed it! 👍
wait so the assaumption that armin and reiner are ripped because of titan transformation seems very wrong to me
when eren was transformed as a child he was sill a scrawny kid
armin and reiner just have strung out bodies because they are (dare i say elite-) soldiers
"Now is your turn to be the bad guy", says Rainer to Eren.
Keith's analysis of Floch: "He a b*tch."
The wings of freedom was never my background but it was my display picture for a hot minute.
2:09 casually showing you spotted yet another hidden detail x')
If I were ishyama I’d want to add Levi to the story as soon as possible because he’s just so insanely cool
love these videos
I think that the early shounen vibe for attack on titan is used a lot more to ease the audience into a false feeling of security, so it contrasts the rest of the series
14:54 i agree, they can both be impulsive
29:25 POV when Marley hears you’re talking shit
Was there no communication between the Marley military and Annie, Reiner and Berthlold those 5 years??
I may be mistiming things but i believe on Reiner, Bert & Annie side, they couldn't communicate because of all the mindless titans being outside of the walls.
On the Marley side, i don't think Zeke and others idly waited but rather had their own matters to take care of. Perhaps other wars etc.
Nope, that's why zeke appeared on the insland in season 2. He was checking their mission status since they went radio silent, Marley probably was engaged in other conflicts so they couldn't afford to keep close tabs on them also.
@@nopatiencejoe6376 good point. Also explains their shock seeing Zeke when they were stuck in the castle.
Not sure if walkie talkies and long distance telephones were a thing at this point in the story. Couldn't exactly air drop in messages either.
Than you for another great analysis :)
i do miss how the whole thing was about the colossal titan.. goooooood timesssss
Mikasa is the one that is genetically selected to be a warrior
32:40 - Same face expression as when he manipulates Grisha
10:03 smh I thought he was always supposed to be ripped on the low, I was so confused why they were showing hottie Armin at a time like this lol😅
I'd pick the Garrison Corp. 🌹
That’s just my random numbers to help explain it
I was waiting for this
Pillar Men
Good Job!bro
Yea I guess giga chad is the best way to put it
Found this series a few hours ago. I've watched each of your videos for this. I will be looking forward to your next videos. With that said, I will give you a sub. But that bell will be left untouched, just like me after a night of drinking. Or any night.. Or day... Or just in general... I'm lonely. Please fill this void with more videos. I will be checking out you other things as well, but I am mostly interested in these AOT videos.
Sad story... but many more are on the way! New episode is dropping early next week! 👍
After im done with this series I'll be joining the channel so that I can watch the read along series of beserk 😎
12:41 not true, but from his point of view, he doesn't know how Levi got to where he is. He was never trained in the military. So he is definitely referring to all the trainees he has seen and heard of. Obviously elite members of the survey corps are not comparable to someone in training, so the comparison doesn't even come to mind.
ok when i watched the show for the first ever time i actually formulated a plan of my own to fix the walls without erens power, because i thought "yeah this could be possible given enough time and effort"
here was my plan:
step one, secure the periphery districts in the east north and west, we do have a time limit for this mission but i would prioritize the west to be cleared first, as its the most important for the early plan.
step two, transport people into the west periphery district now that its emptied, instead of that suicide mission their goal is simply to make it to that periphery district and try to become self reliable over there, this would draw titans to the west side of wall maria because titans are drawn to higher populations, i would also try to shift the internal population of wall rose to the west a bit, to try to bribe the titans to the west even more.
step three, after a year or two id send a small party of skilled soldiers to the west periphery district in order to relay a message: "climb the wall and travel to the north periphery district and secure a base there." this would shift the titans to the northwest part of the wall. as people are now split between the north and the east periphery districts as well as those within the wall rose.
step four, now a smaller team will be sent to clear the eastern periphery district but not to make a base there, there they will climb the walls with supplies and head south towards the breach and seal both sides, the lower titan population due to the earlier preperations would allow for the construction to be slightly easier and the wall could be retaken within a decade or two.
