7:46 Hi, thank you for the video and for your tests. I found them very helpful. Just FYI, the pressure washer hose will need an M22 15mm (not 14 mm). I measured it with a caliper. The 14mm will leak.
Looks like they have changed the pump or at least the exit since my review. I bought another one to build a best starter pressure washer kit and it was 15mm then and used an adapter to convert from 15mm m22 to 3/8 quick connect. (Sound changed for me as well so for sure a change of some sort.) When dealing with 15mm its always best to adapt to quick connect or convert down to 14mm as that gives you so many more options.

Hey Keav, Thanks for this video. I have this same electric pressure washer that I purchased mainly to use for smaller jobs like cleaning the riding mower and both cars while I had bought a foam cannon on Amazon several months ago and never gave a thought how I was going to install it on this unit until watching you use the quick connect spray gun adapter. I like this unit for quick ease of operation while I have a gasoline engine power washer unit for cleaning larger jobs like the house and garage siding areas. 👍👍👍
That adapter is a live saver for many brands out there. Not much thought is put into the design and functionality of these as our demographic of DIY car washers is very small. They are making for the masses.
i got this as a gift from my uncle who used his for a minute and I did NOT like how the spray came out i also bought the foam cannon, but found out the hard way that it wouldn't fit That adaptor was the piece of the puzzle i was missing, thanks!
I don't entirely understand the bucket test, but very impressive detail oriented test results! Cool idea to ditch the handle. Harbor Freight should give you store coupons or something for your review!
Just a simple way to measure the gallons per minute. Start timer and pressure washer at the same time and stop at one minute. Amount of water in the bucket would be the average flow of gallons per minute. The higher the flow the better for rinsing off cars. As you increase the nozzle size it allows more water flow which is why I was using multiple sizes so buyers can decide which nozzle they need. When you increase water flow the pressure decreases so there is a sweet spot for the best cleaning power.
Was already gonna subscribe due to the quality of the review but definitely going to after seeing the bloopers at the end 😂 now I’m gonna have to look into some accessories for mine cause I picked it up the other day for $70 at harbor freight, tried it for the first time today. Time to get my detail kit going!
I looked at the prices for a new uber-flex hose, foam cannon, adapters, guns and such and nearly choked. The price of the attachments was way more than what I paid for the Portland. But after some mental grumbling I went ahead and shelled out the cash and all I can say is that the difference is night and day. I've since added quick connect adapters to all of my sprinklers and nozzles and my little cheap pressure washer does everything I need it to do.
I started out the same way and yes the investment into even say my setup the accessories are more than the $350 pressure washer. They are just nice to have and make the car washing experience so much better. The Portland is the best bang for your buck unit out there too.
I've been using this pressure washer for years....I did upgrade the hose and gun (it was a little tricky and required some special quick connect fittings)
I started my detailing buisness with the Portland than I upgraded to the active VE52 not even 6 months and it started acting up on me so I went back to my Portland but the numbers I got are way different than what u got I use a custom 25 degree 2.5 nozzle I put together and it gives me 1300 psi and about 1.4gpm which I use for the first initial rinse of vehicle when I do the final rinse I use a regular 40 degree 3.5 nozzle that gives between 1050-1100 psi and 1.7gpm i was watching another RUclips channel called imjoshv and he also got those same numbers that’s crazy that ur review gave u different readings 😂 oh well that’s life sumtimes haha
I got a feeling that every pressure washer is different. I know of Josh and wondering if he has amazing water hose pressure coming form the commercial property. Possibly my bucket may not be accurate? My vE52 numbers were lower than his as well.
Sure, but why would you buy it without opening it. They are really telling you that if the product is not fit for your purpose or breaks, you're on the hook for the restocking fee. This means you should automatically add 20% to the price when you are comparing it to other products based on the value.
@@mikerobinson187 after trying it out I think I'll get a ryobi with 3 year warranty and higher psi instead. Harbor freight accepted my return. I told them I wasn't happy with it and they waived the restocking fee.
In this video I was using Gtechniq W4 Citrus Foam. I do not use wash and wax combinations. I like to keep the cleaning and protection separate. Wash and waxes also don’t foam very well usually.
This is usually what works to convert the pressure washer to quick connects. amzn.to/4aSaMkg Sometimes Portland changes around their pump suppliers and the opening is 1mm off so if it leaks bad or doesn't fit you need this adapter. amzn.to/3QleoTm
Soo I’m seeing everything you’re wanting to push to sell in your description. EXCEPT for the hose with the 14mm connector that attaches to the spray gun.
