Hello Thesmokinape, I have mine HD2 with the firmware just like yours. I'm using computer with windows 7 os and I already installed the HD2 CPS on it. The Program cable was already working with my Retevis NR630 and RT29D but when it comes to my .HD2 every time I connect and trying to read my HD2 with his CPS on the radio the reading screen will appear then will not going to continue and will restart the HD2. After that on my computer screen it tells me doesn't connect or fail to connect to the radio. What shall I do? Do I need to update my HD2 firmware first or the issues comes from HD2 itself? Thank 😊😊😊
hi! could you confirm if central knob in HD2 works well for changing channels?... in my HD1 central knob is useless due to erratic behavior o lagging speed and I have to use the arrows on the keyboard to change channels... XE2SL tks
Hi! I am a firefighter in Chile and our working frequency is 155,000 and 162,200. I would like to know if there is any way to release this frequency in the radio equipment, since none of the regions that appear in the video are compatible.
TY SA Is there a longer in depth video coming for the HD2? No reason other than inquiring minds want to know...if they should spend the $200 or not! Cheers
@@TheSmokinApe Excellent, looking forward to it. Given the pace of firmware updates, it seems like people are giving the radio a healthy beating(assessment), for bugs and enhancements.
@@TheSmokinApe where are you finding the updated firmware? Looking on Ailunce and Retevis I only see the original CPS and no firmware. Thanks, they won’t reply to my emails.
Hopefully the ones Retevis is selling in the US on Amazon and elsewhere are set for the correct ITU region. That'd be a pretty silly mistake but at least we have some instructions on how to fix it now. Thank you for continuing to release videos on this HT. I think it's potentially in a sweet spot of feature set, performance, price, and durability and if that holds true it could be a popular radio. I'd certainly be interesting in seeing a comparison between the HD2 and the HD1 in terms of reciever sensitivity & selectivity.
Hey CH, I tend to agree that you would configure them for each region. I did ask and was told that the expectation is that DMR users would know how to adjust this in the CPS.
@@TheSmokinApe Oof, my HD2 just came in from Amazon and it's default set on ITU region 1 so anything above 146 MHz isn't going to work until I get it reprogrammed. That's a big screw up IMO, it shouldn't be on the end user to configure the radio for their region's bands.
@@CaptainHat12 Hi dear, glad to know your feedback. We have indeed received feedback similar to yours. In order to optimize the user experience, we will enable users to switch frequency range directly on the device in future firmware updates without having to use a computer for programming.
To open up the radio to all bands (2m, 70cm, and GMRS) do the following. (you lose the 220 band with this) For current firmware 2.0.7 w/GPS With the radio off 1) Press & Hold "Menu"+"8" then turn the radio on 2) Enter the password "777888" 3) "Menu" to step through all the setting fields and until it saves RX/TX - 136Mhz - 174Mhz RX/TX - 400Mhz - 480Mhz
@plutonium76 2.0.7 GPS. Just got the radio yesterday. I had to do it via their program on a laptop and enter a different password and manually adjust the parameters
Anyone have an opinion on the HD2 vs. the AnyTone 878UV+ I wish the Ham Geek “APX8000” did DMR. Of course it’s not gonna be anything close to the “real” APX8000. (I’d buy a Motorola APX80l0 if only it did DMR in addition to analog and P25 Phase 1+2) I have a Hytera PD982 portable and a /\/\otorola XPR7550e which are fairly decent and rugged ( fire department use). The only dilemma? I need ONE VHF channel for an adjoining town. Great channel .. Thanks!
Yes, you can do, the new beta firmware is allowing this operation. And it will update on RETEVIS and Ailunce website in the near future. Now our testers are testing it, we want to make sure everything is ok.

Wondering the same thing myself. I'm hoping they improved the promiscuous mode from rhe HD1. I'm really hoping the HD2 will monitor everything on any DMR frequency regardless of color code and time slot. Just like the Anytones do.

Is it possible to have the DH-2 on APRS? This would be my replacement for the TM-D75A.
It’s my understanding that it has APRS over DMR but I have not tested it

Hey PM, IMO the Anytones are much better radios 👍
Is it possible to disable or reassign the alarm button?

Any firmware update to add GMRS TX in case of emergencies....
I am not aware of any GRMS expansion.

Maybe they restricted access, the link was from Retevis
Do you have a real promiscous? Can all calls be heard?
