The genre is Twenty One Pilots. He wrote this song after he found out several of their fans had taken their own lives. He's dealt with thoughts like that himself, so it hit him hard.
@@ladrac198 when they were playing guns for hands live, or literally when he wrote it?? because tbf there's really no way to know when he actually wrote it, he could've written that when he was 17 for all we know, i mean that's when he wrote trees
@@ladrac198 okay, so i've just listened to the guns for hands commentary, and it seems like you're sort of right, but not entirely. he says it was inspired by a show that he played in ohio that was basically just a barn full of kids, and that those kids felt inclined to approach tyler after the show and tell him about their struggles, depression, suicidal thoughts, etc. he said it made him realize that what he was going through was not just an isolated event. he said that guns for hands is about telling those other kids feeling the same way as him that he knows what they're going through, and that he knows what its like to be aware of the ability you have to end your life at any moment, but to instead direct that energy toward something better, like art, music, etc.
Your interpretation was very good - he made the song when he found out he had younger fans with suicidal thoughts- so he's basically telling them he can't sleep because he knows they have the ability to harm themselves but he wants them to use his music to fight those thoughts
I’ve gotta say that one of the most powerful moments of my life was seeing this performed live. Such a beautiful thing to see how unified in sentiment a song can make people. One song, thousands of people, different backgrounds, different situations, but this song meant the same to each and every one of us. Hope. Power. We turned our guns into fists. ✊🏽
Because Tyler (the singer rapper songwriter) battles with depression suicide and self harm. So he wrote this song when he continued growing more and more concerned when receiving letters from fans saying they were suicidal self harming and wanted to die. He wanted to encourage them to keep fighting no matter what.
So glad you're back making videos again and this was a great choice to get back into twenty one pilots, love how upbeat it sounds despite the heaviness of the lyrics. I love the line 'it's obviously best for them to turn their guns into a fist' and the reminder to keep fighting instead of ending things and channel your emotions into another outlet, like music.
Watching these reaction videos make me fall in love with the clique even more - been in the clique since Vessel and getting stronger with each album. I love love the support these reactions have for not only the musicality of the band but also Tyler’s incredibly heart wrenching lyrics. And seeing them live is truly an out of body experience because it’s like we are all this really big family of depressed anxious suicidal fans who love good genuine relatable lyrics. #foreveraclikkie
Your understanding of the lyrics are correct, Sir. With the feelings of depression and the self harm some people do to themselves it can have deadly results. Just as deadly as if they used a gun to hurt themselves. I’m just now finding your channel, and I dig your content. Color me Subbed!

Hi loved to see you again after being suffering from covid. ❤ pls react to justin bieber freedom ep you will love it. Pls check your mail. I have mailed you
It´s not my interpretation. Tho is talking about suicide in a first take, rlly seems to me about bullying. First of all cause the guns = suicide, seems to me too simple for their usual methaforms and second because the end of the song is a take for a solution to it: To show them you have no shame on yourself and who you are so they will stop "shooting" you. He cant sleep cause people are trying to hurt him with their words and actions, that are their guns.

are you sure that's true? i mean, guns for hands was on regional at best, so i'm not really sure they would've had "fans" at that point in time
@@DJDipstick my cousin lived in Ohio at the time and they were HUGE in the region