How you get so much foam? I changed to 1.1 orifice and tried two different foam guns and it’s still not foamy. I’m using the Adams car shampoo, could that be the problem? Should I use a snow foam labeled shampoo? Help lol
Adam’s shampoo foams pretty good depends how much you use. A foam soap will do better, but there are other factors such as water quality. Harder water does not foam as much. Try using warm distilled water. You could try a little more soap as well.
I think at least 1650 watts. It’s a 13 amp motor it says so converts to 1560 depending on the type of circuit. You could have spikes depending on nozzle size and other variables. Really safe would be to have 1800 which would deal with just about anything on a 15 AMP circuit. This is all based on 120 volts.
Some major factors to soap foam is your water quality and softness. For instance if I did everything the same and used water form the coat of Florida I would most likely get way less foam due to the hardness. Getting a better foam cannon does help you get the most foam out of the conditions you have.
@@albert333pool That is a 3.0 nozzle which I think is the best mix of pressure and flow for this machine when it comes to car washing. amzn.to/44YyYiF I prefer these though for a little more they help from accidental touching among other things. amzn.to/4bXyICJ
So I bought the adapter and the gun but I don’t get how the adapter goes into the gun? I’m sure I’m just missing something because it seems easy. Is the adapter only for the old gun or does it work on the new one? If anyone could help I would appreciate it haha😊
Adapter is only for the old gun that comes in the box. If you bought a new gun you would need to replace the hose in order to hook it up. If you have Instagram or Facebook DM me @carswithkeav on both and let’s see if we can’t get you squared away.
Can you please give me the link for that extension thing from the thing you said you got from Amazon,I’m having the same problem for me and I need that so badly please thanks
The stock hose has a connection that will not work with any aftermarket Spray Gun. You would have to either use the stock gun with the short adapter and stock hose or get an aftermarket hose to go with the aftermarket spray gun and foam cannon.
I would have separate products as the difference between exterior paint and clear coat are very different. Exterior paint can take way more chemical abuse than car clear coat. For the House Super Clean and really any PH neutral car soap is good to use for the car. I really like Incredible Suds by DIY Detail. Check out their website I have a discount code CARSWITHKEAV that will save 10%
So many reason for no foam. Tube inside the foam cannon is not secure, clog in the tube, soap is not a foaming soap, not enough soap, really hard water, dial not turned in the right direction.
I bought this unit about 5-6 yrs ago I paid $69.. event if I did'nt know that it sold for less years ago, I'm not sure if I would give harbor freight $94 today for this unit??.. I can't find the soap container???
After having this unit for 6 yrs .. I just took it out of the box, so I hope it will work and it will do the little jobs I plan to do, wash my upper intake manifold after I remove it from my truck, siding, and pavers , no major jobs yet.. Great video by the way
If you use the right nozzle tips you would get the same as the self car washes which is between 1000 and 1200 PSI. You will not get the same kind of water flow as those big commercial machines. It will feel different because of that, but the PSI will be the same.
GPM, Gallons per minute. Higher the GPM the better the rinsing ability when washing cars. Also, cleaning efficiency for any task it the best mix of pressure and flow.
Not sure if Portland does, but I have not seen a pressure washer than somebody didn't have an issue with it. People have returned Kranzle and other high ends for similar issues. Manufacturing processes for this industry always have at least a 5% failure rate. I have had it for a few months now and used about 10 times with no issues.
You can use an extension cord with any pressure washer just needs to be a 12 gauge at the least. Most like to deter from using them because people like to use cheap extension cords that are not built for the length or amperage. You can use 14 gauge, but the extension cord must be under 50 feet. Over that you will for sure need a 12 gauge.
No it’s good with just the $12 adapter. It gets even better as you improve everything else, but they are wants and not needs. The adapter and a nozzle are needed and that’s it.
@@CarsWithKeav they might be talking about pump saver cans that you through the machine when you’re done, removes water and coats the o-rings. I use that or rv anti-freeze that’s cheap and non-toxic. Makes a difference with preventing minerals and corrosion from building up in machine, beats me why hardly anyone talks about it
I never really used the gun because it is just not that good. The pump is great which is why I like them. I just use a slightly upgraded hose and sprayer works great.
Its going to be one of 3 things leak at the gun or unit, Not enough water flow coming from the house, possible clogged nozzle. If not any of those might be a defective unit.
@@CarsWithKeav Thanks for that. I exchanged it for a new one. It was still covered under the 90 day warranty. Had I waited 3 more days it would have expired. I bought the 1 year extended service plan too. Hopefully I'll have better luck with this new one. I'll give it a try later on today.
Be careful with extension cords on the manual it’ll tell you what max length is recommended I’m pretty sure that’s how I ruined my first one thank god for insurance 😅
Have to make sure you have the right gauge. 14 gauge at up to 50 feet will supply the right amperage. Problem is most people’s extension cord is 16 gauge and not up to the task of a 15 AMP circuit.
