I am a former registered nurse, I was taught the "corporate " way to heal, but it didn't work for me. I spent 2 years on my couch, until I found good, clean food and natural healing through herbs and such. Now I'm up at 5am, I work my farm every day, and I feel 100 percent! Doing it Gods way!

Back in the day the reason behind spring break was so the kids could help the local farmers get crops into the ground and summer break was so kids could help in the fields. That was the whole reasoning behind those two school breaks. They earned a little cash and the farmers got help. It was truly a win win situation and we need to head back that way.

Expanding to a second garden for sweet potato, squash, and zucchini.

We live in city limits. One neighbor has a pet goat & pet pig. In past, the goat slipped out of the fenced yard. A police officer stopped & put him back in the yard. I have 2 pet chickens that supply me with 2 eggs per day. Another neighbor recently had their sewer lines checked out. The sewer guy, who does not live here, noticed the goat & pig. My little chicken house was @ corner of my front porch. He didn't see my girls. After the sewer guy left, he reported the pig & goat to the city. As long as no one complains, city doesn't care about the animals. The lady who has the pig & goat is going to court to protect her rights from a busybody. My kids moved my girls to back yard . took pains to hide their coop. I have cancer & it was easier for me to sit on front porch & visit my girls. One good thing, my neighbors both were born here & know almost everybody. I imagine nobody will want to hire him after they think about him minding other people's business.

People don't realize how bad inflation is. My first home cost $25,500. Of all the cars I've had, most cost under $2000. I only bought a new car once for my husband in 1975 ($2450 and sold it 10 years later for $2500) and once for myself in 1983 ($5757 but $8787 out the door). When it lasted 193,000+ miles I just started buying that make with 100k miles on it and driving it another almost 100k.
In high school in the early 1970s we bought full size candy bars in bulk for a nickle and sold them for a dime. What are they now? $2.xx each and they're smaller?
My first horse cost $6 to trim and $20 for shoes all the way around. Now it costs $20-$40 for a trim (depending on where you live -- probably even higher some places). And shoes are I don't $100+?
I could buy 3 wire 120 lb. bales of alfalfa for $4.25 in the field and $7.25 at the feed store. Now they're well over $20 each.
We haven't seen anything, yet. It is really taking off now. Shortages are here and worsening. Hyper-inflation is coming.

The gentleman was a retired plumber and knew like a lot of us how to do most anything but because of age just wasn't able to do this house. They wanted a full basement and the back side was completely exposed. The lady of the house wanted an old timey kitchen, wood and cook stove for daily use and canning. She wanted a dirt floor! The county inspectors told them they could not do that. Shorten the story, the old timer paid cash for it all, told the inspectors and county what they could do and mom got her dirt floor. Karen, we're working on paying off our mortgage, and it's tough, because unless something miraculous happens, it will take several years. It's hard to stay motivated when something takes so long. So I recommend setting some milestone goals. For instance, first we set a goal of owing less than $100,000. We celebrated when we hit that goal. Now we're trying to get below $90,000. We'll celebrate when that happens. These small wins help us to feel like we're accomplishing something even when we still have so far to go.

Smaller house with three boys in one bedroom, square foot gardening in the yard, each family member had one 4x4 bed to take care of, canning done to have food for the winter, kiddos got one activity until high school. We did what we could. The kiddos have picked this up as well. We saved a lot in child care. No birthday parties, we took the money for family trip like camping instead. Roughing it as much as possible. Looked for the best discounts. Every family is different. Just change your thinking.

My grandmother went to work as Postmaster to support herself and three children, my mother being the oldest. My grandmother started showing signs of dementia, and my mother had to go to work to help her fix her mistakes. In 1942, my mother became FT postmaster. Things did not change when she married in 1951. My dad worked in the post-office to support his sister (who had been raised as a spoiled brat) and did NOTHING. I found that person when I was in my late teens, but I lost my way for forty years and wandered the wilderness. Two years ago, my ego died and I didn’t know who I was. Now, I am doing what I was meant to do. I had to learn from tons of mistakes along the way. I am going to be what I want to be, not what the ‘system’ wants me to be. I have gotten rid of all my loans except that ‘d’ house note, but I am working on that right now. You sound like my grandfather. Hey moved in, my grandma said they moved in with tarps for the walls and the roof and he had never built a house. My grandmother said he had no idea what he was doing, but you ought too see what a beautiful house he built. My aunt is 90 years old and still lives in that house. I told her that I would one day want to buy that house and I will truly be back home. I lived my first 3 years in that house...

