As a violinist, I always think it is so funny that the oboe completely steals the show in the second movements of Brahm's violin concerto and Barber's violin concerto. I also really love the oboe solo in Don Juan, Strauss.
Awwwwww such an incredibly uplifting video!! Thank you so much dear Zeke. I took up the oboe just under six months ago, hubby has rented me one for six months trial, and I absolutely love it!! Looking forward to having one of my very own soon. I love Rossini's "Thieving Magpie" and Ennio Morricone's "Gabriel's Oboe" too. I have the music for "Gabriel's Oboe", both with piano accompaniment and also to be played as a solo piece, and it's absolutely gorgeous! I'm learning that and also "Walking in the Air" from "The Snowman". Of course learning the oboe has been very challenging, but I'm absolutely delighted to have begun on this amazing journey which started on my last birthday!! We went to a lovely music shop not far from us so that I could try an oboe out, and came home with one that same afternoon!! How awesome is that!!!!!! I still have lots to learn, but I'm really loving every minute. Both my nephew and niece also play the oboe, and my niece has just recently graduated from the Royal College of Music playing her oboe and Cor Anglais. So now we have three oboists in the family which is very exciting!! 🥰
You are most welcome! Thank you for sharing your oboe story! I’m glad you have many other oboists in your family too! Perhaps you all can work on a trio or something fun soon!
The fingering is similar to the tenor sax. Interesting since the air needed to play either is so vastly different, but it is the reason I liked to play jazz on oboe and Toto's, "Gorgy Porgy". I always thought it would be cool to hook my oboe up to a synthesizer somehow. How often do you get requests for the snake charming song? Lol. I used to play the Happy Birthday sing a lot, too.
brahms violin concerto slow movement, swan lake tchaikovski, verdi la forza del destino overture, bach cantatas, any mozart piano concerto , dvorak symphonies,

Can you compare the Loree and Marigaux?
Yeah I’d like to but I don’t own either so it would be hard to compare. Maybe in the future I might be able to.
Wow you're playing is so beautiful! 😍
I was wondering if you are still interested in a collab, as you mentioned before? 😊
Thank you! And yes, I’ll send you an email. Thank you for following up! 😊