of course this went off the idea that this was not a planned attack on the walls and that i didnt know the titans contained humans, but this plan would totally have been better than "aight lets sacrifice the refugees with 0 plan"
also little side note how did nobody survive in those 3 other periphery districts, did nobody shut the gate between wall sina and the other periphery districts, did nobody take the people fleeing on horses seriously, like how did not a single soul survive in those districts like i knew those places were small but they could at least support a population of a few thousand or something, like the show didnt consider "oh yeah those other periphery districts EXIST" its the one thing i didnt understand in the early show and it just glossed over it with no explanation
yes the plan requires a lot of wall climbing and traveling on top of the walls, but thats because the top of the walls are consistently a safe place to be, no non titan shifter has ever even thought of climbing them so its the safest way to travel that doesnt require a lot more time deviation, also there are likely supplies left within these periphery districts, like spare mobility gear and food and stuff to run towns, as titans dont seem too interesting in destroying that kind of stuff, so even if those periphery zones had some remnant titans within them i doubt it would be too much for a few hundred people to handle if they were given the most basic mobility gear training possible, as well as only light equipment for the best of the best, like even if they couldnt sacrifice a lot of resources it would be better to just gather up a lot of horses and mobility gear and some food and give them to some of the group and send them directly in, and gave them the command to make it to the periphery zone.
25:28 i still dont understand why annie killed them, there is no information they could have found
I'm pretty sure that someone in AoT said that a titanshifter dies 13 years after they first activate their powers, not 13 years after they get them. But i'm not sure what means activating their powers. It might simply mean 13 years after their first transformation, or maybe activating their powers might mean something as simple as healing.
So under rated 730 views bruh
Great series, but I think ur analysis of Eren's power is incorrect. He has not received the memories of the rumbling until the medal ceremony, further reinforced with the symbolism of the medal itself with historia's uniform. Invaderzzz's video "this video will change how you see Eren" explains it damm near perfect, Manga spoilers though.
Yeah, won't watch it because of spoilers. (And don't spoil me here either please 😅)
My read on it is that once Eren kissed Historia's hand - the cold and calculated Eren we know was born, since he saw the future with crystal clarity due to him seeing through the paths.
When did Annie go underground, I didn't know that, which OVA or where can I see it?Plz tell the name also.
It’s part of a flashback in S4.
@@ArDeeMee Thanks, but can you name the ep numbers,I don't remember it exactly
I can understand if you are not able
And thanks for your answer.
@@srinivasavarma7505 I‘m not sure, too. I think it was one of Reiner‘s memories, maybe before meeting him in Liberio.
@@ArDeeMee Ok,thnks
I will look into it.
@@srinivasavarma7505I'm pretty sure it's season 4 episode 3
Do you think they made the outer districts look like the inside of Titan mouths on purpose?
I Gotta really Watch Attack on Titan lol
Dude this has mad spoilers
So…. Did you? =D
Am I crazy?
As far as I remember she accepted his leadership after he stepped up to the plate.
10:05 armin wasn't ripped cuz of being a titan shifter lol
bro was a soldier and trained for 3 years hes still gonna be strong/lean bruh
almost been a year ago this vid was posted... damn
Hey love ur videos
Please do oveanalyzing video about the diffrent between DUB and SUB
13:46 I think Erwin is the better Strategic commander and Armin is the better tactical
Didn't Zeke stop the attack on Trost?
Wait when do we find out that Annie got caught and met Kenny???
Late Season 3 or first half of 4 I can't remember exactly
Awesome vid, but the lack of an intro kinda threw me off a bit
Yeah, I'm trying a bit of a different thing for this series (mostly because I'm just curious how/if that affects analytics in any way) where I just jump right into the episode with 0 preamble.
Not sure if you watch my other stuff, but I just replace the talky intro with the quick visual one.
Glad you enjoyed it though! 👍
22:03 😳
Come on.
I guessed the female titan was annie the first time i saw the titan.
They kinda made it to obvious with the hair and eyes.
Eren even had the thought before she kicked his head off…
i love your content, but how tf do you say eren is fine with committing the rumbling
Uhhh, what? 😅
23:35 How did you know? 😳
*✨Magic✨*
Lol you keep calling the Cadets "Scouts"
Wait a second!
Did you start speeding up your videos 1.25x? You sound like you’re in slow motion until I speed it up
No, I don't speed myself up, I just used to slow down my speech 😅
If I just talk normally off the top of my head, I become a rap god, so when I was starting out, I was purposefully articulating words much more.
Rope.
Wait what? Annie searched for Kenny? When?
You dare to say that water is wet like all water is wet
Water has the ability to make things wet but itself is not wet unless it is ice then it can be wet
water is wet because objects become wet when they interact with water.
