Other is morde pointing of the mace & yeah sound can be another one depending how "obvious" the skin makes it.
illaoi is one of the most underrated toplaners ever, as a toplane main i hate playing against her, she has kill pressure even if she is 0 10 with 2 levels behind. the only reason people dont permaban her is because nobody plays her, but i promise you she is such a pain, the only way to beat her post level 6 is to go 2v1 and one of the two being a ranged champ.
Illaoi is not a champ before 6, and level 1 you can zone her off of exp. There's a reason nobody plays her in high rank and pro play, and that she is called low elo stomper. As Illaoi main I can tell you she is a troll champ that should not exist, she's that bad. ;)
As Illaoi player myself, gotta add some tips: You're not weak till lvl 6, lvl 3 is huge powerspike and perfect time for heavy trades. But you need to remember that without ult your kill pressure will be significantly lower, and 1 vs 2 potential will fully rely on tentacle placement. It's still possible to swing lvl 3 gank, but it will require presize positioning around tentacle and well-timed W. The biggest secret of Illaoi burst is in hitting both spirit and champion with 1 tentacle hit. If you manage to land your Q or cause hit of tentacle by W on both targets, enemy will take both damage for hit itself and spirit injuries. It results in enemy champion dying literally faster than summoned spirit. Conq is cool rune for all-in and long trades, but grasp, atleast in my expirience, proved to be stabile tool for short trades on all stages of laning phase, giving you a little of sustain as well. With grasp and auto-W(animation cancel) you can make very good trades early on. Remember to take advantage of your waveclear - it's nearly the best among melee toplaners, and with E pressure under turret you can make your enemy miss a lot of cs continiously. Sometimes by not casting it you will ensure good enough lead on your opponent. In teamfights always look for E angle, but if it doesn't quite work just protect the strongest carry in your team. Sit on them, making engage into them a way of giving you free kills with ult. Desperatly looking into 5 man ult is idea that will likely cause you to do nothing at all. Don't group and never force 5 vs 5 fight if it isn't about objective. Take advantage of the fact that stopping you will always drag 2-3 People. Inform your team about that. If they don't understand your impact from macro point - its their problem
@@christopher95355 active component of stridebreaker helps fast-clearing waves and is better tool to inflict burst damage upon vessel, remember that. Outside of early game - stats of gauntlet and mythic passive work effectively towards making you tanky, while stridebreaker will give you more agency in your damage and duels against squishes. Analyze the situation, and make suitable choice. If you aren't sure, i highly reccomend to watch dirtymobs. He is Illaoi main that makes videos where he explains his desicionmaking and results of it.

Hello Dobby, awesome video as always. I am happy that ILLAOI is getting more attention, but to me and many other mains, the best illaoi to learn from is Dirtymobs. He is a NA challenger player that usually climbs with 70% to challenger with her and has very creative yet clear implemented tricks, such as E-ing right after the enemy minions die to catch the enemy off guard, or "Dirty¡-diving". He is definately worth to look at, maybe for a future video.

