Another Oscar that suprisingly did not go to "The Wiz." That was a major job, and handled very well. Can you imagine how much work went into transforming the Cyclone rollercoaster into the Yellow Brick Road, and all the other set pieces that looked like New York City, but still like another world?

One of the cool things about these Oscar posts is not only seeing stars of today and yesterday, but also mentioning movies that the public may have forgotten exist or never knew about in the first place. And not necessarily the winners. For example, "The Brink's Job" was a pretty decent movie with Peter Falk and Warren Oates. A lot of people may not know of it. They could see one of these posts, and discover a lost treasure.

The Partridge Family meets Silver Spoons, o.k.a. Shirley Jones meets Ricky Shroeder.

I agree. No idea what was so special about the sets. Weren't they pretty much like Warren Beatty's living room?

You got that right Winduct the true winner should have been Jack Fisk for Days of Heaven but he wasn't nominated dammit!

9 Oscar nominations was really too much. The best Art Direction award was... ok .... alright. Much better than All The President's Men for example, two years earlier.

This was one of the dumbest wins for art direction it should have went to Days of Heaven and sadly it wasn't nominated!

I liked that movie but 9 Oscar nominations seemed like too much. And the Oscar for Best Art Direction was just... strange.

The worst winning ever in the category.... probably the only it could have won.
