What's the outrage? You have to put butts in seats, sell jerseys, be on TV, thankfully CC is on the way to correct that, but they don't currently make money because the league doesn't make money.

I am an account a Cpa, And in a free market no help from the NB.A this league would have gone out of business many years ago. They have never as I understand it turned a profit. You pay your employees out of a profit. Since you don't make a profit i'm not even sure how you still exist?

2023 WNBA Season.... 12 teams generated 200 million dollars.
2023 NBA Season... 39 teams generated 10.58 BILLION dollars.
You can't compare pay between these two leagues because it's all about putting people in seats, TV revenue, and merchandising.
The NBA has historically given approximately 15 million a year to the WNBA.
Rookies always get paid way less than top tier veteran players. This is the norm in every professional sports. No guarantee a rookie will perform the same in professional play as compared to college. As an example, look how many 1st round draft picks in the NFL were a complete bust.
She will make plenty of money in endorsements, unless she has a terrible professional career.

And the ladies game between Iowa and South Carolina was watched by more viewers than any NBA or MBL game (including their playoffs and World Series games), or any men's NCAA game in the last 5 years. And yet they get paid less than 1% of what the men get paid.

What you not understanding is those NIL deals can follow them into the WNBA and they can get more and bigger endorsements in the WNBA to add to it along with that base salary, You also don’t have to go to class and you only playing 3 months. Please believe Angel Reese and Caitlin Clark will be making more next season then they would in another year in College.

Angel Reese went to the WNBA because all the excitement went with Clark to the WNBA. Reese would have been irrelevant during another year in college. In the WNBA she can ride the wave of viewership and endorsements that will come with Clark. It was a smart move.

I thought all the young ladies or women playing in the WNBA had to complete at least 4-years of college education; hence, obtain at least a bachelor’s degree. And if they bothered to take Economics 101; they would or should understanding the concept of "supply and demand" or in otherwards, an employee’s pay a.k.a. salary is based on what the market will bear. Most importantly, on the Profits and Loss statement of the company-in this case the WNBA-which from my research, hasn't turned a profit since its inception. In fact, they have been losing about 10 million dollars a year! that's right Ten Million Dollars a Year. If it wasn't for the NBA subsiding them...basically using the WNBA as a tax write off; the WNBA wouldn't exist.
Nevertheless, in addition to not ever making a profit...the WNBA is in a real dilemma, which they didn't fully think through when they decided to embrace the LGBTQ and leftist WOKE cause and community. Because as you stated, if the WNBA allows transgender men to play in their league...Caitlin Clark...their savior of their fledgling league to become irrelevant as would the WNBA, and all its WOKE supporters. Because all the attention would immediately move from covering Caitlin Clark and on to the Transgender (man or men) playing in the WNBA...it would be the real life "Juwanna Mann" movie. But hey, that’s what happen when you are “the Third Blind Mice!” That’s what happens when you continue to run a business in “Fairy Tale Land” where profits and return of investments no longer count… I guess WNBA likes playing with Monopoly money.

The thing they'll have to change right away for Caitlyn is she will need a share of the merch that she sells. No other players going to sell a tenth of the merch that she will. Worse than the pathetic salary. The most embarrassing thing about the WNBA draft is that only about half of the players drafted will make it to a roster. Most of them get cut. There aren't enough spots to keep all of the players they drafted, which is embarrassing.

Ladies in the WNBA only get $300,000 for 4 years. A doctor or lawyer can bring home then that and that a normal career for them.

Clark made a huge mistake in my opinion. She should have went to the 3 league, where she was offered 5 million to play. In the WNBA these “any thing but straight” players do not like this white superstar in their arena. I would go as far as to say that Clark would be purposely injured. $338,000 for 4 years is lousy money. However, she could make millions in endorsements. She will be the best player. A great White player is something these WNBA women cannot stomach.

  • @Roccofan

4:59 That Prada outfit was a genius marketing move. Her PR team is top notch. They understand the demographic that have to like Clark for her to continue to be lucrative. Soccer moms that take their kids to WNBA games don’t care about what she’s wearing, but black women who don’t watch WNBA games can bring Clark’s stock down if they feel she’s stealing shine from black WNBA players. The music selected for her commercials and this outfit are meant to appease that demographic. Clark being cool to black people will, as usual, translate into her being viewed as cool by a lot of white people. Smart, very smart.

Can we just keep it real and just keep grinding towards the goal. MJ should have been making way more money than most superstars today. Plus no one is forcing them to play for the WNBA or this great GAME anyway. I'm not talking about hurtful Mistreatment and deliberate disrespect, that is different. @KG-kq9tk 5 месяцев назад

@unehanzawa5165. Yes. Now think about why that is. Use your mind. Stop reverting to victimhood.
The WNBA needs all the funds they can get to just STAY AFLOAT. All the other employees and operational costs need to be payed. The Then the owners need to make enough to even invest in the first place. When all if that is done, there is only so much money left to pay the actual players. Which it needs to be divided up between.
The NBA brings in astronomically more amounts of money. So the baseline operational costs and paying employees are EASILY taken care of. The money left over after that to go to the owners and players is a much bigger percentage of all the revenue. Its not "sexism." Its basic math.

Because of what she did at Iowa?
That was then and this is now
What she did at Iowa doesn't mean absolutely anything at the WNBA pro level because every WNBA players were all great college basketball players and many of them who were really good to great, didn't make the cut or wasn't highly successful at the WNBA pro level or had very short WNBA careers.
