    The rubber seems not treated or coated. She should've spend extra amount for good treated rubber.

      I got mulch which was treated and coloured. But it is a nightmare childrens shoes and clothes are destroyed. They look like they have been down a coal mine. The company will do nothing!

      That's a chemical do you know what it does to humans let alone kids that are still growing? What kind of defects will it cause these kids in the future do you know? Everything I seem to get in mail comes with a warning "this product has stuff known to cause cancer" Why does everything we made cause cancer?

      ​@Bewefau vinegar is mainly water and acetic acid which is produced naturally via fermentation or artificially. But it's very simple and we've been using it since around 5000bce, it's not bad.
      This may have been a facetious comment but I couldn't tell.

    I know people are criticizing her for crying, but $10k is a lot of money and these contractors are lying scum. She’s probably crying out of frustration more than anything.

    We have someone call our office almost everyday with the exact same issue, Black dust on kids, wire in the mulch, paint coming off etc....

    Looks like Coal. I woulda used a light color. I'm guessing the packed down professional rubber woulda been too expensive judging on the type of playground equipment/toys they have.

      Vacuum it all up with a shop vac... legit all you have to do and reuse it for Landscaping and shit.... It doesn't take a smart person to know common sense but some people just built different I guess. Seriously women have it so easy lmao 🤣

    Not sure what brand they used by I did my kids playground in our yard with brown rubber mulch seven years ago and I have no issues. Went with rubber because we have woods behind our house and the animals seem not to mess with it. Barely any weeds and I went 3 inches deep with a flexible edging and it looks great.

    Yes its unpainted you can see the white tire fibers. If she would of got a painted product this wouldn't of happened.

    I remember playing on rubber mulch never thought about the difference between natural mulch and rubber mulch, now that I think about it my hands/toys were stained 😯

      There are OUTSTANDING rubber mulches out there that DO NOT stain, the was cheap landscaping mulch, not playground mulch.

    Easy fix...vacuum the material and wash - then seal it...simple enough the "con-tractor" should have processed the material BEFORE INSTALLATION!

      Contractors dont process materials... They install. It's up to the manufacturer to 'process' the material they are selling.
      When you do things on a budget, this is what happens.

    *****CONTRACT!!! there ARE rubber mulch for such purpose. IPEMA CERTIFIED. AND WHY IN THE WORLD WOULD YOU GET BLACK?? I'm callin' BS on this! either you should have kept contractor liable THRU CONTRACT and known what you were getting in the "DEAL" or the "REAL DEAL" was you were trying to go CHEAP and use recycled tire mulch that HAD NO IPEMA CERTIFICATIONS!!!*****

    Parents should have all chipped in for creating the problem. Kids clothes got a little dirty from a natural wood chips/fiber with or without coloring. A complained enough another route was tried an it backfired.
    What did they not want to do wash their kids clothes or something good lord.
    An if it was bad. It’s not like every other kid wouldn’t have the same type of uniform marks so your kid wasn’t like the odd one out. A their not there for a job interview or something good lord. Them people are quite pathetic

      They required by law to have liability insurance yes

      I don't see liability insurance paying for a contract dispute. That would be covered by a contractor's bond, which is relatively rare to have contractors have that coverage. Her other alternative is to sue the contractor if the contract wasn't actually met, or to sue the mulch company if it wasn't as advertised or didn't warn about causing stains. If the contract didn't specify non-staining mulch or the equivalent mulch conforming to that standard, she has no expectation of recovery.
