In this Episode we take the 4 door Sidekick out for a little test drive to see if the new roof rack and light bar are mounted in a way the makes them quiet on the trails. No one likes an annoying a rattly, squeaky trail rig, especially me. Steph serves as the passenger and the camera person today. The 4 door is the rig that Steph usually drives when we are on a run or to rescue me from myself in the desert when I make a bad decisions.

Do you have a video of you installing that rack? A hear a lot of guys calling those tin tops. Did you have to bolt through the top or were you able to bolt thru the track that is on top? It could probably use a couple more legs on that rack, probably in the middle. It looks good. I think those racks are rated for about 250 pounds.

Willie, here are two videos for how I mount a roof rack on a Geo Tracker or Sidekick, 2d4 and a 4dr....both are basically the same. ruclips.net/video/RAkEdREJHM0/видео.html and ruclips.net/video/edWCbYLlM8k/видео.html The way that I mount roof racks may not be exactly the way others do...but works for me.
I make my own mounts, sometimes from the hardware that is included with the roof rack. ruclips.net/user/shortsZ8O8Uypayrs How to make your own roof rack mounts. ruclips.net/user/shortsnF4-YhQlkb8

I looked in you store and it said that the 84 inch rack wasn’t available and they said they didn’t know if you were going to have any more.I did see the 64 inch but I think I would rather have the 84 in and go the full length of the 4 door sidekick.
Got another question for you. I was thinking about painting my sidekick with bed liner paint. maybe army green. Have you ever heard of anyone doing that. Don’t know if I should put clear coat over it. I know it would be hard to clean the cracks and crevices but it would cover up a lot of defects on the body. Just wondering what you thought.

      84" Rack... amzn.to/4adulTO
Bed Liner?? It has been done by more people than you think...some are addicted to it...lol,
I personally do not have an opinion of bed liner paint jobs. However I would not do it to any of my Trackers or Sidekicks. My simple reason for this position is that it is a royal pain in the ass to grind that shit off if you ever want to re-paint or if you come up with a better idea.
I got into trackers years ago because they were cheap, inexpensive or affordable... never cared if it was dinged or scratched or dented. Just needed something to explore the desert in that was dependable enough to get me back home. I just need a vehicle that can get me out of town, away from it all so I can, on occasion, unwind and reset.
