Even before, you couldn't miss the understated, timeless, elegance of the original design - so missing with a great many modern designs where more is never enough. From day one it was crying out to be rescued from being run into the ground or broken up for spares. A stunning result after all your hard work, and I think you're right with aiming for the original style wheels. Loved these when they were new, love them now.
Seriously, Jack, the wheels that are on it look great! They’re sporty, without being hoonish, and suit the car really, really well. They give the car a bit of a performance look that’s totally in keeping with it being a Merc! I can’t imagine why you’d change them.
Jack, In the mobile app, go into the camera's settings by hitting the wrench (spanner) icon at the top right. Then in the first, large batch of settings under the Setup heading, scroll down to `Anti-Flicker'. You can then toggle between 60Hz (for NTSC) and 50Hz (for PAL). That should stop the flicker from LED lights
So well done - you have dragged that Mercedes back from the brink and despite all its ‘kicking and screaming’, you have proved it to be very worthwhile. Great colour too. I just wonder if the grille might benefit from being returned to its original hue. Really enjoying this project thus far. Thanks.
I'm absolutely delighted that you decided to forge ahead with the Merc, it looks fantastic!! You've probably already thought of this but, in case you haven't, clear front indicators!! Very well done!
I had a W124 that I bought new in 1990 and it had the paint color "nautikblau" or "nautical blue". A wonderfully nice color that is very reminiscent of the color Jack has chosen. My car also had orange turn signals (original in 1990) and I actually think they gave a very nice contrast. That's how it was then and that's how the car was designed. We must remember that the W124 came on the market as early as 1984 so the model is really an 80's model with roots back to the late 70's. Really amazing when you see how well the model has withstood the test of time in terms of design today.
@@Hvitserk67 I was taking a look at W124 photos, Nautical Blue is a lovely colour. I had one in Malachite Green, a 1992 so would have originally had orange lenses. They had been changed for clear ones by the time I had it, which I preferred. I think the clear lenses modernise the look, but tastes are different! Actually, comparing Jack's car with ones from the internet, I've realised the lenses on Jack's car are smoked or something, they certainly don't look original...
Congratulations! You are a brave soul for transforming the Merc. What you did saved the car. This is one of my favorites you've done! Can't wait to see what you do next with it.
Amazing to see you were able to save this old beast, it would have been only good for scrappers, now it is actually a good classic car. One thing I hope is that you put extra layer of clear, not expensive when you have car in the paint booth, but really adds value if you wan to wet-sand and polish the car to nice flat finish without orange peel. In either case, even now car is like day and night and once your fit the cream interior... it is probably going to be on of the best ones available to buy nowadays. Great job!
I’ve been waiting all week for this…what a transformation! Brilliant work. It really is heartwarming to see the old girl looking resplendent in her new shade of blue (which looks great). You’ve ensured your place in heaven Jack 🙂. She DEFINITELY needs a nice set of 8 hole alloys for the finishing touch, and I’d concur with the other comments regarding the rear lights and returning the grille to it’s original colour. I was in the ‘leave the original cloth trim’ camp, but since you’ve taken the decision to replace it with the mushroom leather, I’m looking forward to seeing that phase of the project. You seem to be really enjoying yourself having gone full-time with the vlogs…keep up the good work and the very best of luck.
Cheers Jack and Andy, blinking fantastic. I could live with those wheels refurbed a slightly darker colour, after all the paint is pretty bling now. :)
Well done Jack. Looks brilliant and loved the time lapse piece with the music for the trim fitting. Personally I think I'd just give the wheels you have a proper refurb (strip and powder coat).
Jack, totally stunning transformation, you've really done a W124 Coupe justice with this super paint job. To be honest I don't think the wheels are too bad but understand your desire to get some period correct ones. Looking forward to the interior and the other items getting installed.
Lovely to see the transformation. I was lucky enough in 2000 to buy used one from my local Mercedes dealer. It was a 1992 model and had been a 'dry days only car' for the 10 years of its life and had covered only 1000 miles a year. A one owner car it had most available options including a 90 litre long range fuel tank which the dealer had never seen before. When sold new it cost £42,000 making it a very expensive vehicle. I paid £15,000 for what was effectively a new vehicle. After 6 happy years enjoying it and attending many Owners Club events we parted company. One of the last of the 'proper Mercedes'. Love the colour
Superb Job and a credit to you both for rescuing the Bismerc. Certainly now saved from being scrapped. Now transformed into a desirable classy car. Well Done 👏 ✔️ ✔️
