Sf6 is my first fighter game i am taking seriously and wanting to learn. I am starting modern to make it a bit easier to learn the rest of the game but i always see people hate modern players :/ but im glad to see no matter what, you can win if you know what you are doing !
Anyone hating on the way you play the game hates their skill level. Saying modern is bad implies that having the ability to do special moves makes you good at game which is so stupid
Wow... This is incredible. I am Diamond 4 with Ryu and I can't even think how I could win just doing this lol... I need all the setups to win. I want to get to that level. My goodness, really enjoyed seeing this.
You know this is a good video, focusing on the basic because most matches are won by using your normals most of the time, and also know when to use lp,lk,mp,mk,hp,hk, also space control and reacting
Seeing you beat up these dudes with just pure fundamentals was just lovely. You love to see the right and pure way of fg’s win instead of unga bunga At least that’s how I see it
Fighting a Ken who uses no specials whatsoever is actually really scary, because you never know when its ever gonna come out xD But I agree that anyone playing right can beat anyone. More impoirtantly than the whole modern controls thing, there will be nothing more broken than a Hard Mode Bot. It can see your inputs, it knows all the best combos and can do it on demand, and it knows you. Still, people beat it.
That was an incredible gameplay with minimal tools to win, also I want to ask you. I’m completely new to street fighter or any fighting game in general. If I start playing with modern controls will it be easier to transition to classic when I have all fundamentals and footsies up ? *Or* if I’m good with modern, I don’t need to change ?
It depends on your goal; if you just wanna have fun you can stay playing modern. But modern has some limitations that get more noticeable the more you improve.
I see, other people also told me to have fun and not to care about results as a beginner. Also there’s this Japanese player called Jonathan Saitoh, the best Modern Aki, I saw that there wasn’t much difference between M and C. I’m gonna start with that. Thanks for your opinion. 🗿👍
starting with modern is a good idea. eventually people end up doing combos with manual specials and using the assist button to unlock normal moves, and suddenly classic controls arent nearly as intimidating
@@SuperShado101 Yep I’m currently mixing classic inputs with Modern auto combos, because I learned that if I do a full combo with Auto Specials/Supers move I lose a flat 20% damage, I said oh hell nah. So yea that made me practice some classic. 😂
Well it depends on your goals BUT as well as your character. Just play what you want, but if you want to play classic EVER, just start off playing classic. I cant imagine how frustrating this game would be currently going from Modern ChunLi to Classic Chun.
Bro I just watched your vid and came to the comment section, noticed something really messed up.. how is this content not getting more views :O !!! Just subbed man hope you'll reach more people🙏🏼 I know it's like second nature to you, but maybe you could also do some content on how you remember timing/inputs for combo's and mixups to make it a little easier for us noobs out here 😄
love the premise but there is an advantage at low ranks to consistently having combo dmg, antiairs, and supers. execution is a big part of the struggle as a low rank, and running into a modern is gonna be unfavorable until you get past platinum at least
Modern low ranks also dont have those. Even as far as diamond i can jump in on modern players without that much setup, as far as combos i showed how u dont need them here
Well, the problem is not being able to do specials with one button, but how they change the meta once you get to high level play. I mean, for Modern Controls to be FAIR or be perfect, you shouldn't have to adapt your gameplan depending on your opponent rocking a big M or C over his life gauge. In fact, if that was the case, for ranked, and both controls are equal to each other, then why not hide what control is using your rival? It should be IRRELEVANT to you if your opponent plays with one control scheme or the other. So if Capcom has decided to show it to you is because IT AFFECTS THE META AND THE MATCH-UP.
I'll give you two examples: 1.- Cammy can whiff punish your Hadoken from the other side of the screen with her Level 3. That means that you cannot do any kind of projectile while Cammy has Level 3. But when you play against a Classic player, to be able to do that on reaction he needs to be buffering like hell the 2 quarter circles, which would make your opponent to look like they are teabaggin. That's a visual cue that you are able to see and interpret in order to be careful. So when you see your opponent just casually walking and jumping, or even throwing buttons from the other side of the screen IF YOU ARE NOT AWARE THAT HE IS USING MODERN, you may be in for a big punish from a mere hadoken. 2.- Zangief SPD required 360 input. Now it's just Forward+Special. Which means he can walk towards you like a steamroller and just SPD you. However, on Classic you are forced to either mask it behind a normal, usually ones with big frame numbers and reach OR by jumping, which is usually the case. Zangief classic players usually need to jump to input the 360 while on the air, so they are vulnerable to anti-airs and air-to-air, and that's why Zangief has also an SPD that can be done while on the air. There are a few crazy people who can make instant 360 inputs, but even Pros don't rely on that. So this changes completely the match-up when they rock that M. You shouldn't need to learn 2 match-ups per character.
