About 25-30 years ago I got to know an elderly priest friend of one of my uncles pretty well and one day he brought up Padre Pio. I knew a little about Padre Pio so I was interested in what he had to say about the man. He told me he had be stationed in Rome for a period of time not too long after being Ordained. He told me that he and another young priest took a trip from Rome to San Giovanni Rotunda and hoped to be able go to one of Padre Pio's private masses. He said that he and the other young priest were told to be ready for mass the next morning because they were going to be serving for Padre Pio. I asked him if he had witnessed anything and he could barely speak when trying to answer my question. This priest told me he saw the wounds on Padre Pio's hands open wide enough during Consecration that he could see through the wounds. He said Padre Pio suffered tremendously during Christ's passion. My grandfather was ill hospital, my father went to see him in his room, he was pacing up and down the small room and when my father asked him what he was doing, he said I am going to die tonight, my father was shocked and told not to have such thoughts you are ok , you are walking around talking but his father looked him in the eye and said I am going to die tonight. they hugged and my father left, Grandfather died in the night asleep. Padre Pio is dead. He may be in heaven but he definitely can’t hear you. God is the only one that can hear you and can answer you. So worship Him and pray to Him only!
I've had a couple similar experiences. Not with Padre Pio but I saw my daughter as a toddler before she was born. And I've had a couple other strange oddities kind of like what you and I experienced from dreams. You're here on this earth just like I am so let's try to make the best of it even though we still have plenty of trials and tribulations to go through. Much peace to you and yours. ❤
I am confused about the stigmata: in crucifixion the nails went through the carpal bones yet the stigmata shows as being through the palms. If I am missing something obvious I would appreciate an explanation.
Most Catholics / Christians are unaware that the nails went through the wrists essentially because in the Scriptures Jesus refers to the nail holes as being in his hands in talking to doubting Thomas. (Jews considered wrists as part of the hand.) God is more concerned with symbolism rather than scientific details in helping people understand His message. Most Crucifixes and paintings show Jesus with nails through his palms. Consider that God told Jews they were "unclean" for touching a corpse and had to be quarantined for a period of days... they could not understand the concept of bacteria / germs. Pigs were also declared "unclean" by God as the meat has to be thoroughly cooked to prevent Trichinosis parasitic infestation. At the time, the Jews were wandering with Moses in the desert where there was insufficient firewood.

I would tend to believe that the crucifixion went through Jesus's palms then. They are many saints that had the stigmata though the longest for Saint Pio.

@@Tommy88- No Spiritual Consolation: Away went Emotional Evangelical Enthusiasm. She had to Walk by Faith, not by Feeling. She had asked for this, when she asked to feel how Christ felt, in that moment of Abandonment on the Cross, where He began to Pray the 22nd Psalm. After 50 years, Consolation, Confirmation and Joy returned to her. She had continued to Love, even when in Pain, forove of the Lord. Much like Padre Pio, who carried the Stigmata with him, for 50 Years.
I agree, no one knows the day of their death. If everyone where to know that day, every person will do that outer best to work righteous good deeds pleasing to God or those who disbelieve will do their outer worst to waste their lives till their end comes.

I'm 73 and have only been Catholic since age 42, I myself am not afraid of my own death; only of sinning in the last part of my life and thereby not obtaining the place in Heaven that God has prepared for me.

@mr. christian Jesus gives a Saint the stigmata, He will put it in a place familiar with Christians at the time, not only that but if it were put in the spot Jesus may have had it, life would be too tough to do the usual stuff because of the pain and also itd make him vulnerable to getting hurt even worse. Something I don't understand - why are the holes in the palms when a) it's understood that to carry the load of the body weight, the nail has to go through the wrists between where the radius & ulna meet and b) the Shroud of Turin indeed shows the wounds to be in the base of the wrists not the palms?
Because in order to intensify the pain, the barbaric excecutioners entered the nails into his palms at an angle in such a way as to cause them to exit his wrists 😢

In the Roman days the hand and wrist both were considered the “hands”. If someone was crucified, according to research, it would have been a spike driven through the wrist between the 2 bones in the forearm. Christ would have been crucified the same. The prophecy saying that none of His bones were broken was fulfilled when the Roman soldier didn’t break His legs. If the palms of Christ were pierced then the prophecy would be nullified because it would certainly break the bones in His hands. So that leads me to heavily question the stigmata on this man’s hands and what that was about. Just a thought.

More recent archeologists and historians have shown that the nails were driven into a crucifixion victim’s wrists - not the hands. Nails in the hands would be ripped out of the fleshy hands due to the victim’s weight - probably prior to death. However, the piercings on Padre Pío show the nail marks where they are shown in paintings - which makes me wonder.

