  • Picking Cotton near Beasley Texas
In this video I am out in the field with a Case IH 635 Module Express Cotton Picker. In the video I show and explain how this machine harvests the cotton plus building and ejecting the cotton module.

Picking cotton in August! WOW! Here in Georgia, it’s later. I don’t think the bolls are formed yet. The fields are pretty, though. Hope this storm rain doesn’t negatively affect it. Peanuts look good, too! 😃😃 loved watching this video. Thanks.

When you look at plants most people don’t know cotton is a bush that is tough and don’t be scared to deer hunt them it may look barren after picking but it is the perfect hiding spot we always had great success after the fields are mowed down to control bowl worms

Caseih pickers always picked cleaner than Deere.because it could pick both sides of the row and you had better ground speed control.
We first had a Module Express picker,it was underpowered and parts were hard to get.

What left on the plant is an acceptable loss. It gets cut down and use as fertilizer for next years planting.

There’s always some left behind, and even unopened bolls, some years it’s worth waiting for those to open and you can come back and do a second picking job. I’m a born and central California cotton farmer up until a few years ago when it hasn’t been as profitable, still have the equipment just encase it comes back around!

What's your average production per hectare? I'm from India and a Cotton farmer. Looking for new ways to increase my production

    • @DM6Harvesting
      @DM6Harvesting Год назад

@@Democrazy8597 we don’t use hectare’s. We use acre’s, we go off processed cotton so a good yield for us would be 4 bale’s an acre or 2000 pounds per acre. A bale is 500 pounds of gined cotton.

I was watching a video from a cotton farmer in Texas and asked him about the waste left behind. The guy Conley who runs the channel said it wasn't worth the fuel to go back over it.

I ran a module builder in middle Ga for 2 weeks in 98.
    The most boring job.
First control is a tram running the length, second is tamp.
    (4) 6 row pickers dumping over 2 hrs, while I trammed and tamped.
Lift up tailgate, raise the unit and move forward until door cleared the previous module.
Lower unit and door, then tram and tamp lol.
I now live near the coast (S of Savanah) and some fields are not picked till January and February.

I always wondered, don't the modules fall apart? They seem to just be packed, not twined or nothing. It always feels like as soon as a module trailer picks it up, it will just fall apart.

Several years ago a couple guys tried raising cotton here in south central Nebraska but didn't have much success with it. Don't remember where they had ttake it to get ginned. I think that was the biggest problem, too far away.
