It’s funny people are complaining how short Steel Brigade is. Breaker boots , SE 00 legs , BH/FF torso . Crazy that the Shield/Hydra is $49.99 with 3 face print heads ( license fees to Disney) and Steel Corps 2 pack is $54.99 which is a kitbash , PFP to save on cost ??? , 2 pack ( where the value) and Hasbro owns GIJoe. I’ll wait for a sale , the Viper 3 pack is on sale . Thanks for the review bud, cancelled all Preorders.
I preordered a set of Steel crop and I did purchase the Valaverse Steel Brigade male and female troopers they look like they could be in command of the steel crops and all look good together
Good review. I had heard that these were originally from wave one. You can tell by the body and articulation. IMO Hasbro shouldn't have even released these. But they had a ton of them in their warehouse so... You can tell these aren't up to their current standatds. I bought this set anyway for the accessories.
Male looks to be the Beachhead/Firefly Torso, Stalker/Grunt Arms. Snake Eyes Legs. Female is Lady J/Covergirl Legs and Hips. and what I think is the Movie Scarlett Torso and Arms. (not 100% sure on the torso. Cant see whats under the overlay piece)
Yeah, Hasbro is being 100% traditional with this set. The whole concept of the original Steel "Brigade" set was to re-use old bucks with only the new headsculpt. Here they are re-using Beachhead with Breaker and Movie Scarlet with Lady Jaye. Then re-using the main weapons from the Viper 3-pack, as well as blast effects from the Valkyrie set. From a business standpoint, this set represents a low-budget, high profit margin deliverable, that balances out some high-budget, low profit margin deliverable. In layman's terms, they made this weak-ass set so that they could make a more high-end set somewhere else. I don't know why, but it looks like their heads are squashed too low on the neck, making them shorter than they should. Also, and I am shocked NO ONE has pointed out this VERY obvious thing. The flight helmet...is DOOMGUY. Straight up.
Definitely a sidestep. Great review, always fair. Hasbro need to ditch those pistols, especially after what we’ve been getting more recently. I think I’m going to cancel my order and wait for a sale.
I think my Favorite Kitbash so far uses the green Steel Corp helmet from Grunt with the Valaverse Heavy Steel Corp add on pack armor on either a tan or green body. (If you find a $5 Stalker at Ross or Ollie's they work great)
I just started collecting the line and I've had mixed results. I was really looking forward to Spirit and Outback, but I have QC issues with them both. Spirits hip joints feel so tight I'm afraid to sheer the leg right off. Outback has the bottom of his right bicep splayed so that the arm is super loose at the elbow. In the viper 3-pack those guys have disappointing articulation, with the bulky armor really limiting what they can do. I was really looking forward to this set but man. It's just weird to have seen so many people talk about how great this line is and then just be disappointed at every step. I think the ONLY figure I've gotten with no issues at all has been Low Light, and I didn't even really want him that much, just an impulse buy. I really hope they do something about all these QC issues.
I was stoked to get the set until I really started looking at them. I canceled my order a month or two back, and now that they’re shipping I’m not impressed. This is definitely a step or two back for Hasbro. I never liked the Beachhead body, so this already had that working against it for me. I’ll stick with my Valaverse and Grunt versions.
I think there should be more uniformity with the ball joints within the same line. I agree it's dissapointing that the heads can't swap with some of the other figs.
Technically there is. The earliest figures had the large ball. Small ball is usually only on the later figures with the removable neck and dogbone neck piece. So when they use an old buck like the Viper Island Beachhead we get thrown back in time.
@@gonzo4of9 Thanks. Grunt uses the same buck as Stalker right? Stalker is pretty cheap on Amazon now. Could use another body for that alt head. I picked up two Grunts for 11.99 at Target, but I still have a spare helmeted head.
Great review. I got mine yesterday. It feels disappointing. I tried swapping grunts steel corp helmet as well and the ball peg sizes are different. At this point in the line, single joint elbows for females shouldn’t be allowed.
Would of been cool if they actually had sculpted heads with removable clear lense helmets. I like them but I'm going to hopefully get a deal on them. Great review 👏🏼 👌🏼
I think Grunt looks better as a troop builder. Plus he comes with the classic laser rifle. They look a little on the small scale also. The Jetpack is awesome tho.
