I married artist Frank Vickers and he took me to galleries and museums all, over America and I remember learning about Susan and Bob. I’m 59 now and am finally making art myself. Naive, but it’s a lot of fun. I didn’t think my art was valid because I am autodidactic. I have since revised my opinion. 😂. Art in any form is valid. Thank you for this interview, it is nice to catch up with Susan.

I don't know how you don't have millions of views and subscribers. As an artist myself, these videos are so beautiful, so inspiring and hopeful. I'm near tears and smiling, watching, every single time. Thank you for sharing their stories and spaces with us.

So lovely! What a beautiful woman, I am deeply touched by this portrait. Makes me thinking of my time in NY in the 1990s and makes me wish, to visit this city again. Also, my studio in Carinthia, Austria, is my happy place. Whenever I enter this room a deep, inner peace gets me and holds my soul like I´m in heaven. Your portraits are very important against all this art business, that is shown around the world. Keep going, Joshua.

I look forward to this series so much, defo my favorite thing on youtube. i didnt grow up with long lived and hopeful elders and seeing theses artists thriving into their 80s and 90s is really encouraging to this 47 year old. beautiful vids!

Totally agree. Have a nan who is 95 who (as much as I love her) does very little for the last 15 years except sit infront of the TV. It put me off being old but it's nice to see (as a painter) that you can still be making the most of life at that age

These are so beautiful and every single one makes me tear but this one had so many special moments. Capturing these stories is so important. You have inspired me to create a video of my father's life as an artist, but through my mothers lens since he unfortunately passed almost 15 years ago in 2010.

    94!!!!! Marvelous!!!
My concern with the artists in these NYC Artists' Loft spaces you've featured in this project/book series is what happens to their studios when they pass on?
Does the city or state scoop them up and make them market rate or rezone them or do they pass on to other NYC artists???

Her longevity is no doubt due to her "joy" for art, even amid all the sadness of losing her brother. I'm not a feminist, but I certainly believe that women should be treated equally and it's true that women have been marginalized unfairly in the arts. Kudos to her for helping to create change. 🎨🎉🎈✨🪄