About 25-30 years ago I got to know an elderly priest friend of one of my uncles pretty well and one day he brought up Padre Pio. I knew a little about Padre Pio so I was interested in what he had to say about the man.
He told me he had be stationed in Rome for a period of time not too long after being Ordained.
He told me that he and another young priest took a trip from Rome to San Giovanni Rotunda and hoped to be able go to one of Padre Pio's private masses.
He said that he and the other young priest were told to be ready for mass the next morning because they were going to be serving for Padre Pio.
I asked him if he had witnessed anything and he could barely speak when trying to answer my question.
This priest told me he saw the wounds on Padre Pio's hands open wide enough during Consecration that he could see through the wounds. He said Padre Pio suffered tremendously during Christ's passion.
The priest passed away in the early 2000's. I don't remember what year the priest told me about Padre Pio and what he witnessed, but it was around 1995 - 1998. I asked my uncle why he hadn't told me about this before and he said it was the first time he heard it.
I'm aware of the fact people make up stories, but this man is not one of them. This priest (Monseigneur) saw something he believed to be supernatural straight from God. He believed he witnessed the spilling of Jesus Christ's blood, his pain and agony when having stakes driven through his flesh/bones, and the opening of the wounds so that all present could see.

Padre Pio is dead. He may be in heaven but he definitely can’t hear you. God is the only one that can hear you and can answer you. So worship Him and pray to Him only!
Padre pio showed up in my subconscious world before actually knowing who he is.
I've had a couple similar experiences. Not with Padre Pio but I saw my daughter as a toddler before she was born. And I've had a couple other strange oddities kind of like what you and I experienced from dreams. I am confused about the stigmata: in crucifixion the nails went through the carpal bones yet the stigmata shows as being through the palms. If I am missing something obvious I would appreciate an explanation.

Most Catholics / Christians are unaware that the nails went through the wrists essentially because in the Scriptures Jesus refers to the nail holes as being in his hands in talking to doubting Thomas. (Jews considered wrists as part of the hand.) God is more concerned with symbolism rather than scientific details in helping people understand His message. Most Crucifixes and paintings show Jesus with nails through his palms. Consider that God told Jews they were "unclean" for touching a corpse and had to be quarantined for a period of days... they could not understand the concept of bacteria / germs. Pigs were also declared "unclean" by God as the meat has to be thoroughly cooked to prevent Trichinosis parasitic infestation. At the time, the Jews were wandering with Moses in the desert where there was insufficient firewood.

I would tend to believe that the crucifixion went through Jesus's palms then. They are many saints that had the stigmata though the longest for Saint Pio.

She had asked for this, when she asked to feel how Christ felt, in that moment of Abandonment on the Cross, where He began to Pray the 22nd Psalm. After 50 years, Consolation, Confirmation and Joy returned to her. She had continued to Love, even when in Pain, forove of the Lord. Much like Padre Pio, who carried the Stigmata with him, for 50 Years.

Saint Francis of Assisi didn’t have holes....he had ACTUAL NAILS growing through his hands and feet, from a cartilage like tissue ....the nails had heads and were even folded back onto themselves on the other side like as if they had been hammered on the point. It was really hard for him to walk. His friends carried him around. There have been other Saints with different styles of stigmata. It’s not a photocopy. More like a living work of ART.😊

Since the refugee crisis in 2015 I am waiting for the inflation we are in right now. At the moment I expect a revolution in Germany, a Russian attack and the RETURN OF CHRIST! This was prophesied by a Bavarian named Alois Irlmaier some 70 years ago. He has been the best seer there ever was. This eclipse was prophesied over 50 times through all the centuries, on the website are more warnings of it.

Something I don't understand - why are the holes in the palms when a) it's understood that to carry the load of the body weight, the nail has to go through the wrists between where the radius & ulna meet and b) the Shroud of Turin indeed shows the wounds to be in the base of the wrists not the palms?

In the Roman days the hand and wrist both were considered the “hands”. If someone was crucified, according to research, it would have been a spike driven through the wrist between the 2 bones in the forearm. Christ would have been crucified the same. The prophecy saying that none of His bones were broken was fulfilled when the Roman soldier didn’t break His legs. If the palms of Christ were pierced then the prophecy would be nullified because it would certainly break the bones in His hands. So that leads me to heavily question the stigmata on this man’s hands and what that was about. Just a thought.
Jesus wasn’t nailed to the cross through his palms, it was through his wrists. You can see it in the Shroud of Turin. The blood stains are on his wrists, not the back of his hands

More recent archeologists and historians have shown that the nails were driven into a crucifixion victim’s wrists - not the hands. Nails in the hands would be ripped out of the fleshy hands due to the victim’s weight - probably prior to death. However, the piercings on Padre Pío show the nail marks where they are shown in paintings - which makes me wonder.
