Former UFC light heavyweight and heavyweight champion Daniel Cormier competed in the most serious wrestling tournaments prior to a high-powered mixed martial arts career. Cormier captained the United States national team, won bronze at the 2007 World Championships, won the Pan American Games, and fought in the bronze medal bout at the 2004 Olympics.
