Brilliant fun. From a performance at the Armadale Hotel in 1986.
Vale Phil Emmanuel.
Before Tommy Emmanuel became a household name he and brother Phil played at Australian pubs. This video was recorded in 1986 at the Armadale hotel. It was recorded on U-matic from a single tube camera with sound from the desk so pictures aren't great but the sound is.
Thank you to "victorian times" for letting me know this gem existed! Love tommy. Miss phil so much.

tommy is obviously touched with greatness but phil is very very cool. been to two of his shows (in the rural australia circuit) and he was ridgey didge great fun and great talent
just saw Tommy recently he was amazing the sound he gets from an acoustic guitar is incredible

They are so complimentary of each other. Phil(may he rest in peace) is such a great lead guitarist and Tommy absolutely enjoys and is great playing bass and rhythm back up at the same time on acoustic. Tommy is still a legend playing acoustic or electric. He is one of 5 Certified Guitar Players as named by Chet Atkins

A spooky classic, done by--everybody. I like the Outlaws' version. I think Vaughn Monroe had the original hit; not sure. My dad could belt it out.

You must listen to Molly Tuttle play her guitar. Incredible - she is a bluegrass artist but also crossover into several genres. White Freightliner Blues, gentle On My Mind, or for a real gem her and Lindsay Lou on upright bass playing Stereo System by Operation Ivy, though she does not do much solo work on that one - it's just cute

The Emmanuel brothers were/are two of the best guitar guys to come out of Oz! Personally I still think Phil was much better than Tommy, although Tommy has the higher profile and is touted as better. BTW this was not Riders On The Storm by The Doors, but Ghost Riders In The Sky!
It is heart breaking just how dangerous Asthma really is and it took Phil from us far too soon and young. It isn't something to be trifled with.
Imagine the music these two could of been still pumping out to this day if he was still alive.