@@CarsWithKeav I see thank you, I'm not well versed on this so I assumed my outdoor cable I had for my leaf blower would work but when I read the manual I realized it was way too long it's 100ft cable
@@CarsWithKeav that's a good idea 💡, you have a video on maintenance already? I know it's not much but pump saver and bleading the air out in the beginning is all things I learned after ruining a unit 😭💀
Have you checked for any leaks? Is there enough water supply coming in? Could possibly be something stuck in the nozzle as well. Just some of the common things that cause this.
@@1slwfk7 Water pressure and flow from your garden hose. Some houses have low pressure and sometimes the pressure washer is pulling faster than the supply coming in.

@@CarsWithKeav sounds good. Thank you for the reply!
Dumb question but is there a soap product you recommend for vehicles and for home exterior?
I would have separate products as the difference between exterior paint and clear coat are very different. Exterior paint can take way more chemical abuse than car clear coat. For the House Super Clean and really any PH neutral car soap is good to use for the car. I really like Incredible Suds by DIY Detail. Check out their website I have a discount code CARSWITHKEAV that will save 10%
I know it says don’t connect to a power strip, but it doesn’t fit in my outside outlet. Will it still be okay to use if I run it connected to a strip?
As long as the extension cord is 14 gauge you will be good.
I just got that same hand foam gun but it doesn’t fit into the 50 ft hose that you recommended I need help 😢
DM me on Instagram with some pics or video of what you have. Well get this sorted out. You can also email at keavneywv@gmail.com
@@CarsWithKeav bet I just did rn I’m getting a haircut I think i did something wrong I’ll get back to you asap
Quick question I don’t know why but I tried my foam cannon stock that it came with and it doesn’t foam up at all it’s horrible any ideas why ??
So many reason for no foam. Tube inside the foam cannon is not secure, clog in the tube, soap is not a foaming soap, not enough soap, really hard water, dial not turned in the right direction.
@@CarsWithKeav thanks so much for the reply I will look into all this
I bought this unit about 5-6 yrs ago I paid $69.. event if I did'nt know that it sold for less years ago, I'm not sure if I would give harbor freight $94 today for this unit??.. I can't find the soap container???
You can still find it from time to time on sale for as low as $59, but usually is $79 most of the time when on sale.
After having this unit for 6 yrs .. I just took it out of the box, so I hope it will work and it will do the little jobs I plan to do, wash my upper intake manifold after I remove it from my truck, siding, and pavers , no major jobs yet.. Great video by the way
Is the pressure comparable to what you have at the car wash ??
If you use the right nozzle tips you would get the same as the self car washes which is between 1000 and 1200 PSI. You will not get the same kind of water flow as those big commercial machines. It will feel different because of that, but the PSI will be the same.
Can anyone tell me the name of the adapters he use for foaming. The adapter the bottle and everything. Thank you.
This is the adapter amzn.to/3tX8zRK and this is the foam gun which they raised the price a good bit since this was filmed. amzn.to/3v00rO6
You can turn the wand 90 degrees isn’t it?
I have not been able to turn it 90
Degrees outside of turning the whole wand sideways. Mine just has the ability to adjust the fan spread.
Is this good enough for to clean the driveway? Thanks!
It will clean to a certain extent, but will take some time and effort. I would use this to wash cars. To do my driveway I use a gas pressure washer.
What were you testing when you were shooting the water in the bucket?
GPM, Gallons per minute. Higher the GPM the better the rinsing ability when washing cars. Also, cleaning efficiency for any task it the best mix of pressure and flow.
Another guy reviewed it and had to return it later , actually twice as the engine was leaking. Do they make a better one?
Not sure if Portland does, but I have not seen a pressure washer than somebody didn't have an issue with it. People have returned Kranzle and other high ends for similar issues. Manufacturing processes for this industry always have at least a 5% failure rate. I have had it for a few months now and used about 10 times with no issues.
Is there a reset for it to bring back its pressure
It just has its start stop pressure. It keeps the same pressure the second you pull the trigger. No reset that I know of.
Ever used an extension cord with it? I know it says not to in the manual but Incase the need would ever arise is it possible?
You can use an extension cord with any pressure washer just needs to be a 12 gauge at the least. Most like to deter from using them because people like to use cheap extension cords that are not built for the length or amperage. You can use 14 gauge, but the extension cord must be under 50 feet. Over that you will for sure need a 12 gauge.
@@CarsWithKeav okay I got a 14gauge at 25 ft so that should be alright
Have u ever tried testing with the gauge between the gun n hose??
I have and get the same results almost every time. I find it easier to see the readings past the gun and its the PSI closest to the tip.