Mine is coming soon. I don’t know. I want to reserve judgment until I get them. My weakest joes I feel are the Falcon head sculpt and his accessories. The Covergirl head sculpt. My breakers wobbly legs I can’t even use that figure anymore he remains on the R.A.M. And always will. I think it’s not that bad. I’m hoping with Falcon they provide a head sculpt that can be used on both original and his nightforce version. Otherwise I am thankful I have not had the QC issues a lot of others have had. Sorry you all had that experience. I’m glad I have not. 😝 Also I like the looks of these figures. Hate to be the contrarian. If in hand they are off I’ll definitely complain. Good and honest review.
Well, I pre-ordered this from Pulse. $55 seems a little too much after seeing them in hand. The colors are not doing it for me. The female is Lady Jaye legs/hips and Movie Scarlett arms and torso??? Basically not impressed, Especially that the neck ball joints don't match "All" other Classified figures. I may get it or not...$55 is the deciding factor. Thanks again for a very informative review!!! Peace!!!
Another excellent review. Kinda on the fence because to me the helmet is just FUGLY🤦🏽🤦🏽🤦🏽!! The extra helmet is a little better. Plus eye'm not fond of troops for my Joes.
Skipping them. Vala are way better. Hasbro missed the mark with these. Using the beachhead torso and single jointed elbows on the ladies just reeks of laziness.
Agreed, Action Force Steel Brigade is a way better design. The classified helmet design looks like it belongs in WW2 rather than on a modern day soldier , easy pass for me .
@@Mrknifeskill sort of. But they are good bucks. They started with 3 main bucks. Now they have 4, soon they will have 6. Vala figures were good out of the gate imo. Steel corps is reuse of some mediocre to bad parts imo.

Hasbro Gi Joe Team needs to start including clear flight stands with their product. we should have got a flight stand for bubble and chariot. So these were your amazon orders that already came in?

It just started feelin like they were taking joe fans a little more seriously... then this. oh well. probably going to pass on this like i did the last 2 snakeeyes. thanks for the review! much appreciated!
I don't see how it's petty to pick up a trademark another company let drop. Hasbro blew it by thinking there was no value left in the IP and Vala proved there was. It's equally if not more petty to release this set, which seems like a desperate attempt to grab up the cash they left on the table when they deliberately let the trademark lapse.
I don't understand the constant complaining about the single-jointed elbows every time a new release has them. The few times we still get them due to parts reuse, it's absolutely no big deal, not to mention that most times they look better than the double-jointed implementation in most poses. It's a non-issue for me, just like the visible pins. My only personal gripe is when they do re-uses that are from Joe to Cobra characters and vice versa. I mean, the reuses should be kept faction exclusive. I doubt Joes and Cobra buy their gear from the same supplier, so Barbecue shouldn't have the same boots as Destro for example. That's what I personally find annoying.
To me, its a step back when it comes to posing, the Valkyries were fun and can get into some great poses where as the single jointed stuff can only do so much
So Hasbro literally wasn’t doing jack shit with Joe for years and as a result of their apathy toward the brand, trademarks expired, among many other things. However, a guy who worked on the Joe line for Hasbro (including that 50th SB you pulled up as well as a 6in POC style line that wound up getting axed due to the third movie being canceled) and started his own military line and bought the Steel Brigade TM (SB being his all time fav Joe) is somehow a “petty” move? So the issue is with the guy buying an openly available TM and NOT with Hasbro completely abandoning the Joe property and letting their incompetence free up said TM in the first place… That’s certainly some interesting “logic” right there. TM’s are clearly low on their priority list, this company/team can’t even standardize their own neck and hand pegs with the SAME line 🤦🏻♂️
Having insider knowledge that a six in Joe line is in the pipe, then creating your own after getting laid off and using the expired trade mark in your own is. But each person is entitled to their own opinions
