UFC 264 takes place on July 10 at T-Mobile Arena in Las Vegas, Nevada. The main event is the highly anticipated lightweight trilogy bout between Conor McGregor and Dustin Poirier. In the co-main event we have a welterweight bout between Stephen Thompson and Gilbert Burns. This fight is considered by many as a potential fight for the No.1 contender spot.
Gilbert Durinho Burns is coming off a third-round TKO defeat to welterweight champion Kamaru Usman at UFC 258 back in February this year. Burns will be looking to rebound with a big win against Thompson though he'll likely need a few more before he can get another crack at the title.
Stephen Thompson is on a two-fight winning streak following very impressive wins over Vicente Luque and Geoff Neal. A win for the former title challenger against Gilbert Burns would likely be enough to get him the next 170-pound shot after Colby Covington.
The other three main card fights feature Greg Hardy vs. Tai Tuivasa in the heavyweight division, Irene Aldana vs. Yana Kunitskaya in a women’s bantamweight matchup, and Sean O’Malley kicks off the card in a bantamweight bout against Louis Smolka.
