Yep and lots of people have gained weight from the lack of exercise when you work from home. I am actually excited to walk at least 1 hour a day. That's really good for cardiovascular health.
In all fairness, America is far from alone where an obesity problem is concerned. The UK is particularly horrific, and Australia actually now has the highest weight gains on the planet. But no doubt, the USA is way too fat. There are actually more people in the "obese" category now, than in the basic "overweight" category.
Yeah because now obesity is really an epidemic compared when this Simpsons episode was made. There are many reasons 1 could be the dire straits schools are in and cost cutting budgets. There are others who knows?

If I recall correctly, Homer only went up to 300 pounds. Now 300 pounds is pretty damn heavy, especially for a person of average height, but it's not quite mumu-wearing, qualifies-for-disability heavy.
Well, i find him very obese for 315 lbs, Look at Bubba Ray Dudley, he weights 325lbs, but is definitely not that obese. Homer looks more like exceeding 330lbs.

I felt betrayed when I grew up and realized that these "drinking birds" actually do have to drink something to function, they are powered by evaporative cooling. As such they cannot operate a keyboard, even a keyboard on a hair trigger
If homer never did anything at work then who the hell was venting the gas for 10 damn years when it would cause an explosion in one day, and why the hell would they give that job to homer after he get's sent on disability? They could have easily explained that away with a typical "You're fired" from Mr. Burns joke but they never do.

Homer's job since season 1 was a nuclear safety technician. A job which he is late to and sleeps through constantly. Mr Burns employs an idiot to do that job so he can get away with a bunch of penny pinching unsafe stuff. Pretty much a dark yet hilarious take on corporate America
2:06 is such an accurate depiction of us work -from-homers. Being at home causes you to become way too easily distracted by random, little things going on when you should be working
