The problem with today's society is nicely summed up in the comment section of this video ... People think cheating is ok ...heck people even are trying to make him a martyr ... Okay so my question is if he wasn't get exposed and he was given time to repay the money which he was already doing so easily. Then the market wouldn't have crashed many of the investors hadn't lost their hard earned money and then step by step he and others involved people should get punished. I understand that exposure of it was kind of necessity because no one would have taken any step if it wasn't disclosed to public which causes havoc. There were even chances that high officials with red taping would even continue to commit such fraud(worst case scenario) but atleast the hard earned money of common investors wouldn't have lost.
The market still would have crashed with or without expose! Hyper-inflating a stock value when the company owning stocks has nothing to show for it would've eventually crashed the market. There is a reason why short-sellers bet against the market when they see unsustained hyper-inflation of the market.

Yes yes I do know that when company perform good the prices of shares go up because demand of such share increases and all. But this inflation was created by injecting money in the Market and creating fake demand of shares of any particular company. This is what Harshad was doing. He buys shares which increases their price and then sell them. Which decreases their prices. But he was intelligent. He wasn't manipulating prices in a day or so. He took time. And that's why market wasn't crashing. And let's assume that market would have crashed anyway but it wouldn't have crashed at this magnitude. This time market crashed only because of the news of fraud came and everyone took their money out of the market. My point remain same. If he wasn't get exposed and was given time to refund all the money. And let's assume there were non corrupted people and they had stopped him from further manipulation of share prices. Then then prices of shares and all of market will come down slowly and it wouldn't have crashed. "Mandi" aa jaati bazar me. Also I'm telling you that share prices has nothing to do with the worth of any company
The market crash would have come sooner or later. No market can go bullish for infinite period. Correction is bound to happen sooner or later. If the scam was not exposed, the markets would have crashed in 1998 after the Pokhran nuclear test because foreign investors began withdrawing money from stock markets. Hi Arjita, Yes, that movie is based on the Harshad Mehta scam. But the Harshad Mehta scandal was exposed in back in 1992, way before the movie was made. It is true though that it took several years to prosecute the offenders (except Meha of course, who died during the trial).
So harshad actually gave excellent profits to to those who invested in his stocks until he was arrested.... So actually, the investors who invested in him actually made lots of money..but kept reinvesting to make more.....so basically it wasn't just his lust for money that landed them in trouble...it was their own lust for money
Atleast he worked hard for his "pump and dump" scheme. He had to get the trust from banks , roll money . The "pump and dump" schemes these days are simple. Create a telegram channel , advertise in youtube , get vulnerable investors to join , give recommendation on penny stocks , take money from naive investors.
Don't feel outraged when your bank account have a limit on it issued by RBI like PMC bank because some rich person commited a fraud and led to sealing funds of thousands of people in bank.

You never know when market gets manipulated by any means so you always depend on big trader's decisions and tips for maximum chance of profit is key for success. I know these things just because my grandfather was once senior manager in assets of a company called Mazda which was not a quite reputed at that time. He clearly says that never get into deep of market because market will grind that years of success in a single blow, it's better to take calculated shot once than dreaming of being a crorepati. And It is a common known fact.

Okay so my question is if he wasn't get exposed and he was given time to repay the money which he was already doing so easily. Then the market wouldn't have crashed many of the investors hadn't lost their hard earned money and then step by step he and others involved people should get punished.
I understand that exposure of it was kind of necessity because no one would have taken any step if it wasn't disclosed to public which causes havoc. There were even chances that high officials with red taping would even continue to commit such fraud(worst case scenario) but atleast the hard earned money of common investors wouldn't have lost.
The market still would have crashed with or without expose! Hyper-inflating a stock value when the company owning stocks has nothing to show for it would've eventually crashed the market. There is a reason why short-sellers bet against the market when they see unsustained hyper-inflation of the market.
@@rajatsingh2956 company doesn't own stock. Shareholders own stocks. The price of any share has nothing to do with the position of company. Yes yes I do know that when company perform good the prices of shares go up because demand of such share increases and all. But this inflation was created by injecting money in the Market and creating fake demand of shares of any particular company. This is what Harshad was doing. He buys shares which increases their price and then sell them. Which decreases their prices. But he was intelligent. He wasn't manipulating prices in a day or so. He took time. And that's why market wasn't crashing.
And let's assume that market would have crashed anyway but it wouldn't have crashed at this magnitude. This time market crashed only because of the news of fraud came and everyone took their money out of the market.
My point remain same. If he wasn't get exposed and was given time to refund all the money. And let's assume there were non corrupted people and they had stopped him from further manipulation of share prices. Then then prices of shares and all of market will come down slowly and it wouldn't have crashed.

The market crash would have come sooner or later. No market can go bullish for infinite period. Correction is bound to happen sooner or later. If the scam was not exposed, the markets would have crashed in 1998 after the Pokhran nuclear test because foreign investors began withdrawing money from stock markets.

Yes, that movie is based on the Harshad Mehta scam. But the Harshad Mehta scandal was exposed in back in 1992, way before the movie was made. It is true though that it took several years to prosecute the offenders (except Meha of course, who died during the trial).

So actually, the investors who invested in him actually made lots of money..but kept reinvesting to make more.....so basically it wasn't just his lust for money that landed them in trouble...it was their own lust for money

Atleast he worked hard for his "pump and dump" scheme. He had to get the trust from banks , roll money . The "pump and dump" schemes these days are simple. Create a telegram channel , advertise in youtube , get vulnerable investors to join , give recommendation on penny stocks , take money from naive investors.
