I have a question around notifications when someone posts comments on a recorded video that is hosted on sharepoint (stream on sharepoint). I know a specific person's name can be tagged by prefix of @. I'm trying to find if there is a way to tag everyone in the list as one group (all the individuals that can be mentioned/tagged on an individual basis?) The requirement is to have SharePoint/Stream on SharePoint send an automatic email notification to all who were part of the original training session that was recorded and shared on Stream on Sharepoint) Please could you advise a solution? Thank you, Krishna
Hey this was super helpful! After you paste the embed code, you can click the "full screen" icon under the settings cog and it focuses more on just the Discussion threads without all of the extra menus visible.
@@sipwhitemocha There is a small icon in the upper-right-hand corner that allows you to focus on the content only. It works for me though I'll be testing this further to see if other users have the same view.
@@LuiIacobellis Can you make the "Content Only" as part of the embed code eliminating the necessity of the enduser to click that button? New subscriber! Thanks!
This was very helpful - worked exactly as in the video!! I removed many of the links on the left of the discussion board, to make it look a bit cleaner.
I'm confused. Why do a workaround to add the old discussion board app to modern SharePoint, when you can do the exact same thing in modern using a Yammer webpart?
How do you get from the "modern" experience to the old one to find your discussions? When I go to Site Contents like you did there was no discussion link at the bottom. You talk about the different interfaces again around 2:50, but how do we get to the old interface? Then at about 3:25 you talk about navigating to the discussion board but not how to get there (unless it is through Site Contents). Would appreciate any help as I have a teacher that REALLY wants a discussion board.
Go to settings - site contents - edit In the bottom left corner you should see "return to classic sharepoint" From there, you should be able to add bulletin board from the "add an app" button
Hi there, Sorry for the delay. You would navigate to the discussion board from the Site Contents unless you embed it somewhere else on your site (i.e. on a page OR in your quick launch navigation menu). When you click into your discussion board, it will automatically open in the classic expeirence because that is the only experience the app is available in. I hope this helps and thanks for watching.
Hi there, it would depend entirely on your use-case. I've used a SharePoint list to facilitate discussions and/or Q&A. Microsoft also has specific apps called Yammer and now Viva Engage which can also be used to facilitate discussions about specific topics. Hope this helps and thanks for watching!
Hi! Thanks for sharing. How ever, how do you create the discussion board in first placer? I should go to classic view, create the page with the discussion board, come back to the modern and follow that process? Thanks in advance!
Hi there, I have another tutorial demonstrating how to add the discussion board to a site. ruclips.net/video/6dD1qKXx2Ng/видео.html this tutorial demonstrates how to embed it on a page after its been created. Hope this helps and thanks for watching
Hi. I am currently trying to create a subscribe button on a sharepoint site. Any ideas? For context. I want to create a place where documents are stored and each time a new document is added - it automatically generates to anyone who has subscribed.
I can't get this to work for me, unfortunately. Any idea why it wouldn't? I have the correct List ID and URL, and pasted it into provided but am still getting the "We can't show this embedded content because the code seems to be incomplete." Thank you!
I'm glad you found this video useful Isaac. I've posted a link to a Google doc with the code in the video description. Let me know if you have issues accessing it. Thank you for the comment and for watching
or you could just use the Discussion board URL and it shows you exactly the same thing . You don't need Iframe workaround, just copy and paste the URL and you are good to go :)
Thanks for the comment. Based on my testing of this approach, it doesn't seem to embed the discussion board on the page as the iFrame does. In terms of the steps, I edit the page and add a web part and select "URL" and then paste into the full URL to the discussion board. Please let me know if I am missing something. Thanks for watching!
@@LuiIacobellis Once you create the discussion board, all you have to do is grab the link and then ADD link to your sharepoint site. It works the same way.
@@lotro1974 Thanks for letting me know! Last time I used this approach, it didn't work the exact same as with the iFrame but I'll definitely give it another shot!

This is a very good point. Some people simply prefer the old Discussion Board web part versus Yammer. I've used both and they both work!
Yammer is an additional cost for certain Office 365 plans. It's nice to have a free workaround available. 🙂

Tip: Add IsDlg=1 to the querystring and menu and topbar are surpressed.
I did not know this so thank you for sharing this awesome tip!
@passais or @luilacobellis in the query string does this need to be added? I can't seem to get it to surpress the menu and topbar.
when I add it, "Items" and "List" still show. Is there a way to remove them?
