It's NOT HARD PEOPLE...I put the whole IKEA PAX closet at age 69 alone and it came out great and love it. Thanks for your video which helps and I am not paying $175+ to have someone put it together for me. Just watch DIY and it's easy.
Thank you, I’m going mad reading all these comments about how hard it is. It’s the same system EVERY piece of ikea furniture uses to assemble and it’s like putting bricks together.. how do people not figure this out ?
@@sarahdiehl9156 Some people have money and want to come home and have it done , rich folks don't care about thinking, they have enough to deal with in life, like ummmmmmmmm making lots of money HA AH AH AHA AHAH! $200 bucks is a joke lots and lots of folks.
This is a good video if you have a ceiling greater or equal to 244cm. If your ceiling is lower than that you will not be able to get the cupboard upright after you build it on the ground. You will have to build it all upright. Just a tip!
I have a low ceiling and the Pax will just fit, which is what I want, but probably won't swing in from the floor. So, is it really possible to assemble it in the vertical position?
IMO There are two very important steps not show in the video. 1. The back hardboard (that's nailed on) does more than simply give the wardrobe a white back. It's crucial to giving the wardrobe strength and most importantly it keeps the wardrobe square. So tack it on with a couple of nails first then measure diagonally to make sure that the wardrobe is square and not a parallelogram. Otherwise your wardrobe will look wonky and the doors will not align properly. 2. Fixing the wardrobe to the wall. These tall wardrobes must be fixed to the wall. Otherwise you run the risk of them toppling on to you. In fact In think the back is put on upside down. Because there are gaps in the back panel for the mounting plates. So it's not assembled properly. See other comments about the bottom hinge hitting the drawer too.
Just a quick tip it’s easier to install the pax with the sides upright instead of flat to ground. This allows you to manoeuvre easier without having to lift the larger boards on top of one another especially when doing it yourself. Simply stand the larger sides up with the back facing up attach top and base once everything is tightened up the wardrobe is facing the right way to fix the backing board. This way you can stand it up without damaging the unit. I made this mistake by trying to turn the wardrobe over and everything split with ease! Fitted a fair few of these now and find this is the easier way.
I followed this video, step by step. When I had finished, I realized that he (& consequently I) had put the back board on upside down. I thought at the time that it didn't seem right, but I just followed the instructions...
Read the directions Ikea sends with the product , never mind these videos. Read, comprehend, mock up and visualize. Get a friend, by some beer after the work. Or take them out to eat. Life is simple.
The back panel is made to look like a quick nail job but you can really save yourself a lot of grief later on if you make sure that it is square and the long sides are not bowed in at the middle. Get a large straight edge or other piece of IKEA to align everything. Otherwise you are going to have crocked doors and draws that hang.
Thank your for this instruction! I have bought one big Komplement and 2 small. The manual is the same and after 1 Komplement the other two went very smooth.
Best video! I feel ready to start assembling mine...but question: I was told you couldn't put a closed drawer at the bottom because it rubs on the hinge of the door. Is this the case or not? You did not fully open the last drawer to the right...thank you!
Does the bottom drawer have problems pullling out because of the hinge? I wasn't sure you could put a drawer at the bottom with the doors, I bought 4 and was going to exchange one for a basket after seeing the assembly instructions recommending to start drawers from the 7th hole when installing with doors.
Did anybody notice you put the back on upside ? The wall mount holes were on the bottom. Easy fix though, just drill some more holes at the top through the wall brackets. That is if your screwing it to the wall. I'd recommend it, it helps keep the doors square and stiffens up the whole unit for a sold feel.
you can squeeze it in if the hinge only touches one side of the drawer like here. It will scrape, but the door will close and you can pull out the drawer. I dont advise it unless it's for a drawer that you dont open often. If you have hinges on both sides of the drawer it wont fit. I have a similar setup that I just installed doors in. There's a reason he skipped showing the bottom drawer opening at the end of the video.
Thanks for posting this. I put 3 of them together 8 years ago and just needed a refresher on how to put it together so I can do the reverse bc I need to take them apart.
Did you fix the wardrobe to the wall ? I am looking to buy one but my area that I am wanting to install has the skirting, so not sure if it is possible to fix it to the wall.
How is the quality of Pax wardrobe? I'm used to solid wood furniture, and that doesn't look to be one, even though it looks great. How is it for 5-10 years long duration? Any thoughts? Thanks!
of course is not solid wood but chipboard! IKEA gives 10y warranty. By the way just bought a combination of 2pcs 1m frame and 1pcs of 0.5m frame, a divider, 2pcs 1m drawer, 2pcs hanger racks, 3pcs 1m shelves, 5pcs 0.5m shelves, 4 doors, 1 mirror door, total 850€ in IKEA Greece.
If u live in rented apartment and u have to chenge your apartment and move its be assemble and what if its break what u thing do u suggenst this for rental apartment if it sutidy or not .
It would be so nice to be able to modify this to hold a table or a tray drawer to put a sewing machine while also storing all the sewing tools and fabric.
Great video, thanks! is your Pax frame come with the door or did you buy the door seperately? The reaseon I am asking is I got the Pax frames first (92 7/8" height 19 5/8" wide). I want to add door after(oops). I notice the forsand (and other models) doors is 19 1/2 x 90 3/8, Will it fit to the Pax frame?
I was really hoping to see how you put the hinges together. There are no close-ups. I have a house that already has an Ikea kitchen installed and I had to take some of the doors off to do some painting, and now I can't snap the big doors back on. All the small doors snapped on pretty easily because the hinges are different. But I have two tall doors on a pantry area that are about 5 ft long with some pretty heavy duty hinges on them. Too bad your video doesn't show how the hinges snap back together because they are designed to just pop off, and they did, but popping them back on is a completely different story.
Have you had any problems with the right bottom drawer hitting the hinge? Did you use standard Ikea hinges? I keep reading in forums about people having to use a router to to allow the bottom drawer to clear the hinge but in your video it seems to work well.
Joli boulot. Ça a l’air d’être facile. Mais la pratique doit être très difficile. J’aime beaucoup ces pax IKea car on peut crée son propre armoire et dressing à moindre coût. Merci pour le partage
No didn't, it is stable enough. For wall mounting, mark the two holes from inside with the wardrobe against the wall, then pull it aside and drill two holes and secure with 45x4mm flat head screws.
Just make sure you are screwing into wooden studs or drilling and plugging into brick, stone etc. Plasterboard fixings are available but perhaps not up to the job in hand. You don't want something this size tipping over!

Amazing, went to the Ikea today and when I tried to build a PAX Wardrobe with the exact same layout as yours it told me I could not fit the door in it. How is your advise on this? Apparently you can do it like this...

Just position the hinge 2 or 3 holes above the drawer rail.
Ikea implicitly states that the bottom draw "must" be a basket draw as a railed draw conflicts with the door hinge
