Just got back from Riga. What a beautiful city! It's compact and easy to see so much without killing yourself walking or having to worry about public transport. I'd definitely go again.
Great review! Please come to Riga more often from Vilnius, there even is a flight daily from Vilnius to Riga and it takes about 40 minutes. Actually, lots of people from Vilnius prefer Jūrmala - Riga seaside at the summer, because it is roughly the same distance from Lithuanian seaside and Jūrmala is much bigger than Palanga - 50km of white sandy beaches just in Jūrmala, and also in Jūrmala you can find a lot of wooden Jugendstil architecture which is quite cool :)
This seems to be a very interesting place, I hope I can visit sometime in the future. Seeing and sharing places like this is why I love traveling and make videos so much! And please keep up the great job! Subscribed!!
Is this a safe country? I'll be visiting Copenhagen in November and the flight to Latvia is fairly reasonable, I thought to have short trip there however, I have no idea what Latvia is or anything. Someone help me please 😢😢
I’ll be there from September 20 - December 15 & it’s my first time. I’m going to a total immersion Russian school & living with a Russian family for 1/2 the time & doing AirBNB for the other part. Just before the war I was in Russia for 2 months & absolutely loved every bit of it, hence why I am learning Russian! Everyone thought I was crazy to go to Russia but it was the best place I have been & I’ve been to a LOT of countries. I am not the least bit concerned or worried about anything as I’ve done reasonable research but, at the end of the day, I just optimistically go for it & it will be great! PS - everyone scratches their heads & wonders about my sanity going to Latvia alone for that long - впрочем, мне все равно. 😂😂😂
It is my 3rd day in Riga, I have to say I am pretty disappointed ... it's having a huge construction work incl. Baltic rails in the city centre, air quality is pretty bad and is dusty so I didn't find it enjoyable walking on the street ... and I also not prefer walking via the pedestrian subway, especially I go with my suitcase... also, homeless people seems more than Vilnius. I just finished my 1 week Vilnius trip and I have to say I like Vilnius much more than Riga... maybe too many construction work currently make the city vibe pretty messy right now. Vilnius is cleaner and more laidback (which I like).
Hello! I understand what you mean as we did not like Riga as much as Tallinn. We tried, our best to show the best side of Riga in our video that we just released on our channel. Sorry you did not enjoy Riga. Happy traveling.

Do not go to Latvia for seaside tourism!!!. Latvian police set traps for unsuspecting tourists and issue fines from 100 to 1000 euros for violations of the "protected zone", although there are no boundaries from where to it, no signs and information boards that it is a protected zone.
I would not suggest living in Latvia. The country is not safe and you are treated better if you are wealthy. For foreigners it is a cheap country, for Latvians is really expensive. Minimal wage is 500 euros per month, minimal pension 150/160 euros per month.
I am from Latvia the capital Riga. I've experienced domestic violence and police and the goverment didn't helped me, my mother and my brother at all. If you have money people will be nicer to you and treat you like vip. If you are average or below average people will treat you mostly like shit. I live in the netherlands and my life is so much better.@@ok-vk9fv
How can you even come here and say shit like this? I have been living in Latvia (Riga) for the past 4 years and I’ve never feel like I was in an unsafe country.

The cafes and the food and drink on offer seem to have improved since I last visited in 2008.
I wonder if there was anything going on in the world in 2008 that might have affected small businesses such as cafes? 🤔
@@ihavegreeneyes14 I was there in September of that year when the crisis was unfolding, so no, I don’t think it was a factor

What would you recommend then? I will fly to Riga in 4 days :)