he probably tought that her ult is on cd since mordes ult has a lower cd than illaois ulting before illaois ult or after doesnt matter, the only important thing is that you ult after her e since it will instantly despawn her spirit And her tentacles can slam into mordes ult from outside If Illaoi plays it right Morde will lose 7/10 fights because he ults after her ult
That is not how it works morde counter illaoi because in the death realm all you tentacles placed Jaír disappear and stay away. So you lost your últ and your passive timer by morde r but since illaoi is unstoppable during the fast of her is not that morde últ before illaoi. Illaoi últ during the cast of more ult ( you could say at the same time) and like dodge it for example . But you need practice to do that
Live and die by 1 skill shot. This, and team comp, is why Illaoi is often unplayable in Challenger. If Illaking had another champ that he was just as good at as he is with Illaoi, if he were a 2 trick in other words, he could pick that champ into bad enemy team comps and stay in Challengery for sure
Hello, I'm a solid Illaoi main here for 5yrs. I observed that our Illaoi has a lower damage compare the average. And his playstyle is quite risky because she became more dependent on her tentacle. He goes full that but I can't sure if she can secure a kill. Due to series of updates is seems that Illaoi playstyle must be change. I recommend to rush sheen if you get your first 700golds. It is very effective if you use it in squishy top laners. Spam W, start the showdown and secure the kill "EVEN YOU ARE STILL BELOW LEVEL 6". Sheen can make you a deadly beast early game. You don't need to hug a tentacle because you can stand up in a fight with this burst like damage making you tentacle damage as an auxilliary damage Idk how corruption potion be a benefit to illaoi but I need Tear of Goddess. Why? it increases the maximum mana, allowing you to rampage for a longer period of time. It is an advantage because it can help you to secure cs and make your enemy have fear into you by mana diff. Especially you deal with manaless champions like Garen, Sett, Darius, Kled and Riven. Their manaless abilities can't stop your rampage. If you have a decent amount of gold, switch your tear of goddess into Frozen Heart. It makes you a walking fortress, full of mana and armor. Hullbreaker is very beneficial to illaoi since she can handle multiple number of ganks. It gives here decent amount of protection so it could save a bunch of armor if you purchase this stuff. And the other is tower pushing. Very effective if tandem this item to a Demolish rune and Sheen. There is a possibility that you can one shot a tower using this. I proved it cause I do that always. If you want a longer fight, don't use goredrinker. Use ravenous, more AD, more sustain. Suitable for illaoi since she is the queen is AoE. Golden Rule: Don't give her a boots. She is a walking beast. @@victory9262 well triumph is always the best rune ever especially in outplaying your opponents. If your are ganked and your survived it, usually you only have a few amount of life left. What you were ganked AGAIN? How will you fight it? This is where triumph will take into action. After defeating an enemy, a decent amount of life will be returned to you. It's enough to reposition your champion, ready for another engagement. Speaking of Presence of MInd, it's only useful for mana hungry champions. You can use it to illaoi as well because she is a monster always rampaging her skills in top lane.

just wanted to say how much i love this channel. I don't play league as much i used too but every dobby video is always worth watching. I wished we had more lol content creators like this instead of shitty compilation or fast trend videos we've had for the last several years
Try out XX BB's daily chinese challenger montage videos, they are not shitty compilations. The featured players are chinese streamers who have a rank on the chinese superserver (must reach D2+ on a different server, China has 30-40+ servers and superserver to basically allow ppl to compare servers). Sometimes the plays actually happen in plat / dia / master / different server, but that is because chinese streaming is different. The plays and the players themselves are still fucking nuts.
How they pull it off? usually because people regardless of elo and region are bad and either because the champ is so niche at high elo that most of these players never really faced a main and have no idea on the damage the champ can take and deal and thus over or underestimate numbers.
I'm not high elo but when she r I just walk away, if she hit me with e I just walk away and wait for the tentacles to spawn in one spot so are easier to dodge, if I have all in potential I bring ignite so she doesn't heal from her E, once she waist her E I go kill his tentacles I mean it's not that difficult laning vs illaoi even tho she's designed to stomp laning phase
Ya you can walk away but a skilled one manages the lane to make you lose cs / lane pressure if you do. Then you get starved for resources and it makes the lane harder
She is absurdly overpowered thats how. Not gankable and spams spells with no mana problems plus harasses with 2 sec cooldown on first level w with grasp on it without hitting anything else
It almost about split push, if enemy team come for illaoi, kill one of them or all of them, and ur team will get advantage on the other side of the map.
Tentacles will auto hit the spirit once and illaoi used her w, causing the tentacles to hit a second time, the attacks get buffered due to tentacle attack speed
when u e, nearby tentacles will hit the spirit and when you w nearby tentacles will hit the target. at 1:42 he e'd and w'd quickly which made the tentacles hit twice.
No cap that second fight happened to me the other day but it was her at her tower low health and me pressuring with full 😂 I didn’t think she could burst like that but nah I got dog walked that fight
Huh this explains what happened to me the other day. Got E’d by an illaoi at low hp but got away, and I used to play her a lot so I knew how to avoid the tentacles, but they came out and attacked almost instantly and killed me. Never knew that having ult active makes them attack faster
points i want to highlight as well: 1. if enemy have 3 or even 4 melee, there's a high chance you can carry even you are brain dead on this champ. 2. tentacle have 0.4 ap ratio, so yes you can build hourglass for some sick play or even ap item like riftmaker to taunt your enemy.
im stuck in silver, and this is often how i win my lane. though ive never gotten past goldIV due to the champ being countered by walking away from her ult or from her e.
No, tell you its garbage primarily because my plat friend plays it and only cares about farming all for him to not to be able to carry because illaoi sucks in certain team matchups.
@@cracksnorter69 yeah but you kind of forget you will kinda get punished extremely hard pre 6 because you are playing it mid lane, unlike in this scenario where you can just push up to tower, you are more prone to jungle gank and bot lane roam, you can potentially get a kill but with ignite and exhaust being staple summoners now, you wont deal or heal as much you expect here.
im a plat main morde and the way he played was horrendous, it's like he was betting on illaoi being dumb enough to not press R. His lvl on Morde clearly isnt chall
Common mistake ive made, and see illaoi players make is fighting in center of lane. 1v1, you geting into a situation where 3+ tentacles can slam on W is slim. Hugging inside wall between 2 tentacles is way safer for you, and guarantees their involvement. You farm with q, enemy has to risk getting E'd if they walk up to clear tentacle. Even if they do, your passive is off cd by then. This gets even more obnoxious as you land more E's and the whole lane becomes a kill zone from spawning tentacles. Remember your ult can be used to dodge a lot of cc, even mord ult.
Also ult increases slam speed. So if youre in a situation where enemy disengaged, but you still have their soul, ult and kill it. They wont expect the increased slam speed + slow is enough secure a kill. Bonus points if they run into the rest of their low health team. It's almost like a mini karthus ult.
If the spirit dies or you run out of the area of the spirit you get slowed, new tentacles will begins spawning, and tentacles will attack you. Sometimes there is enough around you can not dodge them all. During Illaoi's ult the tentacles have no wind up time and no area of effect indicator. They strike fast and you don't know exactly where they are striking either.