@@CarsWithKeav Awsome keep the knowledge coming god bless fam
So good unit if you add a hundred bucks in upgrades
No it’s good with just the $12 adapter. It gets even better as you improve everything else, but they are wants and not needs. The adapter and a nozzle are needed and that’s it.
Do you lubricant the water pump and how often
I have not lubricated any of my water pumps. Most of these cheaper models are not serviceable.
@@CarsWithKeav they might be talking about pump saver cans that you through the machine when you’re done, removes water and coats the o-rings. I use that or rv anti-freeze that’s cheap and non-toxic. Makes a difference with preventing minerals and corrosion from building up in machine, beats me why hardly anyone talks about it
Mine only lasted about two or three months then the gun started leaking really bad.
I never really used the gun because it is just not that good. The pump is great which is why I like them. I just use a slightly upgraded hose and sprayer works great.
Mine keeps pulsating. It doesn't hold consistent pressure. Anyone know what the problem could be?
Its going to be one of 3 things leak at the gun or unit, Not enough water flow coming from the house, possible clogged nozzle. If not any of those might be a defective unit.
@@CarsWithKeav
Thanks for that. I exchanged it for a new one. It was still covered under the 90 day warranty. Had I waited 3 more days it would have expired. I bought the 1 year extended service plan too. Hopefully I'll have better luck with this new one. I'll give it a try later on today.
Mine isn’t making the sound… I’m so confused
Which sound are you referring to?
I bought mine for $89 and used it once now it’s out of warranty and I’m stuck with this
That sucks. Did you have any issues or you just don’t use it much. These get snagged up on Facebook Marketplace pretty quick for around $40.

I hate those hoses. I replace them instantly. 🤣
13:00 hahahahahahah 😂
LOL I didn't even notice that.
Thank U Sir!
You’re Welcome
$76 at harbor freight if you get the discount!
Yeah, it’s always off and on sales and I have seen it as low as $59 in the last year.
Wount that psi mess up the paint
I had a different tip I mentioned in the video that would get me around 1k PSI
How did you get that foam cannon on the pressure washer?
AT 6:08 I explain the adapter you need to allow the gun to use most foam cannons. Here is the link to it. amzn.to/3zBLxms
You have a pretty house 🥰
Thank You
Be careful with extension cords on the manual it’ll tell you what max length is recommended I’m pretty sure that’s how I ruined my first one thank god for insurance 😅
@@Mustanggt505 I think I’ll add this into my videos when it comes to supplying power via extension cord. Appreciate you bringing up the subject.
@@CarsWithKeav that's a good idea 💡, you have a video on maintenance already? I know it's not much but pump saver and bleading the air out in the beginning is all things I learned after ruining a unit 😭💀
The pressure washer will not put out pressure
Possibly you might have a bad unit? GFCI showing a green light when you reset the power?
got one for $29.99 at goodwill
Awesome, I check goodwill often, but never found anything good yet.
For every one good compliment there are 20 bad ones lol what do you expect for 80$ 😂
More or less. I actually have more luck with lower rated products than higher ones sometimes. LOL
Have this exact pressure washer, has been a great tool. not 1 issue with it
It's been great for me as well.
👍👍👍👍
Thank You
this video feels illegal 😂
🤣🤣🤣
Thanks for the review I’m not going to buy it.
You’re welcome, that’s my goal to inform so you don’t have to make a purchase without knowing.
🔥👍
Thx
Mine surges
Have you checked for any leaks? Is there enough water supply coming in? Could possibly be something stuck in the nozzle as well. Just some of the common things that cause this.
@@CarsWithKeav what do you mean water supply! I’m new to this
@@1slwfk7 Water pressure and flow from your garden hose. Some houses have low pressure and sometimes the pressure washer is pulling faster than the supply coming in.
my guy connected to an extension cord 🤦🤦🤦🤦
14 gauge electrical cord perfectly fine for up to 50 ft on 15AMP. It’s not a cheap crappy one that most would use.
If you dont want it u can give it to me i need one i wanna start my little car wash business
My mother in law has been using it and loves it. If you catch a deal at Harbor Freight I have seen it as low as $59.
It's really sleazy that you were so desperate to use affiliate links for everything that you put one in for a product that's not legitimately sold on Amazon (Harbor Freight doesn't sell anything on Amazon).
I said in the video go and buy at Harbor Freight. Many have asked for the link on Amazon so I added it to the description. If you don’t like the way people do things make your own video on this product and do it the way you want. No matter what you do somebody comes along and comments a bunch of BS. Nobody is forced to click anything.
Drop this man off in Ukraine with this pressure washer, a couple quick connects and a 100' Uberflex and he'll have that war ended in a matter of days.
Don’t forget the MJJC foam cannon and a few gallons of soap. I’ll get it cleaned up. 🤣🤣
