I did but I never did love it even after the mods. I ended up completely removing the circuit and used the transformers to build a JCM800 with 6V6’s in it. There’s probably a better middle ground in the mods for these. The biggest issue I had after the mods was there was a LOT of gain REALLY early. I could have maybe figured that out but ultimately decided to go handwired.
@@ryanintopeka fair enough.. i may just move the loop to after the channel controls and use it as it is.. i get why they wanted to make it like a "pedal loop" but i tend not to use pedals much for my dirt, but would find a 6v6 power stage useful in such a portable head.. I have a modulus 5e3 kit to build anyway so not all that bothered about vintage circuit correctness in the TSA, I am just generally a fan of 6v6s and its slim pickings when that's your jam
Ive got a NOS pair of RCA 12AX7'S and 6V6's I want to swap into my TSA15 combo. Just dont know if it has to be re-biased for that though. Does anyone here know?
I would definitely check and set the bias for proper dissipation. I can’t remember if there’s a bias test point inside (been months and months since I’ve been in it now.) but there probably is.
@@ryanintopekaI havent been into it, to see if it has a way to adjust it or not. When i purchased it, i was under the impression that it didnt have, but since i got, seems like ive heard it does. So i have no idea. I know nothing about electronics. I have a 70's solid state Peavey and a 2014 Blackstar stereo amp. The Ibanez is the only tube amplifier Ive had. So im completely ignorant of what to do with it. Wish I could go back in time, and instead of getting the Ibanez, I'd have just forked out a few more dollars, and got a Blues Jr. They are nearly double the price now, than they were 5 or 6 years ago.
@@1980bwc I feel you. They’re really cool but they definitely have some issues. There is a bias pot inside but mine was glued so well it was immovable.
Nice work, I'd love to see the revised schematic
I asked some questions on the marshall forum on the thread about this. Thanks
Man, can almost feel the strings vibration through my earphones! Beautiful!
I want to make these mods to mine as well 🤜🏻👑🤛🏻
Did you think about changing the stock
Power Tubes?
did you compile the final list of mods? was thinking of getting mine done and would be great to have it all in one place as reference..

@@stuartbradbury944 I feel that! The JCM800 with the 6V6s is pretty cool. All that chimey great sound at a reasonable volume. Doing about 18 watts.