@@beesbattlegrounds Of course we are all entitled to our own opinions, however I do not believe you are basing your opinion on the matter of the toy line and the facts surrounding it. Imo, you are basing your case solely around the disposition and attitude of the guy who runs the line. Insider knowledge of a 6in Joe line coming down the pike is completely irrelevant as Classified still beat Action Force to market by 19 months…so if 6in G.I.Joe line satisfied every collectors need for a 6in military line, then why has Action Force generated millions of dollars in revenue? 🤔 I mean I for one certainly didn’t think that new Savage Crucible KS would’ve done as well as it did seeing as how Four Horsemen pretty much have a stranglehold on the 6in fantasy/sword & sorcery market for toy lines not named MOTU…but the thing funded at over $600K. Clearly I was wrong. Also, Bobby wasn’t the first or even second independent company to try and launch a 6in military line, he was just the only successful one. There’s a new toy Kickstarter launching what feels like every month these days so we all know that if Bobby didn’t bring an alternative 6in military line to market, some other company would have done so by now. Hell, just because AF exists does not mean that another company still won’t also attempt their hand at a realistic 6in military line in the future as well-and I hope someone does because competition only helps us, the customers. The trademark thing is not even a consideration for conversation, Hasbro let the shit lapse. Period, the end. Dude the TM for “Action Force” itself was lapsed and dormant for 20 years prior to Bobby buying it… Regarding this video, for the “Steel Corps”, this was Hasbro’s chance to “show up” Vala and could’ve been an opportunity to make a silent but strong stance by releasing an awesome product, like don’t buy “someone else’s” Steel Brigade, buy ours because it’s better. What they did instead was release a tiny, disproportionate and dreadful looking version of SB. It doesn’t matter how many droopy/warped weapons they throw in the box, this figure is just awful looking and especially so compared to Vala’s. At the least, I believe you and I are in agreement on this one. How about this one: Was it “petty” for Skeletron to buy the TM for Red Shadows which also lapsed under Hasbro’s oh so vigilant eye? With Red Shadows being the enemy team for Action Force, (the AF “Cobra” if you will), it’s literally a part of the same IP. Some people might find it petty that another company swooped in and bought the Red Shadows TM only right after the Action Force KS achieved success… However, I don’t see any of it being petty or sketchy from any of these companies, under the auspices of it all being done legally and it all has been done that way, that I know of (I think we would have heard something by now if it wasn’t). Furthermore, imo, Fresh Monkey Fiction would have not started a 6in version of the Monster Force line if the Skeletron KS wasn’t massively successful, as a fair amount of MF figures are direct “homages” to Red Shadows-quite a few “Steel Corps” in that Series 1 of figures. Point being is that this rabbit hole has no bottom so it’s either all these companies are doing 100% legal practices, trying to corner a section of the market that they think there is demand for, or all they are just petty assholes. There’s nothing in the middle. Basically, what you’re really saying is this; if some other guy brought a 6in line to military line to market and bought the TM’s to Action Force and Steel Brigade (even though this hypothetical company would’ve been to market WELL after Classified hit, just like Bobby was)…that it somehow wouldn’t be petty because that guy wasn’t a former Hasbro employee named Bobby Vala. If you don’t like the guy, just be direct and say you don’t like him and move on. I mean it’s not like you would be the first person buying AF product that doesn’t like Bobby lol. I buy Marvel Legends & Star Wars figures on occasion and I cannot stand Disney, I loathe them lol. There’s only so many hills we can die on at the end of the day.
@beesbattlegrounds was in line at target day 1 when the cobra trooper was released. First time I ever did that. 7.00 am. Even let people in front of me go ahead. @@CobraSaboteur sorry I hurt your feelings by calling someone petty 😂
Nice review but mmmmmm_____ I may pass on this set. Can believe the female is single jointed in the elbows and also the head peg is like that....🤔🤔🤔
I would've liked a single carded figure since I don't want the female and don't want to pay that price
Hascrap is just weirdo. The scale of these is unique because they're shorter. Interesting. 😢
"Hascrap"? Why are you watching this video?
@beesbattlegrounds was in line at target day 1 when the cobra trooper was released. First time I ever did that. 7.00 am. Even let people in front of me go ahead. Got in the store and found out that there were 10 wanting the same thing. Target only had four for the entire area. One trooper, one beachhead one roadblock. Then hascrap pulse mysteriously canceled my pre-order for the blue variant cobra commander after I already paid for it. And tried billing me two more times . Until I had to cancel my debit card. This was after two and a half years!!! Nevermind I'm not going to do business with them again, with chagrin I watch those two monkeys, Lenny and piggy role these things out and listen to the horrible retail stories about the line that was pretty much stolen from the marvel legends team and can't wait to see how far hascrap will sink before it sinks!🤣
Definitely gonna kitbash them by using different legs for the males and hopefully better arms for the females because, boy, these are weak
