A suggestion for you if you want to try something topical and helpful- I did a full run-down on the fleets of the Orient and found out something interesting, thanks to the fact that the PLAN has conveniently divided their ships into South, East and North fleets; Could the Navies of Japan and S. Korea stop the North fleet in their tracks? Yes, they could. Can Taiwan's ships seriously interfere with an all-out attack from the East fleet? Maybe. If you combined ALL the navies south of China and even include a carrier-based task force from India, could they prevent the South fleet from doing anything they wanted? Not a chance in hell. So, I guess we know where the US 7th Fleet would have to go, perhaps using P.I. the way a Tiger would use dense foliage. Maybe you'd like to try a scenario to prove me right/wrong, with an encounter between Carrier 003 and the Vik-something with many escorts from various navies? Just a thought.
Nice video, new subscriber. Three things; one, what is the software you are using in the video? It's DCSW? Second, I am an American that lives in Ukraine for the last 11 years, and third, Ukraine needs 'too much firepower' right now. Thanks for the nice video.
A better question might be; is the F-16 the best tool to destroy the bridge? Or is it worth the possible loss of a number of F-16’s to hit the Kersch bridge? Considering they’ve hit the Kersch bridge a number of times, they’ve probobly got a number of ideas for destroying it that don’t involve F-16’s.
Artillery would be the best system but the shells don't have the range. NATO donated rockets are about to get in range but they can be intercepted by AA systems. A mix of F-16 and rocket Artillery seems to be the best option.
@@willhickey7387 I agree. Ukraine has recently hit a refinery up by St. Petersburg with a drone attack, so the Crimea bridge is likely in range. There may be some value in keeping the bridge intact to allow Russians an avenue of escape. I don't know though. I'm just an armchair General in my comfy home with a whiskey in hand watching youtube videos.
Great fun Reapers, thanks for your hard work. The best part of your channel is that your not scripted, creating much more excitement with the possibility of failure always present. Keep having fun and I will keep watching. Peace.
I think this Ukrainian Patriot has been destroyed couple of days ago, in that massive Russian attack by iskander, thats what some channels reported@@grimreapers
great simulation, although if Ukraine did this IRL, they would probability send more decoys or send in an expendable Drones to be missile fodder. among other thing they could have done to reduce missile threat, such as frequent HARM missile attacks (anti-radar missions) which to save their equipment they would turn them off.
they basically conducted this same strike last week but with SCALP/Storm Shadows fired form SU-24s. they over whelmed the russians with drones and while the russians were reloading fired the SCALPS. they got a russian landing ship. the great thing about drones is, they are cheap and they have to be engaged by the enemy AD. even if you can afford the missles....it takes time to reload. the UKR exploited that and got the hits.
They also would move up Airdefense units and wait to turn it on to lure in enemy fighters in kill range (even if it just the radars). Just to keep the enemy fighters guessing whats next and giving them more problems than they can manage...
IRL they would use the f16s to go after their defenses to create a gaping hole in which they'd use Storm Shadow to do the actual job along with boat drones.
I suspect that any mission rarely goes 100% according to plan in real life. So, well done emulating real life! I prefer it to be as realistic as you can make it.
Lol, Keep dreaming, We should have seen extreme success right now with Storm Shadow Strike packages, but it doesn't seem like it did as much as we expected, keep dreaming. Also what this Mission doesn't take into an account is Russian Counter Attacks and Missile Strike Packages. So far Ukraine's "plan" cannot go accordingly when you're forced to defend a lot and lose assets.
Another is if the game simulate failure rate as last I heard DCS simulate equipment whit 100% sucsess rate sure its perfectly fine if both side are equipment have a 80% success rate but when we see a case of Russia Missile having a 20% success rate of working whit a small chance that the missile will launch fly 100 meters and then do a 180 and smack the launcher.
@@Zack_Wester For a combat simulator, and real life, it's best to assume that the enemy has equal success rate as allies. Russian equipment and logistics have proven to be so unreliable it's astonishing, but it's best to always overestimate them. The Russians will probably win the war no matter what, just through years of attrition, but their massive failures will never be forgotten.
By the way they are in negotiations to upgrade the radar. There is pretty much no reason to reject upgrades. Some people were saying AN/APG-83 but thats too modern. Something like a AN/APG-68Vv8/v9 is more likely. Many countries operate it already The APG-68(V)9 has equipped several variants, including the Egyptian Air Force,[3] Israeli Air Force,[4] Chilean Air Force, Republic of Singapore Air Force,[5] Turkish Air Force,[6] Royal Moroccan Air Force,[7] Greek Air Force,[8] Pakistan Air Force, Polish Air Force,[9] Royal Thai Air Force,[10] and Indonesian Air Force.[11]
