While Alia & Shahid were great..Kareena wasn't even the main lead and still stole the show❤ Her pairing with Diljit was a masterstroke in casting. Such soothing chemistry.

Kareena stole nothing lol Kareena was the weakest in terms of performance among all the 4 leads, nobody even remembers that Kareena is in UdtaPunjab, people either talk about Shahid or Alia when people mention UdtaPunjab.

@@Rash23215 Parneeti Chopra rejected it. Other actress did too but Alia didn’t give names. When director approached her, the production team already mentioned that many actresses rejected it. There’s an interview of Alia where she revealed this.

This movie should be in the list of The Greatest movies of all time.....very few films made on themes of Redemption.... I remember the government tried to ban the movie coz of obvious reasons.

Alia has taken some daring roles in her career like Highway, udta Punjab, Darling and all. And first two she did in her early career which not many female actors do honestly. I admire and love her. She’s pure talent and really good soul, some people hate her for no good reason, just same that bs nepotism bakwas.
12:03 This part right here is what impacted me the most about the substance-abuse problem. People who abuse aren't just a liability to themselves alone, they end up dragging down other people who are living their lives happily and lawfully. This was the case with one of my cousins. He was living in hostel and his roommate was an abuser. He made his life hell when my cousin refused to partake in the abuse - constant bullying, constant money borrowing and never returning. When he refused to give loan further, stealing and damaging his stuff started happening. My cousin had to shift to a nearby PG accomodation till next year.
I studied in punjab at that time. I was addicted for 4 years. Came after seeing death. Now clean for few years

Lauda best performance... There are a lot of Dark colour actresses suitable for this role but they took a Fair girl and made her black with Makeup... It looks so bad to the eye... Her performance was good but not her career best... She got the role because of Nepotism and even won an unjustified filmfare for this performance... While Shahid being at his absolute best at this movie didn't get any award...

There was so much buzz before the release of the movie because the infamous CBFC in India wanted to stop the release of this movie and demanded numerous cuts in it if at all it was going to be screened in theatres. I remember during those years when the movie was made and released, we used to hear a lot of stories and incidents about drugs and painful ones at that. I'm from Punjab and I can say this movie is so well-intended and so close to reality that it makes you feel nauseous.
Kareena's performance was most underrated
Diljit, Shahid, Alia, Kareena all shined in their spaces.

Guys also react to Abhishek Chaubey's ''Sonchiriya''. It is by far his best directorial. Its a stellar film but sadly one of the most underrated film. Unique cinematography I have ever experienced and probably the best ensemble bollywood has ever seen.
Its Sushant's and Manoj Bajpayee's one of the best performances.

The movie is way close to the current reality in Punjab. There's a serious drug problem that exists among youth in Punjab created by Pakistan government-sponsored entities.
In the movie, it seems they downplayed a bit anyways a great portrayal by Shaid/Alia/Diljit/Kareena.