I have talked to so many people about the real issues, that being, local "Zoning" laws and the "protective covenants" on lands becoming more and more intrusive and denying folks RIGHTS to build their own house and live how they want... We here in Ohio have to go way out into the hills to find unzoned lands to build a homestead (which is probably true for most areas), but either way, people are not as free as they think they are. Gonna keep praying.... Amen again. Thanks for the chat.

My history is very similar to yours and I'm in my 60's also. As a kid my family was mostly self sufficient, we were farmers 700 acres of dairy, beef cattle, hogs, sheep, poultry, corn, wheat, soy beans & hay. I've lived all these extra costs added to everything due to regulations and laws imposed little by little over time. Roadblocks implemented by building permits and codes which added costs to getting started and then dealing with the banks to borrow money, more than you needed to spend to get your project under way, only to find out that you don't earn enough money to satisfy the bankers to secure the loan due to government regulations and the bank requirements. Over the years the new normal became a burden very hard to overcome and the younger people never knew about the freedom and liberty we had just a few decades earlier. I wholeheartedly agree with today's talk, you and Wanda do an awesome job getting information out to many other people. Godspeed.

"Targeted" is such a perfect term! Thing is, you can ignore the hype - it's all about free choice. To heck with "appearances". We wanted to retire early which meant getting out of debt. Had to make choices: new cars or old? Got rid of the new and fancy, got ones older and basic. Our vehicles are 11 and 14 years old, and husband keeps them well maintained. Got rid of our weekend getaway at a local lake, saved thousands. Vacations? Nah, haven't taken one in 10 years - watching the vegetable garden bloom while steaks are grilling is better than snorkeling in the Bahamas anyway ;-) We chose that and retired at 62 and 58, respectively, with no debt. For the last couple of years we've been looking for more rural, more land, more South than Indiana. There's just nothing out there unless you're wealthy. We're kind of past the build your own now, and we renovated a dozen homes over the years so we know the work. Sure do envy your set-up and can agree 1000% on spineless sheep and entitled "officials". Love your porch time talks!

I'm planting like there's no tomorrow, because 'tomorrow' is going to look like nothing that the younger generation has ever seen. Many will be bewildered, and in a wilderness, of sorts. I'm no spring chicken, but I'm planting and gardening as much every day that my little bitty body can manage. I'm worn out, at the end of the day, after starting as soon as the sun rises, taking a break in the heat of the day, then back at it in the evening. I sometimes wish I had the strength of a man, to move things around and do things faster, but I know it will eventually get done. Thank you for your encouraging words. You nailed it Danny. I live in California and we are trapped. We could sell our home for a profit but our families live locally. My wife does not want to leave the state. With people fleeing California, the prices in Oregon, Washington, Idaho, etc have skyrocketed.

Same boat here! I transformed our small 7200 sqft property into a kind of homestead. Raise chickens for eggs and meat, turned my front yard into a garden with fruit trees, and use the waste from animals as fertilizer. The city didnt like my chickens and I am trying to work with them to allow people in residential zoning to raise “reasonable” livestock on their property provided they use management practices that eliminate odors and noise. The city is working on that now. The sad thing is that our city was a very heavily agricultural city with dairies and farms. We have gotten so far away from that here and they don’t allow people more than three chickens on their property and they have to get prior approval.

    Hello from east Ky.
I was led to get back to gardening last year. It was very fruitful. A lady at church reminded me of the 7 years of feast that was followed by seven years of famine in the days of Joseph in the Bible. Great advice!

It was just amazing to see how after being all fired up at the ways of man, you mentioned the word of the Lord, and the joy and peace just replaced all that. Beautiful to see.

Thank you. I live outside the US but I see it coming, the control, the intrusion into everybody's life. Ordinary- people are going to have a hard time. The very rich appear to all be sociopathic. Their new message is 'You will own nothing and you will be happy ". They're talking about a renting/shared economy, pushing the idea, but who is going to own all the stuff we rent/share?

You remind me of my Dad they came out to perk the land in 86 and told him that it wouldn't work my Dad said I am going to build a house right here... you do what you got to .. We dug those footers with a tiller and a shovel. I am proud to say my Dad lives in that house we built to this day. I bought land right beside him. Love your videos.