Greek F-16Cs are currently being upgraded to V standard, so there should be a bunch of APG-68(V)9s gradually becoming available for reuse somewhere else. The initial plan was to use them to upgrade some of the older F-16Cs that were not slated to be upgraded to V standard, but it was recently announced that those will get the V plan too.
Pardon my ignorance, but why are the cruise missiles flying so high, and now I've mentioned that, why is the strike package not hugging the deck until they get in firing range?
I believe it kinda shows the need for low flying cruise missiles instead, the attack profile of the AGM is way too high even with decoys, make it vulnerable to medium and short SAM
Great sim. I would imagine that the US would supply some of the more advanced 500 mile range missiles with the provision that these are for the bridge and no other targets.
hey cap the decoys dont "evade", right now there is a bug in DCS where cruise missiles(especially mods, idk why not the SLAM-ERs) start circling after some time its going to get fixed next update
However, it demonstrates perfectly how a maneuvering decoy drone can be a great asset. And, having datalink, hardly anything prevents it from doing that.
@@grimreapers Great video Cap. I'm not sure on these old MALDs, but there are a couple more modern variants not being sent to Ukraine and I suspect they would be able to evade intelligently. It would be a natural evolution in my mind.
Awesome video. Curious if a real mission would be set up so that the strike package has alternate targets? Seems awfully inefficient for four f-16s to get nearly to the launch point just to jettison over half their SLAMs.
Im a fairly new 'viewington', been watching on a regular basis now for almost 3 months. I always watch before I go to bed, I usually fall asleep during the mission briefs so I miss the entire video but on my days off of work I re-watch the video anyways lol. Thanks for all the hard work and dedication you put into your missions. Always entertaining to watch and my feed my interest on different battles and missions throughout world history.
So... for how long can a F-16 press on with full afterburner in real life, versus DCS? It is a lot of AB in use. If I recall correct back in the 1980´s the RNoAF CF-104D Starfighters could stay on burner for approximately 8 minutes before the tanks were drained. A bit more with all the extras they could carry.
FYI forgot to mention that there was a batch of brand-new s-400 systems sent to Crimea in the last 2 weeks, and bthw no other source confirmed FYI report and there has been 0 video or photo that could prove or dismantle the statement, for now statemnts like the one you made are pure and only speculation
I have always believed that the greatest benefits come from training "worst case scenario, worst possible circumstances". In this case, "worst possible circumstances" seems to mean "russkie equipment functioning as intended"... 🤣
Yes, as intended, but, at least in Ukraine, not as executed. Crimea has very few S-400 or less, depending. They are being systematically destroyed. They have lots of these, though logistically I wonder about replacement vehicles and weapons?
Guys I’m so impressed with your operation, enthusiasm, camaraderie and overall fun you have! 🙌🏽 I just play like GTA or COD sporadically but your content has wet my appetite! Hopefully I’ll get some decent comp and join in but I’ll defo continue watching along as fan!
Cap, I disagree: 2x 500lbs warhead hitting a civilian bridge, especially one that's been damaged before (unknown repair quality), could still take out a bridge. Nothing spectacular like a full collapse, unless a main support structure is hit, but enough to ruin it's ability to move cargo. Still, this was a very good war game scenario.
Another one in the books. And I can tell anyone who has not tried to take off from a road in DCS it is not as easy as these boys make it look. Especially if there's a cross wind component. When you have a nice wide runway you can just coast side to side. On a road that's not an option.
@@ttpechon2535 I read somewhere that Lebanese A29s carry them, so yes? (It may or may not be a legitimate source, though). I'm not sure if Cap and the Reapers have them modded in DCS. Although if not I'd love to see Cap and the Reapers flying Cessna AC208's with Hellfires. That would also be a challenge! XD
@@mariomezquita3492 Ya real A-29s can carry them, last time I checked the A-29 mod they didn't have the hellfires working, from the way you worded that I thought that they finally got em working. And yes that be......agonizing XD
I think if you had a single Mig29 with decoys to fly north around the tip of the ring and fire ahead of time to draw the SU27s, this would give a little more protection for the other decoy/agm planes.
This could be more accurate if there was TORs, SA-13s, BUKs, Pantsirs and other Short to Medium Range SAM sites around Kherson Oblast, and near the front lines along the Dnipro River. With MIG-31s, and SU-27s patrolling the airspace over Kherson Oblast, and the city of Melitopol. This in turn would make it so your current flight path in the Wargame would be unfeasible, as you would be forced to fly at a lower altitude trying to evade SAMs, while also trying to not be detected by patrolling AEW and fighters. Significantly harder to do IRL.
