Rampart is an underrated figure, but simple and effective. Keel-Haul was also a Navy Joe... Love the Ferris Bueller reference! Started my weekend with Classi-Friday; ending it with a vintage review -- thanks, Hoodie!
Last week was Barricade, and this week is Rampart! How fitting. Both are named for defensive fortifications, and, both seemed to pay homage to sci-fi action figures. Rampart seems similar to Hoth outfit Han Solo. Maybe that’s just me. Thanks for another entertaining review
I never had Rampart as a kid. Got him a few months ago. Gave him a glance. Put him on my shelf. And I watched this. And pulled Rampart off said shelf and really studied him. And now I’m actually paying attention to my collection for a minute and appreciative. Don’t think I’ve ever commented, but been here since the beginning-ish. And I love it. Glad you’re doing better, Brother HCC. You were missed.
One of the hidden gems of the 90 class. This year, to me, was better than some of the previous years, and largely had original and awesome characters...both sides...
To this day I have 3 shoe boxes of GI Joe figures from 1983 to 1992 in mint condition plus all their accessories. All about the passion and collecting. Hooah!!!🍺🍺😎🎸
I was born in 1986, I didn’t start playing with G.I. joes until 1991, so I missed out on this figure. But personally I am a fan of these figures from 1990-1992. But even as a kid, I was done when they started the Star Brigade Figures.
Great review. My son had him and as I recall there were 2 each of his weapons which made me think there must have been another in the box of Joes I got at a yard sale. I guess the other was kia or mia.
Oh man I still remember the classics made for Commodore 64. I remember playing those mixed with "Russian Attack" and "Spy Hunter". Yet this character is a new one on me.
I had Rampart as a kid (still do). I always liked him. I liked the 'finger flick technology' era, though the only figures with it that come to mind are this one and Crimson Guard Immortal.
He is a great Joe. I wasn’t getting them when he came out, but he looks good and has the kind of odd support specialty I like. Despite the heavy gear he comes with, he would be perfect for operating any number of GI Joe towed or fixed artillery or in the island on the Flag.
I have been long waiting for you to review this figure. Although I didn't get a Rampart figure back in the day, a friend of mine had one and I always thought his weapons were rather cool. I really hope to see you review Salvo some day.
Cool figure. I’m okay considering him a figure from the last year of the 80s, which I find more technically right (I do get the other side) and which seems thematically true too in this case. As with most decades, the things we most identify with it take a while to get going.
Cool figure that I liked when I was young, even if it was late in the line. One thing weird is that I still have all the accessories... But lost the figure. 🤔
I bet Rampart was a beast at Missile Command and the upgraded version, Super Missile Attack. As for his Navy experience, I'd say he was either a Fire Controlman or a Gunners Mate. Likely the former, as GMs are more involved in maintenance of the missile systems than actually launching. So he's more likely an FC, holed up in the STRIKE corner of the Combat Information Center. I wouldn't be surprised if he was also cross rated on the COM-160 for the ship's deck gun.
You know I don't think Rampart fits in with the Aquatic Joes like Torpedo, Deep Six, Cutter, Shipwreck, Exedra Rampart to me fits in better with Bazooka, Zap, Backblast you know the missile launchers.
Rampart is a very decent figure for the era. Regarding the finger-flick, and especially the spring-loaded launcher technologies... how many kids actually had eye injuries related to these stupid gimmicks? Anyone ever heard any statistics? It would be interesting to hear an expose on this subject.
That whole 1990 lineup was underrated. Rampart, Bullhorn, Ambush, Sub Zero and the Avalanche was one of my favorite vehicles.
don't forget Grid-Iron...oh wait...do forget Grid-Iron lol
Rampart is an underrated figure, but simple and effective.
Keel-Haul was also a Navy Joe...

This was awesome
I think 1990 is amongst the best years for Joe's. Fantastic figures.
Rampart is so cool. You can’t tell me that “cannon” isn’t a Smart Gun 🤩

i always saw Hoth in that uniform.
If you really want to see Hoth Han in Joe form, check out Sub-Zero v2 from the 1993 Arctic Commandos mail away set.

