Great job Dutch, I can't imagine that I would do it any differently. The receiver pin is a nice touch.
Thanks SE, it was a lot of work but I'm happy with the turn out.
This was pretty slick- That pin deal was genius- I'm gonna start working on mine thanks
That's pretty slick setup, the only down side is having to reach up under the truck to put the pin in. Glad you came up with a better way to pin it.
It was annoying getting muddy the first time, back to the drawing board I went. Still works great to this day btw. Thanks for watching!
So amazing! Thank you for making this possible.
That is a very slick set up... Nice work!
Thanks! It was a lot of work but well worth it
Impressive! Great job!
Thanks!
Pretty awesome. I would have had that pin hole sticking out of the front.. instead of having to reach under, but i see you had a solution even easier.. on the other hand, you can't see the hole to know it's lined up when you insert something..
This is AWESOME & exactly what I want!!
Great. Now go do it!!! and let us know how it went
Great ideas, thank you! Clean look.
Thanks for watching!
Very nice.
U should build a bunch of them and sell them as a complete kit. I would buy one for my 2017 F-150. Definitely what I am wanting and bet millions more are to.
😁❤👍👍👍👍👍👍
Thanks. I thought about it, but the installation is pretty darn tough, unless you are pretty good with tools. I hope my design free on youtube will help people DIY.
Man, that’s a great set up. I’ve been looking at front mount hitch but, like you said you loose some clearance. Man, I love the way yours turned out. Great job. I don’t know how to weld but, I bet I can find a welding shop that can build this for me. Thanks for sharing
Thanks 👍
Impressive. Good job. Two receiver's would lesson that rocking.
Thanks!
Nice I need one
It's soooo handy
Epic!
Thanks
Great job. I wish I could do that on my 2019 F150 but mine has a set of electric powered shutters in that opening.
Hmmm, so does mine, but behind the grill, not all the way at the bottom. I wonder how different these trucks are? You might still be able to make it happen.
awesome.
Thanks!
Awsome, i was just looking at the curt and just like you stated it is too low. I haven't looked underneath to see that the crash bar slots go through the frame. I also like that you retained the crash bars. Great job
Oh yeah, I didn't want to change the structure, just add to it.
@@dutchofsc my problem is that mine is an ecoboost.
@@shroom903 now that changes everything.
@@shroom903
There is a guy on RUclips who did the hidden winch on his EcoBoost F150, a 2019 I think. Just do a search for EcoBoost F150 hidden winch. If I remember correctly (just watched it a couple of days ago) he mounted his intercooler in front of the radiator. He used a Rough Country hidden winch mount.
Got a 2019 and was looking at curt or draw-tie but the front clearance suffers. Wish I can get an aftermarket one ready to install like this. This is amazing solution for us ecoboosters, a hinch mounted winch for wheelin. Thanks for idea, I will try to see if anyone around me here in Socal and fab me one of these. Thanks DutchOfSC.
Don't you have the cooler in that opening? I'm not sure if that will fit, but please, let me know
@@dutchofsc That is correct. The only way I could see this working on an Ecoboost would be to relocate the intercooler.
Nice project. The only thing I would have done differently is to use TWO receiver tubes welded close to the frame members. This would give the winch far more ability to pull sideways without worrying about bending the single receiver tube or the frame member it is bolted to. It would also give you the ability to create a rack system for when you need to haul long lumber or ladders, etc. over the cab. Two receiver tubes at te rear would make for a nice square frame that could be removable but still hold a load voer the truck without woyrring about side tipping forces.
Interesting point Joe, thanks
this is great-how has it held up over the years? I might try one too
Great. No issues at all
Dude…. I am gonna have to see about doing something similar to this. These commercially made front mount hitch receivers are pretty useless off road
Agreed.
If you don’t mind me asking. What are the measurements of the cross bar that you installed? I love this design and looking at doing it on my truck
That "thing" is for aerodynamics .directing air through the fenders
So trash then? Lol, Thanks for letting me know.
@@dutchofsc 🤣 yep
Hey Cheif ran into you at Lowe’s a few months ago. Was wondering if you are still in SC
Sure thing! Did you get your front mount for moving trailer done?
I’m surprised you don’t have a drill press
I wish. One day when I build my shop.
You know rough country makes a hidden winch plate right?
Link?
Do you have a list of materials needed?
This was mostly metal from the junk yard or stuff i already have.
That is what I am looking for. How much?
Custom job, this took me several days to figure out and make happen. Maybe you can use this as a guide. Let me know how it goes.
Could you make a kit to sell?
I thought about it but the skill and work involved would probably make it out of reach. I give you all the information free in this video, hope you can make it work. Let me know if you come up on any snags.
very nice job
Thank you very much!
what is the length on the tube and angle?
Are you talking about the "cross member"?
THIS IS SEXY CHIEF!!!!!!!!!!!! I want to do something similar, but I am not sure I wont jack it up!
Thanks. Give it a try
now mass produce it and sell it on ebay and amazon
I thought about it but it was such a PAIN and took so much time, I would rather just have a free guide if someone wants do attempt the install.
What a pain in the ass.
Lots of work, took several days but man an I happy with it.
All that time and money...........I'll call a tow truck.
Bro be a man.
These days tow trucks might make you wait 4 to 6 hours or the next day! and at what cost?