They don't patrol over Crimea and black sea, Mig-31BM operate north and east and less frequently compared to other jets, black sea and Crimea are largely covered by Su35S, Su30SM and Su27SM, fighter bomber telegram from VKS says Su35S are working better and more reliable with R37M than the MIG-31BM.
@@kermittoadfurthermore, they cut into their 31 park by modifying several for kinzhal "hypersonic" missiles, and, afaik, those can't be used for cap anymore. Could be wrong
@@BoraHorzaGobuchul yeah got the designation Mig-31K, hard to keep those birds up in the air with no production lines to replace parts, they were already extended past their lifetime, they're trying to integrate Su34 with killjoys, Mig-31 will see retirement soon.
Likely once the F16s arrive they would move more modern fighters to Crimea. But given the history of the conflict it will likely be after a strike like this anyway
@@zahnatomthey can adapt with helis like they have done with remaining KA-52 by operating them at FOBS, not with jets, anyway they don't have to, they have huge range when they take of from Crimea anyway.
Actually the Russian Air Force has already deployed the bariev A-50/100 awacs already close to Crimea just so the f-16’s can be targeted. I can see them deploying more advanced fighter aircraft but probably not the mig 57. There just isn’t enough of them yet and if one was taken down by a PAC-2 or a fighter, the reputation of the aircraft would be destroyed! As it is right now the Russian government can’t sell their equipment as everyone is watching their equipment being destroyed daily!!! Also who can bring the most logistical support will win. If the engine doesn’t get replaced when needed the f-16 is worthless
@@kermittoadthey also have deployed their A-50/100 awacs close to the area for command and control purposes. We will see who has the better pilots and training! The aircraft now doesn’t matter as much. It’s all modern technology
Tbh looking on how Pancyrs operate in this war and how they struggle with almost anything Ukr throws at them it would be very unlikely that they would shoot down those missiles :)
I’ve been saying now for nearly two years that Russian competence and quality is vastly over modeled in all sims… and Russian corruption and fecklessness is vastly under-modeled.
Yes the maintenance problem is going to be major and also the logistics of getting the spares into theater. I don’t think the UAF has tactical cargo aircraft capability for the fab’s
They would have done at least two separate waves oc drones at different times, one strike would be targeting the Russian defenses, to distract them, another wave to the bridge, then the main strike using the missiles for the bridge and yes if was a reasonable strike
Very interesting. I would say we tend to allow the Russians to achieve the maximum of their apparent capability in these tests when in reality throughout this conflict they have fallen short of that on most occasions.
Didn't Ukraine successfully use SU-24s with cruise missiles and drones to take out S-400 systems in Crimea? So if the F-16s can do the same job as the Soviet jets that Ukraine operate today, they'll have a good chance taking out Crimea SAMs.
That ukrainian cammo with tryzyb looks way too sexy on an f-16. One issue with this scenario is that id expect medium range sam like buk behind the frontline in the occupied area. So exactly where you were, launching at ya. I guess we can pretend there was some additional sead? Or they were hunted by drones.
Gtim Reaper Q: Why do our missions never go smothly Helmuth Von Molke A: No plan survive first contact with the enemy The F16 Ukraine will recive are for the most planes nearing their end of life. So one F16 having to abort on technical issues (Disconnect) are not that unrealistic. 🙂 Great video though.
It would have been helpful to tell us how many missiles need to hit the bridge to effectively break it for long term denial. Also, are missiles capable of intelligently fix on the most vulnerable places.
My biggest question, how much training will the Ukrainian pilots be able to get? If they don’t get enough then it will be a waste of aircraft and money to give them to the UAF. Also who’s going to be responsible for the maintenance of the aircraft? Artillery and armor that were donated by the west go back to Poland and other nato countries to get repairs and refers. I don’t think that will be possible for the f-16’s. Even if the basic maintenance is done by the UAF group personnel, they will need more advanced Tare down and inspection and repair eventually and that takes a long time to get the training and with the RAF firing so many missiles and suicide drones, the repair depots will be under constant fire. Maybe I’m wrong… what does everyone else think????
Every plan is good as long as it goes according too plan. But it never goes according to plan 😎✌️😉 and then you go "A-team" to say at home, "I love when the plan comes together" 😂✌️😎
s400 and pantsir have been hit multiple times and have been filmed by drones, drones have hit moskow too the s400 isnt working needs skill level lowerd and nerfed to be realistic
I feel like the whole reason the UA has put so much pressure on the Black Sea fleet is to clear it out so low flying F-16’s with cruise missiles could come in and take out the bridge or any other naval facility on the Black Sea coast.

