This is one of those songs. You should definitely do a reaction to with the lyrics pulled up. The song is incredibly deep, and he's screaming so hard because he feels it with every fiber of his body. It's for his mom.
The song was about Austin’s mother, who passed away from Marfan Syndrome when he was 17; it was named after the streets he lived on when she passed away and later on when he was older he found out that he has the same illness as his mom. Austin Carlile Was the Lead Screamer in the band.
Yeah the second he said " might even be a sad song" I realized that he must have missed most of what Austin was saying. Absolutely love this song, and the old version of the band.
Too me this is true progressive music. i absolutely adore these types of song structure. Nothing repeats and always leaves you wanting more. As a songwriter myself hooks can be used outside of "choruses" and it's a shame it's used more as a crutch.
I believe this is a different singer and harsh vocals then the new stuff , this was back in early 2000s their 1st album , new and old stuff are both good though

Yeah the new stuff isn't even the same band. 😅 The clean vocalist went on to a band called Dayshell, I highly recommend them.