On top of that, Input error IS PART OF THE GAME, that's why we are in awe when we see Pros anti-airing with DPs instead of using the anti-air normals like the rest of us mortals do. Because it's hard. Because they put the time to be able to do it. So when A HUMAN fails in their inputs, and that makes that human lose the match, it's also part of the hype. You need to be focused not only on the whole mental stack, but also to be able to execute it. Will he drop the combo? Will he fail the DP? Those questions are notoriously reduced on Modern Controls.
As a critic to the video: your challenge FORCES YOU to not fall on certain traps, for instance, the Cammy example I've shown earlier, if you don't hadoken, you aren't vulnerable to that punish. So, in a way, your experiment or proof, also protects you from certain Modern situations. All of these problems stem from one root: Street Fighter IS DESIGNED AND BALANCED around Classic Controls, and then, ADAPT IT to Modern Controls. I accept that Modern Controls was probably in their minds from the beginning, with Ed and Falk as some sort of beta-testing, but the core gameplay is balanced around Classic. I'm not against Modern Controls per se, but against how they are implemented in SF6. I like the approach on Granblue Fantasy VS, where they introduced cooldowns and other mechanics, in order to balance certain moves, because that game embraced Modern Controls from the design phase. Unfortunately, it's too late for CAPCOM to change this withou breaking completly Modern Controls, so I think the only way is to "Git Gud" against Modern players as much as you can.
That's a crazy accomplishment! I wonder how many of your opponents figured out what you were doing; I would think it would dramatically change how they play, especially when you were in burnout.
Love this. I like to defeat players by mostly using basic or normal attacks. People have no idea how to play street fighter. Most people think it’s about using special attacks and gimmicks. When you got your basics down and use normal attacks to defeat other players, they get so upset they even rage quit on you. They simply can’t believe that a bunch of normal attacks beat them. Great video bro. Also, if you use Modern controls, then you have no business playing street fighter…ever.
It’s a character that doesn’t have anything without specials; like command normals, air grabs, or different stats like health. I was originally going to use cammy to make it easier. But wanted to see if i could do it with Ken
Honestly I gotta question if this is legit. Not because this dude isn't skilled but anyone good at fighting games knows how many times you do things without thinking. To play enough matches to get to master and ignore built in muscle memory for specials seems impossible. I used to try doing stuff like this in SF4 but could only do it for a few series here and there before an accidental special came out
I streamed it all on twitch if you wanna look lol. As for muscle memory I’ve always been good at building new muscle memory I got used to leverless in a few days when i switched It also helped that this was my first time playing ken
This doesn't prove anything. Play peoppe around your level without using any special moves. Of course, you'll struggle. It's like me beating my little cousin at sf6 using only one hand to prove that people who use 2 hands don't have a massive advantage
I have no problem with people learning with modern controls, keep it up guys, ignore the hate! It's coming from low rank players anyway. BUT modern Zangief will always feel like a robbery because you can literally do things that are impossible for classic players with no effort
Modern controls are only frustrating at entry level. It’s annoying when you have to time special inputs and learn how to cancel attacks when all modern players have to do is mash one button and hold r2. I don’t hate one button supers/specials, but assist combos are fucking stupid.
I kinda agree with the matchmaking thing. Though I personally don't mind modern controls, people should have the option to choose whether or not they face them in ranked and vice versa. I also think this video says more about Ken than anything else. xD
The point of this video is to show how fundamentals matter more than combos or specials. You can do spacing traps with any character, you can anti air with any character. I chose ken literally because he doesn’t have anything special without specials like an air grab, command normals, or more health. But I guess people see ken and only think broken without thinking why he is.
You count Ken's run as a special? Your life would have been so much easier if you could do run/stop combos, at least lol. Technically it does no damage :)
I have literally never heard anyone gripe about easy specials from modern controls its so much deeper than just "easy specials" on modern you literally have a handful of combos that lead into supers that you literally mash buttons on meaning instead of learning 100% of the game you only need to learn about 40% of the game and let the AI do the rest modern lets players do specials FASTER than anyone could do with classic controls its literally impossible in a ranked match to react within 1 frame and do an optimal combo into a super UNLESS your playing modern and you just mash your ass off personally when i lose to modern players i consider it a bot CPU and move on i dont even consider them human players because they arent doing anything
Autocombos are even less important, they do no damage and are extremely suboptimal. Plus I got to master with no combos too since i couldn’t do specials, So it just proves my point more.
This wouldve been easier with some of the worst characters; zangief, jamie, ryu. I wanted the most basic character to prove it doesn’t matter but people just think about tierlists