A suggestion for you if you want to try something topical and helpful-
I did a full run-down on the fleets of the Orient and found out something interesting, thanks to the fact that the PLAN has conveniently divided their ships into South, East and North fleets;
Could the Navies of Japan and S.
Since the GPS jammers aren't a thing in the game, it's not all that favouring the Russians by giving them overqualified crews.
@@MrToubrouk Time to rebuild the Gustav Gun then.
@@gavros9636 Sounds like a mighty fine idea.
Drones would work great.
@@willhickey7387 I agree. Ukraine has recently hit a refinery up by St. Petersburg with a drone attack, so the Crimea bridge is likely in range. There may be some value in keeping the bridge intact to allow Russians an avenue of escape. I don't know though. Great fun Reapers, thanks for your hard work. The best part of your channel is that your not scripted, creating much more excitement with the possibility of failure always present. Keep having fun and I will keep watching. Peace.

great simulation, although if Ukraine did this IRL, they would probability send more decoys or send in an expendable Drones to be missile fodder. among other thing they could have done to reduce missile threat, such as frequent HARM missile attacks (anti-radar missions) which to save their equipment they would turn them off.
they basically conducted this same strike last week but with SCALP/Storm Shadows fired form SU-24s. they over whelmed the russians with drones and while the russians were reloading fired the SCALPS. they got a russian landing ship.
the great thing about drones is, they are cheap and they have to be engaged by the enemy AD. even if you can afford the missles....it takes time to reload. the UKR exploited that and got the hits.
@@GuyX2013stormshadow did not really do a convincing job on the bridge imo
I suspect that any mission rarely goes 100% according to plan in real life. So, well done emulating real life! I prefer it to be as realistic as you can make it.
Have the potential (real) pilots finished their English lessons?
"No plan survives first contact with the enemy" - Von Moltke
Many countries operate it already
The APG-68(V)9 has equipped several variants, including the Egyptian Air Force,[3] Israeli Air Force,[4] Chilean Air Force, Republic of Singapore Air Force,[5] Turkish Air Force,[6] Royal Moroccan Air Force,[7] Greek Air Force,[8] Pakistan Air Force, Polish Air Force,[9] Royal Thai Air Force,[10] and Indonesian Air Force.[11]
Russia is already shooting down all your western cruise missiles or the bridge wouldn't still be there.
Use some brains people!
The bridge does not link Crimea with Russian mainland. It's links Crimea with Russia.