Rampart is one of those few rare 90s joes that could have fitted in with 80s joes.
To this day I have 3 shoe boxes of GI Joe figures from 1983 to 1992 in mint condition plus all their accessories. All about the passion and collecting. Hooah!!!🍺🍺😎🎸
Before watching, let me just say: YES! YES! YES! I've been waiting on you to review this figure.
rampart is one figure i remember having and playing with alot! as a adult, it was great to find him and reunite. thanks hcc, another awesome video!

Your Rampart cosplays actually really good.
Great review. My son had him and as I recall there were 2 each of his weapons which made me think there must have been another in the box of Joes I got at a yard sale. I guess the other was kia or mia.

I like this review and figure. Not bad for a 90 figure. Had cool weapons and not a too over the top figure
I’ve been waiting Literally YEARS for this!!!

Your right Rampart is an excellent figure! I can see that your not a fan of the 91’-94’ joes like I am but that’s ok. I love your show! 🙂🙌🏻
As someone that works on the video game industry, I enjoyed the intro to this review.
He is a great Joe. I wasn’t getting them when he came out, but he looks good and has the kind of odd support specialty I like. Despite the heavy gear he comes with, he would be perfect for operating any number of GI Joe towed or fixed artillery or in the island on the Flag.

Great Review! I will be adding him to my collection and i am a tuba player too

Legend has it that rampart’s wife was the happiest of all gi joe wives do to the finger flick technology
Cool figure that I liked when I was young, even if it was late in the line. One thing weird is that I still have all the accessories... But lost the figure. 🤔
This figure is amazing. I stop collecting in 89..I had a couple from 1990 but i missed out on this

It's been a while since I last watched these reviews. Nice to see Dr. Mindbender is still the official missile test-dummy.
Lots of fun and informative, as always. Thank you sir.
It's a Bill Merklein sculpt, hence the quality and attention to detail
Nice video maybe we can see the Techno Viper next.
Another great review! I didn't know this one (It was released in Spain just when I quit collecting Joes), but your review makes me wanting to own one!
Very underrated figure a bit of an unknown but great looking figure.
good fig. would not mind a classified version.
Great review. I'm still looking forward for your review of Blowtorch. Yo Joe
Great review!
I love this figure. Just got him about a month ago. What figure is perfect?
You’re a trip Bryan😆😂🤣🙂👏🏻💯, and HAPPY NEW YEAR to you and yours too🎉🎊.!
Cool action figure. I may get him if I can find him
thanks for making these vids. hope youre doing good
Great figure!
Buenísimo!!! La tuba!!! Lo maximo jajaja
Cool review!
Rampart is a college grad but not an officer? Respect.
He looks like he was modeled after the Hoth Rebel Soldier
Pew, Pew, Pew!!!!! Watch my Green Dot defeat your Red Square!
Nailed the cosplay 💯
I was curious about Rampart’s headgear. Is he wearing a cowl underneath a cap? 🤔
I never heard of this character before
This is good review. True facts if rampart graduated from college he should have been am officer not enlisted. Oh well just silly fact yo joe
Great stuff B 😂🤣
You know I don't think Rampart fits in with the Aquatic Joes like Torpedo, Deep Six, Cutter, Shipwreck, Exedra Rampart to me fits in better with Bazooka, Zap, Backblast you know the missile launchers.
So Rampart played a lot of Missile Command then?
So if I wanted to be an elite military expert, I had to play MORE video games in my youth?
Rampart is a very decent figure for the era. Regarding the finger-flick, and especially the spring-loaded launcher technologies... how many kids actually had eye injuries related to these stupid gimmicks? Anyone ever heard any statistics? It would be interesting to hear an expose on this subject.
Hey guess what? I need an hcc788 fix.💯
Never had one lesson 😂
That’s not a machine gun, it’s properly a cannon. Probably a 20mm single shot. It’s for anti material or anti vehicle work.
Finger flicking good!
I seem to have deja vu
At least Nintendo got a Musca better GI Joe game
JLS comics just did a review of Rampart this past week, and now your reviewing Rampart how ironic.
Yeah, shoreline defender is hardly a military mos. Rampart is another Joe who has a job anyone could do.
I didn't know he was a GI JOE. 🤔
