OMG your comments on grunting when getting up made me laugh out loud! I’m 70 so maybe can be part of the Codgers Club! I have to train to get out of my tent! You know, the backward reverse pushup! I grunt !😊
Idyllwild is a great place to zero. I have friends there who this year got snow up to almost their second floor. They woke up one morning and they couldn’t even see a bump where there truck was. You can imagine how rough it was shovel8ng a path so they could let their big old lab out to pee. And when they took him out he was none too thrilled by the walls of snow towering way over his head, poor doggie. Idyllwild gets snow but I’ve never seen it that snowed in. Big bear got about the same. Big bear has ski resorts but the roads to the resorts were so buried that the resorts couldn’t operate cuz they couldn’t plow the roads fast enough to keep up with how much snow they got dumped on them. It’s been a crazy year.
Nice hiking day with some snow here and there. First day of spring (20th) tomorrow.. You'll be doing some warmer hiking soon! Cute campsite for the night. The humor is always a welcome and funny addition. Hike on!!
Enjoying the vid's. So your coming up on 4 mountains in pretty close proximity, San Jacinto, Big Bear, Wrightwood and Baden Powell. I've hiked all of those mountains and would hate to miss them but, If it's dangerous don't risk your life for a nice view. You can always come back and hike them some other time. Enjoy the vids
😂😂😂 Just loved the sports commentator! "Stepping up to the plate... Ohhh! No hesitation at all..." Brilliant. 😂😂😂 Rumbles?! Hahahaha! Mine sounds like the mating call of a whale 🐳. 😂 I still prefer No Filter to carefully considered words. You guys rock. 🎉
I've contacted my Las Vegas bookie and placed my bet on which route you'll choose after Idylwild. I'll be watching with bated breath ... Stay safe! Go Codgers!
Love the breakfast Joe, I may pinch that idea (heading out in April). The updates are great and I love your sense of humour. The water crossings look cold! I was thinking about not taking extra camp/water shoes but now I’m reconsidering. Happy trails😊
This is an interesting year because the snow pack in the Sierras will create a backlog of hikers at Kennedy Meadows....waiting for favorable conditions to proceed
Enjoying your hike so far! Last hiker I watch through the PCT was Restless Kiwi in 2019, another high country high snow year, but not as much as this year. She did a fairly thorough chronicle of her journey, being a solo hiker and ex-military. Looking forward to your travels, hike safely guys.
Thanks for sharing your journey with us! My husband and I are loving it as our daughter and son-in-law are just a few days behind you. Question no filter😉 can you share the name of the protein shake your drinking? Thanks!
I am so glad I found your page. You both seem like such great people and I love the positivity. I am planning to hike the PCT in 2025. I see you each have one of the tents I am considering. Would you consider doing a review of the pros and cons comparing the two?
They call it a caliente because a lot of that is connected to tribal land. The Agua Caliente Band of Cahuilla Indians. They have natural hot springs in Palm Springs.
Wow, Agua Caliente is usually a small mountain stream -- perennial, but small. I don't know the name of that lake/reservoir, but there's no way it's Lake Morena. You're well north of there now.
Hi. My wife and I are enjoying following you guys. We are wondering what day you started? Also it would be cool to know what PCT Mile mark you camped at each night. Thanks
Thanks for the idea for the funnel. I have that coupler and it still didn't occur to me to do what you did. How is Mr. Freeze. Is he going to rejoin you later?
I am really enjoying your adventure 👍 If you don’t mind me asking, where do you guys live ? How old are you guys ? How many years have you been hiking together ? Thanks for the great videos
Although it isn't recommended to state exactly where you are on the trail, they are typically within 1-2 weeks out of current day. Thanks for the recommendation. ...editor
If you don't mind me asking what was your start date ? I did the PCT in 2016 want to do it again . I do like the comment you make your more authentic .
Beautiful places! Thanks for sharing your story. 🙂

Great cometary!
Really enjoying your videos, thanks for posting. Any and all foodie bits are interesting and more than welcome!
No apologies needed about longer episodes . . . love every minute. Keep em coming!
I thoroughly enjoy your videos! Be careful, and thank you for sharing!
That funnel is brilliant! Lol. Thank you! I just might copy that!
You would have made a great sport announcer! Love watching you codgers !
Love the funnel idea. Definitely stealing that!
Beautiful day. Enjoying your hike! Safe travels..
I was 62 what I did it a very dry year . This year should be a whole new ball game with the snow situation.
Y’all starting to get into the beatitudes of this trail!

I like that ultralight funnel. I'll have to use that idea.
Some nice views today, stay safe and hike on !
You guys are almost making it look like fun! 😉
Happy trails 👣
Good to see you lads doing well watch that cough Dave atb Steve UK
Excellent names and how you got them.

I’ll join the “no grunt” club. 🤪
Damn, you guys are always right on schedule. 9 days hiking and 9 videos. Great reporting from the field. David you have a radio voice. Keep on.
I use Ka'Chava as well, it's a great appetite suppressant and gives you nutrients you lose on the trail ☕🏕
Happy hiking and stay safe. If it was me, I would skirt around San Jacinto. Apache Peak’s ice chutes are no joke.
Keep a eye on the weather! Prepare for snow!

Aqua caliente. Hot/warm water. There are natural hot springs in the area. As in Warner Springs!

Hi Susan, I think he said Ka’Chava.
Hi. I’m using Kachava. It is a little pricey but very healthy. You have to buy it online. My daughter recommended it. Healthy stuff.

Guys, don't forget to undue waist and sternum buckles when crossing water. 101.

Mr Freeze is unfortunately mired with unexpected home repair issues. The future is TBD. 😢

Rumbles is 62 and No Filter is 66. Known each other about 30 years and have been hiking together for about 8 years.
Great video. It would be helpful if you would state (either in titles or dialogue) what month/day/day of week it is.
Although it isn't recommended to state exactly where you are on the trail, they are typically within 1-2 weeks out of current day. Thanks for the recommendation. ...editor
Hello what water shoes did you wear? debating getting some for my pct hike this year.
Not much difference between day 9 and day 12 on the smell-o-meter.😅
Honey and peanut butter will fuel you!
If you don't mind me asking what was your start date ? I did the PCT in 2016 want to do it again . I do like the comment you make your more authentic .
March 5
Pretty sure the title should be Day 9...
That is what happens when the editor is working on videos at midnight. I fixed it, thank you.
@@hikingwiththecodgers4086 thanks! Very much enjoying the videos. Keep up the great work and happy trails!
