I have to order it online from either our BJs Club chain stores and have it delivered or from Amazon. The only local brand is Vigoro and it’s not anywhere close the quality
So many views but so little likes. If I could like 300 times, I would. This looks amazing. I've been thinking about rubber mulch for a while. After seeing yours, I am definitely doing this. Thank you.
We are elderly 76-80 good health but do you think we should try this? We have a 10’x20’ to do probably want 2” depth, how much would we need of shredded rubber mulch?
Based on loose math, 10*20 = 200sq ft. I bag covers 9.6 sq ft. @ 1" depth - 200 / 9.6 = 20.8 bags * 2 for 2 inch depth would be roughly 42 bags - If I did the math correctly
I love the look of the rubber mulch in my yard, but my problem is weeds. Would recommend using cardboard ( not really a fan of the weed fabric) underneath the rubber even though it doesn't decompose like the wood mulch?
@@SteveWallo Ive worked around wood mulch as well installing pool fencing and gates etc but its nowhere near as bad as the rubber stuff. I wont weld around that stuff anymore.
How often do I need to apply "ArmorAll Tire Shine" to maintain the color? Should I be concerned about the petroleum base of the product eventually contaminating ground water? I have 2 dogs, is this product safe if they eat it? Looks great
raskel71 Ha! Good one...so I’m going to do an update video soon and you can see what it looks like after this past winter. Whatever leeches from the mulch is likely to be minuscule but I’m betting the company website has exact rates. It’s approved for use in playgrounds so I’m guessing it’s fine for the dogs as well! Thanks for the comment!
Duquette Beats definitely won’t melt, lol! But I’m guessing that consistently high temps and sun exposure may reduce the life of the mulch. The company guarantees for at least 10 years I believe. Also does not float in heavy rain at least in my area. We have experienced more than a few downpours and haven’t had any issues. Again, this may vary depending on your landscape and drainage on your property. Thanks for the comment!!
Don't by from Amazon 3rd party. Shipping is a total ripoff. One bag delivered for $60 or even $30. Forget it. Buy from Home Depot and get 10 bags at $7.47 each and delivered for $8.99.
The 1st year, I pulled weeds, after that we started using Preen every 3 mos. and it seems to work great! Every once in a while you get a few but hasn't been an issue since.
@@scotthockey959 Sure! We currently have the following in these beds - Crocuses, tulips, irises, day lilies, Asiatic lilies, allium and hyacinth - everything comes through every year with no issues...well except for chipmunks that eat my tulip bulbs!
So i wanna put rubber mulch in my front yard. Its very patchy and sun really doesnt reach this area. Do i need to put anything down first before I start mulching?
I would consider adding landscape fabric (double layer) to the area before laying down the rubber mulch. It will help suppress weeds and keep your much from sinking into the dirt.
@@MB-yw6rd Nice video. My personal experience with rubber mulch: I am not convinced using fabric underneath is the best approach because rubber mulch doesn't break down like wood so you will have to eventually pull a lot of weeds through fabric or pull the rubber off and remove the weed infiltrated fabric.
Awww that's look great. Good job :-)
Thank you! We ordered another pallet this Spring and added to the beds that had thinned out over the last couple seasons. Very happy with the product!
Michael Bazinet
Awesome
Wow, that is so beautiful. I made the switch myself. I ignore the backlash from the environmental haters. Rubber is better!!!!
I love the final look and will try it soon in my front yard. Happy to see there are other options so you don't have to replace as often. TFS
Chan Thomas thank you!! I'm glad you found it useful!!
How is the mulch holding up 7 years later?
Looks good!
Love the dog!
He was such a good boy, we miss him dearly…I forgot he was in the video
You're my kind of gardener. Thank you
Why thank you 😊
I seen you posted this in 2015 how is the color looking now?
Does it smell when it gets hot outside?
Initially after spreading yes, after some weathering there’s no smell
Great job looks great
Thanks! Seems to be holding up well
I want to do this but black rubber mulch is so hard to find in my area.
I have to order it online from either our BJs Club chain stores and have it delivered or from Amazon. The only local brand is Vigoro and it’s not anywhere close the quality
It is really informative video about rubber mulch suppliers keep on doing this types of videos and I will recommand to my frnds
Looks really nice

THANK YOU! I'm actually getting ready to refresh the mulch this weekend and will do an update video. So I hope you can come back and check it out :)

Tremaine Joy Hi! I use Preen every three months starting in April, no weeds 😊
I use round up after I tiller the dirt and before I put the mulch down. Also make sure you hit it every 3 months
How is the mulch holding up?
How is it holding up?
Great job Mike, lovely
Grace Grace Thank you!
Are you stil pleased after 7 years?
I am doing the same project but putting weed fabric down first.
That stuff is extremely flammable. If you have any welding or BBQ going on keep a fire extinguisher on deck
Thanks for the heads up 👍
Oh wow I was just going to buy some for my apartment! 😱
As a side note, wood mulch is also flammable.
@@SteveWallo Ive worked around wood mulch as well installing pool fencing and gates etc but its nowhere near as bad as the rubber stuff. I wont weld around that stuff anymore.
Wood mulch attract bugs such as termites. If used incorrectly rubber mulch seems to be the lesser of two evils.

How did it do with runoff after a rain compared to the wood mulch?
The only issues I seem to have is with Spring and Fall cleanup - the landscapers tend to blow it around quite a bit
Looks nice. Do you think it will hold well in Kansas heat? Or will it melt lol or even rise an float during heavy rain

Have your tires ever melted?
You didn’t have to lay down weed barrier or cloth before mulching, did you?
TheSecDef Technically, you probably should, I personally didn’t because I was in process of doing a lot of flower transplants
good job !!!!!how's the smell they said it has somenrubberybsmell on summer
Jonark Villanueva Zero smell! 👍😉
Thanks I’m gonna subscribe to you now if you don’t mind lol
how deep do you have it? i have about 1- 2 inches in some spots 3-4 inches. lilies you think no issue growing through that?
No issues at all with Crocuses, Lilies, Irises or tulips!
How much did you pay for the pallet?
Just under $700

How much for bag ? And did u have the website ? How much bag did u ordered ?
Tony MTA I ordered from our local club chain called BJs, it was $549 for 20, 2 cu. ft. bags
M B wow is not cheap
Tony MTA very true, but color is also guaranteed for 12 years, so the investment up front feels worth it over time
Seen it 6 7 bucks a bag look online great job I’m getting ready to do it
this looks great!! is this black mulch? or dark brown? i want to get the same color 🤩🤩
Thanks!! Black shredded 👍
@@MB-yw6rd thank you 🙏🏻💖
if you haven't put any landscape fabric below, that thing is gonna look like crap as soon as weeds gonna start poking through.

+Michael Bazinet any problems with weeds?
+IamSuave I always use Preen to keep weeds down and between both it's weed free!
looks great