Great sim. I would imagine that the US would supply some of the more advanced 500 mile range missiles with the provision that these are for the bridge and no other targets.
That's what I thought they'd do with ATACMS!
hey cap
the decoys dont "evade", right now there is a bug in DCS where cruise missiles(especially mods, idk why not the SLAM-ERs) start circling after some time
its going to get fixed next update
Yeah have experienced the same, even with core game cruise missiles and JSOWs
However, it demonstrates perfectly how a maneuvering decoy drone can be a great asset. And, having datalink, hardly anything prevents it from doing that.
Thanks. I kind of like it, makes it look like they're evading?
@@grimreapers Great video Cap. I'm not sure on these old MALDs, but there are a couple more modern variants not being sent to Ukraine and I suspect they would be able to evade intelligently. It would be a natural evolution in my mind.
I dont usually comment but I love your videos cap, I apricate the effort you and your team (Especially CH) put into these.
Andrew, good comment 👏 👌. BTW, I believe that the word you wanted is spelled *appreciate.
I guess there's no point creating the asset of the bridge when it won't be there much longer
Awesome video. Curious if a real mission would be set up so that the strike package has alternate targets? Seems awfully inefficient for four f-16s to get nearly to the launch point just to jettison over half their SLAMs.

Great comment; these guys are great at generating intriguing entertainment!
So... for how long can a F-16 press on with full afterburner in real life, versus DCS? It is a lot of AB in use. If I recall correct back in the 1980´s the RNoAF CF-104D Starfighters could stay on burner for approximately 8 minutes before the tanks were drained. A bit more with all the extras they could carry.
Same as IRL. It’s accurate to the manuals for the F16C.
A better way to get Datalink from the AWACS working is to have it do a racetrack instead of an orbit.
loops!
Cap, the Kerch bridge is relatively new, it's actually newer than the late 90's which is when the map is set.
Yes that's a fair comment...
FYI: Reportage yesterday, indicated that the Russians were moving S-400's from the European Front (particularly Kaliningrad) to the Ukraine theater.
That's probably a reasonable decision. Kalingrad isn't about to be invaded by a combined Polish-Lithuanian task force.
I have always believed that the greatest benefits come from training "worst case scenario, worst possible circumstances". In this case, "worst possible circumstances" seems to mean "russkie equipment functioning as intended"... 🤣
And rusian pilots not having a hangover during the attack...
Yes, as intended, but, at least in Ukraine, not as executed. Crimea has very few S-400 or less, depending. They are being systematically destroyed. They have lots of these, though logistically I wonder about replacement vehicles and weapons?
1:20 shouldn't also the stormshadow etc fit?
Roger, for some reason I was just thinking US weapons.
Matrix is the true Ghost of Kyiv
I think the most realistic missile and one that they are asking for is the Taurus KEDP 350 cruise missile.
tpap has the static kerch bridge for download
Wonder if it has a damage model... "Okay, Marines, it's time to kick ass. Recommend using your Mavericks to take out the bridge." (C)
The Block 50s have the APG-68 which imagine is also getting now, an upgrade to the MLUs that they're getting.
Guys I’m so impressed with your operation, enthusiasm, camaraderie and overall fun you have! 🙌🏽
I just play like GTA or COD sporadically but your content has wet my appetite! Hopefully I’ll get some decent comp and join in but I’ll defo continue watching along as fan!
Why no wild weasel package?
Cap, I disagree: 2x 500lbs warhead hitting a civilian bridge, especially one that's been damaged before (unknown repair quality), could still take out a bridge. Nothing spectacular like a full collapse, unless a main support structure is hit, but enough to ruin it's ability to move cargo. Still, this was a very good war game scenario.
Wouldn’t the storm shadow’s be able to be equipped to the F-16?
I got some serious "Iron Eagle" movie vibes from this mission. 👍
Another one in the books. And I can tell anyone who has not tried to take off from a road in DCS it is not as easy as these boys make it look. Especially if there's a cross wind component. When you have a nice wide runway you can just coast side to side. On a road that's not an option.
Trust me, I know 🤣😉

Absolutely love the videos, bloody great. Ease up on the no watching the briefings sass would you though? My lunchtimes are only so long.
That was a great video! Even with the kinks, I would call this one an absolute win.

Cap eating hat livestream when? Lol
Would including the MiG-31 patrol over Crimea & the Black Sea have made a difference?
Yes.

Good stuff. 👽👍
Likely once the F16s arrive they would move more modern fighters to Crimea. But given the history of the conflict it will likely be after a strike like this anyway
with those ATACMS strikes i dont think they'll dare to move su-35s n stuff to the front. its just too dangerous
@@zahnatomthey can adapt with helis like they have done with remaining KA-52 by operating them at FOBS, not with jets, anyway they don't have to, they have huge range when they take of from Crimea anyway.
They already have modern fighters based in Crimea, few Su35S, SU30SM and mostly Su27s there has been few satellite images showing them.
Great editing 🎉
Why are the a F-16's not firing Storm Shadows from long range and avoiding everything is my question.
The F16 use stand off missiles...so they can remove the Black Sea fleet and the Kerch bridge...and no need to be closer than 100 km
You got the aircraft setting too close on the flight line
One realism flaw: the Kerch bridge doesn't have anywhere near this much protection. Do another one based on what they have.
If they managed to do it with a bunch of panzirs, surely they will also be able to do it with less defence?
@@Bradley_UA if you remove the S-400 coverage it changes the amount of decoys available for the Pansir to shoot at.
No, but it also assumes that Russia doesn't have any AD in the land bridge north of the Sea of Azov, which is extremely unlikely.

Yes the maintenance problem is going to be major and also the logistics of getting the spares into theater. I don’t think the UAF has tactical cargo aircraft capability for the fab’s
Can the F-16 in game really use the SLAMs or is that a mod of some sort? I thought only the f/a-18 could
The 16 can use pretty much anything in the NATO arsenal excluding LRASSMs. But those are being integrated on the Block 70's.
From what we've seen I imagine Ukraine can bodge pretty much anything onto their jets.

Or they were hunted by drones.

love to see the difference between missiles from the 1990's and 2020+ Any chance of a shout out showing the difference?
Why'd you have to make the "bridge" the ship I was stationed on in the late 90s????
Every plan is good as long as it goes according too plan. But it never goes according to plan 😎✌️😉 and then you go "A-team" to say at home, "I love when the plan comes together" 😂✌️😎
