Alphaville is famous for a few songs: Forever Young; Red, Red Rose; Big in Japan. Those are the big three I always remember. I really enjoyed Tommy's cover, although I'd like it to have lasted a bit longer; but he sped it up quite a bit, and that works. Great guitar work on this one.
I'm going to have to look those songs up and see if they ring any bells. Sometimes I know a song but not the name or who does it. Thank you, my friend! 🤘❤️🤘
Alphaville (Synth-Pop) was huge in the 80's, they are from Germany, from a town (Münster) about 20 miles from where I live. Forever Young was a huge hit in the 80's.
I know that particular song was big at the time in the States but I'm not sure of any other songs they had. It's interesting to me when I hear of a band that's big in Europe but barely gets noticed here. Just weird I suppose.
I only remember this one song in America, but I liked it. I really appreciate that you can tell us how these songs and artists fared in Germany! That’s so cool!💗
I love this song! The Rod Stewart one is a totally different song, same name. I like it also, but people would always confuse them back in the day. You should check them both out! As always, Tommy is fantastic!!! Thank you❤❤
Thanks for the heads up, Velouria! I only know a little of the hook but when I know the difference now and I think I was just as familiar with each song- just a pinch!! ❤️❤️
From one metalhead to another, I say thankyou for reacting to all of these legends, their talent deserves the recognition. Gary Moore, Joe Satriani, Steve Vai and Jason Becker were my inspiration to pick up a guitar, and artists such as good ol Tommy here are just another reason for me to keep pushing myself. I can see how passionate you are about music and I will be here for the ride. Keep it up man!
Thanks for a great reaction, We all love Tommy and you are right,he can sing everything ❤. He did sing a pizzameny 😂 check out 'Canneloni macaroni' It's great...ofcourse It's Tommy ❤
As I’ve said before, I was never really into metal. My sister was, so I could have a certain appreciation for it, & I definitely have more appreciation for it now. But with that foundation laid, I must say how impressed I was with that iteration of that song! The guitar playing was insane! I’d probably need some type of speed or something to get my fingers moving that fast! Holy cow! I think it can be hard sometimes to do a cover that is both in keeping with the artist doing the cover while keeping the integrity of the song intact. He did a great job!! I think some people will prefer this version over the original, & some will appreciate the original over the cover. But isn’t that what music is? I mean, we take it in and let it roll around inside us until we have a song/cover that feels genuine and in keeping with our musical style. The versions will speak differently to different people, so we have a song that reaches a wider audience, & I think that’s super cool! I loved this retro re-do. Thanks so much for doing it!💗
Cool you have a Explorer like me, But I cant see a Stratocaster, what the hell? Thats the best axe ever built! Or is it hidden for my eyes? The solo from Tommy was awsome.
Thank you, but it's not an Explorer. It's an '81 Ibanez Destroyer. I've owned that guitar since I was 15! I have a Squire Strat, a Squire Mini-Strat and a Squire P-Bass. I wish i could afford a genuine Fender Strat! Ah...maybe someday!
I love Tommy, and I think that he is a tremendous talent. This one is not going to be one of my favorites, though. It's a bit too frenetic for my taste.
Tommy really is forever young 🤩 And as always whatever he cover it's amazing 💥🤘🇸🇪
Tack min van! I'm always blown away by him! 🤘❤️🤘
Tommy is such a great musician and his voice is amazing ❤
Love your smile, great reaction!
What a great song! Tommy has one of the best voices out there! Amazing ❤
I don't know what's in the water in Sweden, but so many great singers! But Tommy is even more than that- how many singers shred on guitar?!? 🤘❤️🤘

Great for a vigorous workout though! 😂
I love Tommy, but I just feel like this song doesn't work super well in this style. But that could just be me.
He did a hell of a lot better than I could have 😂