Idk how corruption potion be a benefit to illaoi but I need Tear of Goddess. Why? it increases the maximum mana, allowing you to rampage for a longer period of time. It is an advantage because it can help you to secure cs and make your enemy have fear into you by mana diff. Especially you deal with manaless champions like Garen, Sett, Darius, Kled and Riven. Their manaless abilities can't stop your rampage. If you have a decent amount of gold, switch your tear of goddess into Frozen Heart. It makes you a walking fortress, full of mana and armor.
Hullbreaker is very beneficial to illaoi since she can handle multiple number of ganks. It gives here decent amount of protection so it could save a bunch of armor if you purchase this stuff. And the other is tower pushing. Very effective if tandem this item to a Demolish rune and Sheen. There is a possibility that you can one shot a tower using this. I proved it cause I do that always.
If you want a longer fight, don't use goredrinker. Use ravenous, more AD, more sustain. Suitable for illaoi since she is the queen is AoE.
Golden Rule: Don't give her a boots. She is a walking beast.

@@victory9262 well triumph is always the best rune ever especially in outplaying your opponents. If your are ganked and your survived it, usually you only have a few amount of life left. What you were ganked AGAIN? How will you fight it? This is where triumph will take into action. After defeating an enemy, a decent amount of life will be returned to you. It's enough to reposition your champion, ready for another engagement.
Speaking of Presence of MInd, it's only useful for mana hungry champions. You can use it to illaoi as well because she is a monster always rampaging her skills in top lane.
as a illaoi main, i want show to you guys to build Winter’s Approach and serylda as second and third slot, try it, it's give u much of mana, shield, dmg and still tanky to starting combat. make sure to get serylda before winter's approach, and get tear of goddess after the second B

Try out XX BB's daily chinese challenger montage videos, they are not shitty compilations. The featured players are chinese streamers who have a rank on the chinese superserver (must reach D2+ on a different server, China has 30-40+ servers and superserver to basically allow ppl to compare servers). Sometimes the plays actually happen in plat / dia / master / different server, but that is because chinese streaming is different. The plays and the players themselves are still fucking nuts.

