They’ll never be forced to leave by the authorities. Australia has @ 80 000 people who have failed in every legal way to be approved to remain. The government has been able to deport less than 20! But good luck to Spain, maybe it will succeed where all other countries have failed.

Most agricultural concerns try to fit their production to what they think they can sell, but even so a lot of produce gets dumped every year. If Frutas y Verduras Massanassa didn't have this contract, they probably would not grow them at all. The one thing that EVs excel at is low end grunt. 100% of the motor's torque available at all times, including at low speed. The drive up to my house is *very* steep, my second hand 2016 EV has no problems at all. A 2020 2-litre petrol car struggles on the same hill.
*But* steep hills do use a lot of energy per km driven, be that petrol, diesel or electric energy, because physics. The Canary Islands are small so the usual nightly charge will be more than enough to get you around.

I think getting up a hill in an electric car would be easier than a gas car. I have an electric car and the pickup is so powerful that you just tap the pedal and the car surges forward so fast that your stomach drops. I have to be very careful to just gently touch it. It feels like you are on a roller coaster. My brother in law commented that the car goes so fast so quickly that he almost peed on himself.

I don't know if this is another one of your jokes that I didn't get but Canada has a circular migration system where people come to pick vegetables for a few months and then return home. I'm not aware of a major problem of abuse. Has Spain tried a temporary worker program and did people return to their country after the visa was up? Such a program may make it more difficult for the illegal migrants to get by.

    • @welshtoro3256

Spain's extensive southern agricultural production is dependent on African slave labour. Many of them have their passports removed and work in conditions that are hell on earth.
