Man! That progress bar is such a great addition!
It helps so much!
Always a pleasure to tune in and learn something new .. making it all so easy .. on point .. with your easy flow ... comprehensive tips and valuable comments ...cheers!
Cheers and thx for tuning in!
your channel is becoming my favorite for synth / sampler stuff.
Really appreciate that 😊
Thanks for dropping this excellent video during my work lunch break and a few days before I get to borrow and try a Digitakt for the 1st time ✌️
Thanks for watching Keith! Hope you have a blast with the Digitakt! (I’m sure you will)
Your style of videos have really progressed since you started. They have the perfect balance between being informative, entertaining, and a bit of fun sprinkled in with eye and ear candy. You're officially a RUclips pro and your channel is turning into one of my favorites. Well done!
Thanks so much David- wow love hearing stuff like this. Glad to be here 😊
Hey, Great Video ! i also use external effect with my Djm-450 to get around the pattern based effects and to have fluide transitions! cheers
Yeah a good mixer helps for sure
Oh...Octatrack. I am thinking of rebuying one myself!
Great piece of kit, but one can only juggle so many...
Looking forward to hear what you make of it!
Totally! Also love your YT channel 😊
great video! I noticed you were using the green master mutes, there are also the purple pattern based mutes, you can toggle from the green to purple. good to use the purps for setting up the set when you know you want to start a new pattern with something muted and not have to remember to mute it ahead of time.
Did not know this! 🍻
oh yes, pattern mutes are extremely handy when building new pattern variations, highly recommend to anyone who hasn't know about them before
I'm so glad I stumbled on your channel!!!
Appreciate you being here! 😊
Really useful video, thanks. I've been trying to keep all my different song sections on the one pattern, don't really like having different patterns per song as I always end up in variations of sample volume/filter/fx that I want to keep consistent throughout
It’s my pleasure! 😊
so true - this pattern based workflow hurts so bad. still in love with digis though!
Yeah they’re dope for many other reasons. Depending on your workflow the pattern based stuff might work to your advantage
Great video I’m probably going to get a digitekt next month just wish the prices would calm down it’s ridiculous tbh
I guess you mean 2nd hand prices
@@LiamKillen thinking of buying new tbh but it was 640 on Thooman 2 weeks ago now it’s £699
Sounds great this is my official Dogstare RUclips needs some work tho tbh love your videos really intuitive 😊
Great breakdown. Could you possibly do a breakdown of your mappings for the Faderfox?
Something to consider for a future video for sure
I’m interested in that too.
I own the model cycles, the workflow on this device was cool.nice video
Do you like drum and bass, would love to see you make a track with dawless gear 💿
I haven’t messed with drm n’ bass much yet but something to be considered for sure!
Hi Liam. Nice video. Any idea if you can launch different Songs from Ableton? I launch different patterns from Push2 but wondering if I can launch different Songs this way
I’m not an Ableton user!
Hi Liam, great video! How did you setup that DN follows the songmode from DT?
All you have to do is sync DN to DT- make sure it’s tracking and you’re good to go
BTW, you can go to settings -> global fx/mix -> check reverb and delay and boom - now you have global fx
I’m aware of that- this doesn’t fix pattern based workflow- that same issue I’m talking about still remains.
@@LiamKillen oops, now I get what you were talking about 🙈
They should just make it a parameter lock option where you put one at the end of a loop and it carries the global fx through to the next pattern
Yeah that would be amazing
When you get your Octatrack please give background about creating templates.
I’m still in the dark at this point the first couple videos will most likely just be first impressions
Liam, what are the stands you have the Digis elevated on?
Got them from varidock
Copy / paste went to basic operation with machine, and it keeps your effects applayed
Thanks for this! :-)
Where did you get such folding table for digitone/digitakt?
It’s just a regular desktop table!
It's very close to a tracker now without having a display to see the values in the patterns.
True! I like it’s workflow better though 😏
mmm clarity
Clarity = important
Not sure what the issue with the pattern based workflow is? If you chain patterns you’re saying the delay and reverb resets? Are you sure you just don’t have different delay and reverb settings for the pattern you’re chaining/transitioning into? Usually when I make a song I just make sure to keep the reverb/delay settings consistent unless I want a dryer section or something.
I see what you’re saying but With my workflow the goal is to use these delays/reverbs as builds going from one section to another- the settings don’t carry over with this sort of pattern based workflow and it hinders this sort of workflow.
That's been my biggest issue with Syntakt as well: especially when using the analog dual vco engine I want to be able to play with the filter on the fly and have filter settings persist across pattern changes. Solution for me has been to midi sequence external gear for any sounds that I want to tweak live and have those tweaks persist across patterns
@@LiamKillen Your Octatrack will solve that problem easily if you pass the DT audio thru it.
@@LiamKillen what if you set the fx to
Global?
What about the global settings added in update 1.30... Easily adjust global FX and MIX settings. There is a new GLOBAL FX/MIX menu item under SETTINGS that lets you set global parameters, instead of being limited to the active pattern.
I wonder how long it will be till we see someone connect 4 digitakt to a dj mixer and just play a midi synced set?
😂 I’m sure someone will do it- might as well just dj at that point
Hi man, I have a question that many users would like to see solved.
Do you know if there's an easy way to chain songs? It's taking me too much time to get from one song to another. 😕
hmmm...that's a really good question actually - I guess the best way would to be to chain several songs within one "song mode" - know what i mean?
@LiamKillen Yeah, but there is no option to do that after a song. You can only LOOP or STOP at the end of a song 😫 I guess Elektron needs to fix that on the next update
What is the name of the sequencer your using ?
It's the Digitakt :-)
Is it possible to chain / queue songs?
Good question- I do not know the answer
@@LiamKillen song mode > load > select song to queue (song will queue after end of current row) - cheers.
Whoever made that comment about the Octatrak apparently has never owned one, LOL.
That being said, if they add the pad mute to the OT sequencer, that would be a game changer.
I’m still just learning like the very basics lol
@@LiamKillen Welcome to the rabbit hole! You will never love and hate something so much at the same time.
@@LiamKillen ruclips.net/video/zRLGVoJv_XQ/видео.html
This might save you some headaches with the OT
"song mode" is the least of what the octatrack has to offer. that thing beats the shit out of the digitakt in every way
Except for its weird backwards workflow lol
@@LiamKillen there are actually a lot of things the digitakt does better. i use it for all of my midi sequencing, despite owning an octatrack. but overall, the things octatrack does well greatly outweigh the overall sound design and production capabilities of the dt. i dont know if i've ever heard someone say they only wanted on because of the Arranger
i have the Digitakt and Octatrack and I see Song Mode as similar to Arrangement mode on the Octatrack, in fact it seems modelled on that. However no way can song mode on the respective Elektron units even compare, due to the sheer volume of real samples you can have on an Octatrack. I wish it could be more of course, I wish the flex machine could have far more memory, like a RAM you could increase internally. I think due to iPad apps like Lumbeat Mid East Drummer, and of course Loopy Pro, The Octatrack can act as a mastering machine or even a playing machine, so I might be considering selling my Digitakt. it really depends on what it can do that the Octatrack can't do.
I really appreciate your addition here! :-)