usually because people regardless of elo and region are bad and either because the champ is so niche at high elo that most of these players never really faced a main and have no idea on the damage the champ can take and deal and thus over or underestimate numbers.
I'm not high elo but when she r I just walk away, if she hit me with e I just walk away and wait for the tentacles to spawn in one spot so are easier to dodge, if I have all in potential I bring ignite so she doesn't heal from her E, once she waist her E I go kill his tentacles I mean it's not that difficult laning vs illaoi even tho she's designed to stomp laning phase
Ya you can walk away but a skilled one manages the lane to make you lose cs / lane pressure if you do. Then you get starved for resources and it makes the lane harder
If you walk away from e and come back, she will already have e ready again lol
When u use the spirit should u focus the spirit or the real one ?
it just depends, sometime it's best to get your Q or passive tentacle to hit both the spirit and the enemy to utilize damage lol
why do you show frostfire in the thumbnail? they're not building frostfire in more than half the games shown here.

It almost about split push, if enemy team come for illaoi, kill one of them or all of them, and ur team will get advantage on the other side of the map.
illaoi is mostly lane phase and splitpush,you force them to send at least 2 ppl to stop your split
we can see the tentacle hit twice in a row without them being in ult mode, how come ? like at 1:42 and 9:52
Tentacles will auto hit the spirit once and illaoi used her w, causing the tentacles to hit a second time, the attacks get buffered due to tentacle attack speed
when u e, nearby tentacles will hit the spirit and when you w nearby tentacles will hit the target. at 1:42 he e'd and w'd quickly which made the tentacles hit twice.

No cap that second fight happened to me the other day but it was her at her tower low health and me pressuring with full 😂 I didn’t think she could burst like that but nah I got dog walked that fight

Huh this explains what happened to me the other day. Got E’d by an illaoi at low hp but got away, and I used to play her a lot so I knew how to avoid the tentacles, but they came out and attacked almost instantly and killed me. Never knew that having ult active makes them attack faster
They make them attack faster AND make their hitbox invisible. They also reduce the cooldown of Illaoi's W significantly.

points i want to highlight as well:
1. if enemy have 3 or even 4 melee, there's a high chance you can carry even you are brain dead on this champ.
2. tentacle have 0.4 ap ratio, so yes you can build hourglass for some sick play or even ap item like riftmaker to taunt your enemy.
im stuck in silver, and this is often how i win my lane. though ive never gotten past goldIV due to the champ being countered by walking away from her ult or from her e.

its not bad,you can bully pretty hard, and if you get ganked you know what happens
@@cracksnorter69 yeah but you kind of forget you will kinda get punished extremely hard pre 6 because you are playing it mid lane, unlike in this scenario where you can just push up to tower, you are more prone to jungle gank and bot lane roam, you can potentially get a kill but with ignite and exhaust being staple summoners now, you wont deal or heal as much you expect here.
im a plat main morde and the way he played was horrendous, it's like he was betting on illaoi being dumb enough to not press R. His lvl on Morde clearly isnt chall
Common mistake ive made, and see illaoi players make is fighting in center of lane. 1v1, you geting into a situation where 3+ tentacles can slam on W is slim.
Hugging inside wall between 2 tentacles is way safer for you, and guarantees their involvement. You farm with q, enemy has to risk getting E'd if they walk up to clear tentacle. Even if they do, your passive is off cd by then. This gets even more obnoxious as you land more E's and the whole lane becomes a kill zone from spawning tentacles.
Remember your ult can be used to dodge a lot of cc, even mord ult.
Also ult increases slam speed. So if youre in a situation where enemy disengaged, but you still have their soul, ult and kill it. They wont expect the increased slam speed + slow is enough secure a kill.
Bonus points if they run into the rest of their low health team. It's almost like a mini karthus ult.

Why everyone of them can't dodge tentacles after running from E
If the spirit dies or you run out of the area of the spirit you get slowed, new tentacles will begins spawning, and tentacles will attack you. Sometimes there is enough around you can not dodge them all. During Illaoi's ult the tentacles have no wind up time and no area of effect indicator. They strike fast and you don't know exactly where they are striking either.