Great work Jack, transformed! Painting is one of those jobs where you can actually see where your hard work goes, unlike somewhere hidden within the car. Enjoy it!
I think the grey interior really suits it. I'd be tempted to dye the leather seats you've have the same grey and fit them. It would save having to find the rest of the interior in the same colour and a lot of work.
So glad you decided to proceed with the car considering how bad it was and now seeing the results of your effort :D Very joyful to follow your progress on this car :)
The 16" wheels off of an R129 is a great option! I believe that's the best wheel upgrade, because it keeps the original design, but goes up an inch and makes the car look a bit sportier. Either the 8-hole or the 15-hole wheels from an R129 will look great.
Fabulous job, looks like a great car deserves to. I’m so glad you didn’t opt for the rattle can job! You are effectively now restoring a classic Mercedes!
Giacomo - once again - this blue was the best choice, I'm even more jealous now than when you got the car in first place. And my countrymen can only be more jealous😅 Although I had get rid of my youngtimer daily project for various reasons... but thanks to guys like you - fully committed and ready to battle through all those surprises, we have a great fun watching and learning.
Absolutely stunning. Amazing transformation. Now you have the horribly “first stone chip” moment to look forward to. Can’t wait to see if fully trimmed and with its leather added. It’s wonderful!
What an amazing chap Andy is!! How proud did you feel driving it out of the workshop, the rear lights will make a huge difference too when returned to OEM, car looks on point Jack.
Wow, that's fantastic Jack. I agree it needs classier alloys now, and possibly swapping the blacked-out taillights with original ones. Once it'll have the beige interior in it, it'll look a million pounds. Great job, congratulations!
I lost interest in cars when I had to get a 7 seater to fit the family in. This project stirred something - what a fantastic project and a lovely thing to own.
I am so please you kept the car it looks utterly amazing, dare i say inspirational ? perhaps now i will crack on with my 1989 R129 SL that's been stood doing nothing for the last few years ! I have however been collecting parts .A big thank you for the video, Cheshire UK
Oooooh! I was soo excited to sit down and watch this episode. I watched it on my big tv to get the full effect. I can’t believe the transformation. You’re going to make a Prince out of a frog! Changing the wheels and darkened rear lights will make it more original. Hats off to you Jack. Your paint booth mate is a diamond too. 💎
Nice work, I’ve just done the same thing with a W123 I’ve used as a charity/bash car to drive around Australia in, it had three different paint jobs in 3 years, now it looks factory fresh, I did all the body work but not brave enough to paint , very rewarding.
What a transformation. Grand job. Fully agree with the wheel choice. Colour reminds me of my XKR. Can’t wait to get it out of storage when the sun comes out
One of my favorite channels on RUclips! I love your content but most all love your joy of cars and overall energy! I hope your channel explodes! Much success!!
Yay! You did it! Well worth all the time and effort, must be a big morale boost. Couldn't help noticing that the passenger door needs re-hanging - that slight mis-aligment would drive me (and I daresay most OCD sufferers) nuts.
I wish all (any?) of my mission creeps would turn out this rewarding! Stunning work my friend. Really quite exceptional. Love the color choice as well.
Thank you Andy, man cosmetically this W124 is better shape than mine now I'm jealous. Love the color, don't mind the rims they aren't that bad. Thanks for saving this car!
Wow! The Bismerc looks amazing. The colour choice is excellent and it has restored the classy look to a fine old German cruiser. Weirdly though I secretly liked the RAF look before. Please don't h8 me 😁. I can't wait to see it when it's completed 👍.
well jack, i think that kick in the knackers we all gave you when you mentioned those rattle-cans has been well worth it . nowt the matter with those wheels, just need a re-furb in a darker shade. order a set of plates from a merc dealership [so you get all the details on the bottom] to finish off the transformation. hope you bought your mate a beer for his painting weekend
Looks excellent ! And shout out to ANDY for helping out ! Yes, lots to do ( original orange lights would be on the top of my list ) but it will look so good when it's done.
Great color change, it's looks is stunning ! A few days ago, Harry showed us his beautifuly repaired and resprayed Jaguar manual V12 XJS, now you with the BisMerc. Awesome cars ! 👍🤩
Looks magnificent, perfect for a daily driver in that no rust, smart and tidy looking but not too precious if it gets dirty or dinked. The year correct flat face alloys would look great also.
Love the colour Jack, the finish is really really good. Jury still out on the beige leather, although blue and beige do work well. Let’s see when it’s installed 👍🏻. You did the right thing in a colour change, adding value to the eventual sale. Well done you!
From scrap to executive what a fanbloodytastic transformation well done Jack 👍👨🏻🏭

