    Been waiting for a while. You're the only one who does worthwhile Filson reviews. Everyone else is a new york hipster. No hate, it's a great coat, but their reviews are less than worthless.

    Had to send my Filson Cruiser coat back for a snap repair I just noticed was missing. I've had it about 40 years. I can tell you from experience that wool shrinks with age. I put on my wool work pants over my wool long underwear and the damned top button on the waist wouldn't reach anymore. Damnedable wool!!

    I got this too after I saw the color and it's absolutely fantastic. I have 3 Canada Goose, 1 Moose Knuckle, a Khul parka etc... And this gets compliments the most. A waitress even tried it on the other day. Lol

    Wow, that's a hell of a coat. I got the plain double mac - just couldn't see myself rocking the shearling collar. It's as warm as I'll probably ever need.

    Hello from France, great great review, Really complete, looks very good on you, I prefer the previous version plaid that you had, for me it represents more the spirit "wild American"... 😉This one is more versatile by its color, can be worn in the countryside and in the city. Kind regards

    Can I make a suggestion? In photography, it's best to use a neutral colored background such as Grey, tan etc. Also, the camera's sensor is trying to compensate for the bright white background. So whatever is in the foreground will be darkened. It's similar to the human eye. Our irises close when it's bright out. So it's best to film without the bright snow. If you want to, then you need a stronger light in front of you. But sunlight will create shadows. An overcast day is best.
    I recommend a background like a cabin wall. Take care.

    Are you wearing the Johnson wool pants? Are you wearing a baselayer under them? I’m curious how warm wool pants alone are. I just bought a few items of Johnson woolen mills because of your channel. Thanks!

    Great review. I wonder about the practical effectiveness of the cotton lining. If you're doing strenuous ranch work outdoors in bitter cold, sweating is inevitable. I've heard the benefit of the unlined mackinaws is the pure wool is better at regulating body temp, whereas the cotton lining in the packer can still hold moisture and chill you down. What are your thoughts? Im on the fence with this coat.

      Hey, I have a cotton lined mackinaw jac-shirt and even when snow shoveling and hiking, I don't get cold.. maybe after a full day it might but after 2 canadian winters it has not been an issue

    How come it's not listed in the Filson website. They only have a checkered loden that is a louder pattern than the one you're wearing.

    Hey Eric, thanks for the vid. I'm 5'10" and about 175 of lean muscle. I felt the same way about the medium fit. I think deciding on the fit depends on which you'd be using it for. I'm in Fargo, ND for a few months and it has come in handy when our temps dip into -10 F or even 0F. For me the large would be just too big....since I don't live this far north permanently. For the cuff buttons.....do you just get random buttons, or does Filson offer them to you?

  • @wadsworth2351
    @wadsworth2351 Год назад

    Man, i would have really wanted that Packer from last year [the plaid] - if only i knew you were selling it...Such a pity, that one's nigh-on impossible to find in size L.

  • @tomkeller6982
    @tomkeller6982 Год назад

    Not sure if you're aware that many other cultures intentionally make their winter coats long in the sleeves so it covers almost their entire hand because of the way it retains warmth . For those who stay outside for longer periods of time, they would greatly benefit from that Xtra length.
    I have a size lg double mack charcoal jacket and would like to exchange it for a SIZE LARGE LONG in the charcoal or green colors. Please advise me if you know of anyone who might like to assist me with that exchange.

  • @samadams9557

    You can just return the medium unless you prefer to sell it. My dad and I often buy two of the same thing from Filson but in different sizes. Then pick the one you want and return the other.

    • @wildforwool3821
      @wildforwool3821  Год назад +5

      Unfortunately I’m passed the return limit, also I have to pay the shipping to send it back to the states, Filson doesn’t offer free returns from Canada. I’d love to buy 2 different sizes when I make an order but because of the customs charges, shipping cost to Canada which is about 50$ and than having to pay the return shipping, I would be wasting a lot on money. With the prices of their products they should at least offer free shipping and returns in my opinion.

      @@wildforwool3821 Even though I"m in the States, I totally agree with you. ESPECIALLY since they've increased their prices across the brand (duffle bags in M are now $525?! Considering they used one of your videos for one of their reviews/descriptions on their own website, you're practically a brand ambassador. They should certainly accommodate you.

    I think the Medium looks better on. The wool, eventhough it is thick should conform to your body and loose up over time. But either way congrats

      Video made me curious so I went in to try one on. Loved this color and added to my closet 👍. The shearling is the darkest I have seen in a packer coat. The charcoal is almost black with chalk pin stripes. It is a must buy

    It's a lifetime coat. People don't shrink as they age (except Brandon). It's not a fashion item. Good call going for the large.
