1st thing: the 18 people who gave this a thumbs down are simply frustrated because they haven't figured out how to duplicate these riffs on their tubas. Keep practicing guys! Few guitarist ever achieve the note-by-note tension that we experience here. At nearly ever break we hear the guitar speak in a language we've never heard before from the instrument, but understand. Playing like this is why the best players of his generation felt, briefly, like they'd wasted their lives.
It must be said that live, Hendrix didn't always play with such a concentrated focus, with this kind of ornamentation between phrases, or with this ferocious, dedicated sense of purpose. When you're the opening act for teenyboopers waiting for The Monkeys to hit the stage, you don't get this kind of performance. Later, when he'd "made it" the audience would cheer for anything, indiscriminately, and there's the playing behind the back and with his teeth...carnival act stuff that sold tickets but wasn't good for the serious fan or his mental health. All the more reason to celebrate this amazing track where he demonstrates for 8 minutes that he REALLY feels like playing. And like no one else.

Well Said. Been playing for close to 30 years and I can only recently "see" Jimi, and the things your referring to, sometimes I think he was reincarnated as SRV cause that's the only other artist I've ever heard that leaves you impaled on the notes like Jimi

The bassist held the whole band together. Jimmi and Mitch Mitchell were crazy at their craft.

The red house on this Album Cover. IS NOT THE ORGINAL. I use to have it. ELECTRIC LADY LAND. This Album came from England. With the POLYDORE LABLE. A lyirc sang on it. That My Linda Don't Live Here No More. This I know for a FACT. GET IT RIGHT. WHAT YOUR PLAYING HERE IS THE "WRONG ONE" The RED HOUSE I'm COMMENTING ABOUT. WAS "NOT" PLAYED LIVE.

This version of Red House is live and not on any LP. It took some work and a little luck to make this old analog recording sound decent streaming. So not to worry just enjoy..
