2000-2001 New Flyer D60HFs In Service On The Q10 & Q52 At MTA Bus

15 years ago, the MTA conducted a test to see how articulated buses would run in Queens, primarily on the Q113 line. 5 buses from The Bronx were sent over to Baisley Park to conduct the tests.
Fast foward to March/April of 2013, articulated buses officially made their way to MTA Bus, at JFK and Far Rockaway Depots. They debuted on the Q52 line and were used as a test and to train operators on them. They eventually made their debut on the Q10 in May of 2013 and became a mainstay of the line.
During the beginning of artics debuting at MTA Bus, a fleet of 2000-2001 D60HFs were sent to JFK Depot. A majority of these were renumbered due to the Nova Bus LFS Artic orders at the time, with others maintaining their original numbers. These(and the 2002-2003 D60HFs) were the prelude to what would be orders of New Flyer XD60s making their way to MTA Bus, marking the first time that MTA Bus would receive brand new articulated buses.

It was fun seeing these in Queens, especially whenever I managed to see at least one of the older ones on the Q7 before they were sent back to Transit.