I agree, wheels suit the car.
I like the wheels too. The remind me of the five spoke wheels on Jag XJRs
Agree. They look better than the ones Jack showed. Would be nice to see both on the car to compare.

You're correct about the grill.

MUCH better, and with nice wheels plus you have a leather interior? So much BETTER than before!!!!!!!
Wow, that paintwork looks fantastic! Well done Jack!
Unbelievable transformation and the colour is spot on Jack!!!
I would be tempted to leave the grey cloth interior it goes so well with the colour!
Agreed.
Congratulations Jack. What a transformation after all your hard work!!
Love that colour. I had a 300 CE 24 in Australia. Very fine motor car.
It turned out great! It's priceless when you have a friend like Andy on hand. I don't mind the wheels, the 8 will look better through.

It needs original rear lights, wheels, chrome grill and adjust the passenger side door gap! I love the colour !
I agree those wheels aren't ideal, but I do love that interior as-is! Hopefully you can get some OEM tail lights that aren't smoked out so dark.

Great work Jack , what a transformation..love the colour 👏 🚗🔧👍
How classy does the Bismerc look Jack! Well done buddy, what a transformation!!😀
Not quite there, but worth every hour! Loved the apprentice music - these touches are appreciated, and part of the entertainment. Onwards, Jack!
What a transformation! It looks fantastic. And huge kudos to Andy for providing so much help, guidance and knowledge to you and the project.

Jack! You are the HAPPIEST first time DIY car painter I have ever witnessed 😃 thank you for a great video, nice one👍
Well done Jack, it's a credit to you. I have an E220 myself for the last 8 years and should for many more. Enjoy your hard work
That was a transformation that deserves the name. What a change!

Luverley! Pleeease go with original style wheels not AMG's and keep the original seats
What a fantastic colour.
The Bismarch is so beautiful now.
You and Andy have done a perfect job Jack. I'm very jealous. So beautiful, well done 👍
Glad to see you stick with this one, as mentioned previously the niggles looked remarkably small for a 30 year old barge. Looking lovely now!

Brilliant job, looks like it would sit on anyone's drive and fit the part and not something that's about to take of from Biggin Hill
Hi Jack hadnt seen it painted before Great colour choice, just one word "Fantastic" 👍
What an amazing transformation, love the new colour.
Will look brilliant when that new interior goes in.
Fabulous transformation, a miraculous sight to behold Jack, bravissimo!
well jack, i think that kick in the knackers we all gave you when you mentioned those rattle-cans has been well worth it . nowt the matter with those wheels, just need a re-furb in a darker shade. order a set of plates from a merc dealership [so you get all the details on the bottom] to finish off the transformation. hope you bought your mate a beer for his painting weekend
Oh my...now it's a beautiful car. I think repainting was the best decision to do with it.

Great color change, it's looks is stunning !
A few days ago, Harry showed us his beautifuly repaired and resprayed Jaguar manual V12 XJS,
now you with the BisMerc. Awesome cars ! 👍🤩
Keep the cloth. Merc cloth from those days is indestructible. Looks brilliant, good save.
See now I think the wheels look more appropriate with the refresh!
Jack that looks amazing, what a stunner now. Well worth the effort.
Looks magnificent, perfect for a daily driver in that no rust, smart and tidy looking but not too precious if it gets dirty or dinked. The year correct flat face alloys would look great also.
Jack this is freakin' AWESOME! LOVE LOVE LOVE it! and love the music too. So happy for you!
Love the colour Jack, the finish is really really good. Jury still out on the beige leather, although blue and beige do work well. Let’s see when it’s installed 👍🏻. You did the right thing in a colour change, adding value to the eventual sale. Well done you!
car looks great, so glad you invested in being this back to a very nice standard. Been great to watch.
