Rugby is getting more popular each day. I started a rugby club and we travel and play other high school teams. Local college "Arkansas State University" , is ranked 2nd in nation in college Rugby. I started rugby without a coach, entered tournaments with 11 guys, we played without no experience and with shortage of players. After couple months, we found a coach and won every game from there on and out. Some people doubted us in school, saying we wont ever have a rugby team. They was wrong
dont worry dude. your story is inspirational. i am from south africa. and have lived in new zealand for ten year and now we moved back to south africa.i have been playing 1st XV rugby and it is so nice to see how rugby has progressed around the world. good luck it would be nice to see USA and Canada tour south africa and NZ for more experience or have a end of year tour to the usa.
The NZ Maori try starting at 2:44 has to be one of the greatest team tries ever. There was one they scored against the Irish that was bloody good as well

I don't understand this infantile willy-waving/grumbling about League vs Union. Both are great games, they are different and neither is better than the other. Watch both, enjoy both, and have a beer while celebrating a game in which all players can knock the crap out of each other on the pitch ( men AND women) then get together and be mates afterwards

Piri Weepu snapped the bone in his leg clean in half, had the thing facing the other way on tv. During a game I also broke my friend's leg in 3 places and he needed several ops and plates put in to fix it. I also know of two young guys, one was Darryl Sabin who suffered severe brain damage after being tackled. The other was Chico Paparoa who was revived 3 times on the field after suffering a heart attack for the same reason. They went to my high school. Ankle sprains and broken wrists? Please.

i like southern hemisphere better also. the largest problem with northern hemisphere is there's way to much kicking. fly half's numbers in games regularly turn out being 7 for 10. this in my opinion stems the flow of the game drastically.
or any northern hemisphere tries. no denying that its a higher standard in the south, but people like brian o driscoll, jason robinson seem to get forgotten when they are amazing
Actually, as both a rugby player and a European, we're taught that Rugby is much safer to play than American Football. Speaking just from a physics standpoint, the extra mass that is added just from the gear makes the impacts way more dangerous. Football mentality = having a helmet means headbutts/more dangerous plays which yield an increase in potential damage. Skin to skin vs hard gear to hard gear...well, that's quite a difference. But Rugby is by far a more demanding sport. ^_^
I'm a rugby fan but football defo has harder hits. Thats because football is designed for that. The players use anaerobic fitness, that means they use short, powerful bursts of energy. Its like one hit every ten minutes for them. In rugby players use aerobic fitness, so instead of releasing all their energy in one supercharged hit, they use their energy across 80 minutes of intense play. Football isn't an endurance sport its about concentrated bursts of power. Rugby is about stamina/endurance.

I've played rugby all my life in NZ. Now I mostly watch NFL as you know that it's the highest form of competition. Every four years rugby players play their best but everything in between is meaningless. I believe there would be about fifty NFL guys that would carve up on the wing if they played for about a year.
