  • Presented by Karyn Hall, PhD, Licensed Psychologist, DBT Linehan Board of Certification, Certified Clinician, Certified Coach, Certified PE Therapist
A diagnosis of borderline personality disorder not only impacts the individual but also their family and friends. When loved ones understand the disorder and also learn skills to help themselves cope effectively, the prognosis is improved. In this presentation we’ll discuss the symptoms of the disorder and some DBT skills that could be helpful.

Omg for me that’s SO NOT true.
Every single day I was about to kill myself I DID go to work or school. No matter how bad I felt. I would NOT act out on my emotions, I would try to hold on even though I was emotionally going trough hell. I had really good grades and nobody noticed anything for a long time. Yes I can act on emotions. I hurt myself a lot. But I where my mask in public and do it when alone. In the hospital they actually tried to make me show my emotions, but I built super high walls around myself. I need to feel really really safe with someone before I do or in a lot of pain or whatever.
And it’s also not true that they know how to treat it. They can teach you how to not act on your emotions etc. But the agony comes back over and over again. Unless somebody is there like a parent/mother and makes me feel safe. As long as I have at least one person like that I often feel like I can live a normal life. But when they leave, omg
It feels like you’re dying. Like a child without a mother. You can’t live.
I had tons of therapists and therapy, so many years. It did get better since puberty is over I guess. But some things never changed. And I don’t think they can.
Sometimes I’m so very glad to be alive. And so very thankful I kept fighting and for every person who shows love. But it’s so fucking painful still.

I agree with you totally! Your describing it like how I have it. Without the good grades, everything turned really bad for me when I became 13. I was more of a run away self-harming child. And I still feel like I am on the run. Alone like a orphan. So difficult to get rooted no matter where I live. I can appreciate thing and stuff but unable to feel comfort peace. It's very difficult and hard, I hope you're still fighting. For yourself, I have seen how it can be on the "other side". But I do everything in my own way, as long as I still learn about myself. Be your own detective, with yourself as a case. The nut must be cracked :)
One thing that works for me, when am able to take the pain into anger, and then point it at to cause that put it there. And use that as a fuel like I just want to show them am not broken, I will rebuild myself just so I can say fuck you with a smile. :)
I also have a friend that have borderline and there we can vent however we like. We know all our wrongs and rights. No judgement, just support and acceptance. I think that is important to find someone special if it feels OK to give it a chance.
Lots of love!! And a highfive for you showing life how badass you can be!

Huge hugs to you, i do feel you, cause i do feel the same..
Listen.. There is a way to feel better, look into SELF PARENTING TECHNIQUES.. read and research about and than start doing this innerwork, to grown up the inner vhild after having rebalamced the disregulated inner adult, you will see how many positive changees and how much you will feel better! If you can, obviously, do ot with a therapist, but at the worst do it by yourself by journaling.. It will work aswell.. And a good parental figure can be Jordan Peterson with his training(you will find it on his youtube Channel).. Do his training 8f you feel it could resonate, because that training gives the will power that is needed to guid gently but also firmely our inner child preventing it to become a bratt driving our life.
Remember.. The inner adult has to be re rwgulated as aGOOD parent, not our inner enemy, that kindly and always supportively will drive the inner child toward their grown up.
Becoming our iwn self parent is the core to heal and become independent feom that need of mother/parent that we have.
Lets be THERE For OURSELF to become able to be there for others!!!
      A huuuge hug!!

Yes, i was misdiagnosed with bipolar when actually i have bpd. i still take anti psychotics for bipolar but i don't get the help i need to really cope with the stress and the psychotic episodes. i was hospitalised once because of that. The medicine they put me under, was creating problems with my hormones. However, i went back to my old doctor and now i take Qutipin and Clonezopam but i i still can't cope with the mood swings, the anger issues and can't manage stress at all.

Hi. You might have heard it many times. Have you ever thought of trying out yoga, meditation, regular physical exercise, DBT? Stress is often experienced in the body very very strongly and I found it very helpful to learn how to get more into my body. It helps me so much w/stress management. DBT equally is very helpful.

But it is absolutely also needed to work on the release and heal from past traumas and set up a daily me tome self care to release also the daily traumas.
