I grew up in New Jersey and remember hearing about jungle habitat, then six flags Great adventure opened Great adventure and people went there for the drive thru safari park. When I was 17 I got a job at six flags Great Adventure.
My parents took me here as a kid but I honestly do not remember anything except the Jungle Habitat bumper sticker that graced my parents station wagon for years. I think (though could be wrong), that they just applied to any car in the lot. I do not see that my dad would have put this on.
Oh the countless times I’ve been in what’s left of this place, I live in town lol, Never saw it open! But I do see what remains, seeing the remaining empty exhibits were a treat though !
This place is like ten minutes from where I live lol, the town holds firework shows there still every year or so. The old parking lots fill up occasionally. The show isn’t held near the old attractions though it’s off in a field somewhere
I didnt get to go, but I do remember the ads. I would watch Wonderama on weekends and later on I enjoyed American Bandstand and Soul Train. I graduated to and anything that Don Kirshner produced. I definately grew up in front of the tv. It all started with Kaptain Kangaroo and Bunny Rabbit.
@Sandra Carson-Price Poor management, horrible physical boulder-ridden environment to see animals in didnt help. The escapes put pressure on town to close it down and their threats to do so did them in.
do you take story submissions? like true stories...i have some messed up stories about higbees and things I've witnessed.. especially the ghost tracks. even went there for the eclipse... dead silence
I went there as a kid, our car broke down in the middle of it. I remember lions right next to the car, it was scary.
In the early 90s my friends swore they saw a kangaroo along Lower Berkshire Valley Rd in Roxbury…
glad to see you guys uploading content again

They did stick it on every car in the lot. My dad was really pissed.

The airport runway is where they launch the fireworks to avoid setting the woods on fire.

My neighbor smuggled two peacocks out of the park just before the shooting began.
I still go there interesting place
I've been there twice growing up in NYC. Got lost once and almost would up in the animal section.
Whoever drove that station wagon musta been scared....😂
They say there are wild strange animlas in West Milford were Jungle Habitat was......scary
I went to Jungle Habitat. I rode that elephant. I can't believe they just abandoned all those animals 😔
This needs an update on “what it is today”I’d be happy to film it indie and send it in for free!
Interesting that Warner Bros owned it. Was that the inspiration for Six Flags Wild Safari?
Jungle Habitat pre-dated Great Adventure.
I think the opening of the Wild Safari at Great Adventure (It wasn't Six Flags back then) was what lead to Jungle Habitat closing.

Fun fact: I lived around this place😅
