Ricky Schroeder had One of THE Best drama scenes I HAVE ever watched UP to now...the kid was a phenomena who made the whole World cry....try to Watch 1979 THE CHAMP's scenes :
1) The jail scene
2) the meeting at grandstands
3) Final scene the boy did 5 minutes dense drama ALL by himself.!
The Great Franco Zefirelli said the boy was Fantastic...
That kid made almost everyone cry in my family. Also made guests cry lol.
This was broadcast April 9, 1979. Ricky Schroeder would turn 9 just 4 days later on April 13th.
Heaven Can Wait has great art direction.
That was my grandpa :)
Ricky was so cute here
Ricky scorder emocionou o mundo em o campeão
I am proud to call Paul Sylbert my friend.
Love Ricky and Rick!
Another Oscar that suprisingly did not go to "The Wiz." That was a major job, and handled very well. Can you imagine how much work went into transforming the Cyclone rollercoaster into the Yellow Brick Road, and all the other set pieces that looked like New York City, but still like another world?
One of the cool things about these Oscar posts is not only seeing stars of today and yesterday, but also mentioning movies that the public may have forgotten exist or never knew about in the first place. And not necessarily the winners. For example, "The Brink's Job" was a pretty decent movie with Peter Falk and Warren Oates. A lot of people may not know of it. They could see one of these posts, and discover a lost treasure.
The last time a kid presented was for Best Live Action Short in 2016 by Jacob Tremblay
The Partridge Family meets Silver Spoons, o.k.a. Shirley Jones meets Ricky Shroeder.
Could you please post The Crying Game and Howard's End winning awards for screenplay?
I agree. No idea what was so special about the sets. Weren't they pretty much like Warren Beatty's living room?
ricky looks like that comic book charactor richie rich.
Haven can't Wait over The WIZ' No way....
The kid was cute:-)
You got that right Winduct the true winner should have been Jack Fisk for Days of Heaven but he wasn't nominated dammit!
9 Oscar nominations was really too much. The best Art Direction award was... ok .... alright. Much better than All The President's Men for example, two years earlier.
I don´t understand this win too
The Wiz should have won
Can't compete with child ...lose every time ⏲
This was one of the dumbest wins for art direction it should have went to Days of Heaven and sadly it wasn't nominated!
I liked that movie but 9 Oscar nominations seemed like too much. And the Oscar for Best Art Direction was just... strange.
The worst winning ever in the category.... probably the only it could have won.
