Did you recognize the Lawyer? She's the original Na'toth. She still had one episode left in her contract when they switched actresses so she came back to guest star here.
The bear was a gift to JMS from the Script writer, Peter David, as a thank you. JMS doesn't do cute ... So he literally wrote the scene where the bear is spaced (bit mean, but there you go). The phrase "Babylon 5 isn't some kind of Deep Space franchise" was a little poke at Star Trek Deep Space 9, which was also showing at this point in the 90's. Also, the actress playing the lawyer, was N'toth in Season 1.
D'he f'urst! My friends and I used that as a rallying cry after this episode. Nothing significant there, but a fun fact. Sad you didn't show one of my favourite parts of this episode: Ivanova: Another lesson? What this time? Sheridan: Beauty .... in the dark. Ivanova: It must be working. You're beginning to sound just like a Vorlon.
The Teddy Bear story: Peter David's (writer) wife bought JMS the teddy bear. JMS HATES cute & cuddly- and vowed payback for it- hence the "spacing the bear" scene- it replaced a darker scene (as scripted, the souvenir shop sold some too realistic toy guns)
i liked how Londo was able to tell sheridan that minbari can lie because of the episode in the first season where he was hanging out with Lennier lied on his own behalf
There are two callbacks here to Quality of Mercy - the one you mention, and Centauri ... attributes. Peter David also called back to Londo and Lennier's adventure in Soul Mates, where Lennier gives Londo a deck of marked cards.
Sheridan definitely earned himself some points giving Lennier some cover with his counteroffer to have Lavell just give honest testimony of what he saw and heard, without the reasons for it.
I don't believe it was the warrior caste that instigated this. Wasn't it noted in the episode that only a few members of *Lennier's* caste that were responsible? And it was done without any real authority. Not even with approval from the rest of that particular cast. . .to say nothing of the _Gray Council,_ etc. 😬 Thank you for reacting to this show. You can have members of more than one caste in each clan. Remember in Legacies they mention that Bremner was the child of warrior and religious caste parents. So it is possible that it was warriors within the 3rd Fane who did this. But yeah, it wasn't the warrior caste as a whole.
Sheridan's lawyer is the actress who played the original Na'Toth. Never forget her almost beating the Deathwalker to within an inch of her life. I believe the heavy Narn make-up was too much for her, so she was replaced. Cool way to bring her back though.

As best I can determine, a clan is always of a single caste. So all the guys behind the plot are Religious. Interestingly, members of one caste can be more or less like other castes. Warlike Religious, religious Warriors. I don't think we meet a Worker, but probably the same for them. [Shelley, please consider reacting to BUCKAROO BONZAI. "No matter where you go, there you are."] SPOILER: Warriors will make their move, but later. Btw, I'm pretty sure Vir's family visit is a joke. Londo just can't be straight-up nice.
