I remember an old public access tv show called “The Tinks VIDdream” where the host played a video from this concert. At the time I was fourteen and didn’t know about Mayhem. I found this concert to be jarring, confusing, and terrifying. I loved it.

With all the respect, Maniac does count as an original member. He did the vocals in Deathcrush, their first album (which was GREAT). Even though the members timeline says that euronymous used to do both vocals and guitars, we don't have any work by mayhem with that line-up.

To be honest after everything that happened in Mayhems career it is a fucking miracle that they even held the band together this long. Be thankful that the original members (most that is) can play the music for you.
Keep in mind this is youtube... so quality could have been lost during transfer or what not. Or possibly way they were mic'd at show. Most likely not... cuz that was the sound they were going for on Grand Declarations, almost marching/war band like. Intro isn't Hellhammer playing but the deathcrush intro by Silvester Anfang

I don't really care how many people disagree with me: Maniac was a better vocalist than Dead. Dead's only worshiped because he killed himself. He never recorded an album with Mayhem.
You can find on internet a version of The Mysteriis Dom Sathanas with Dead on vocals. They aren't final masters of course. He was very good in my opinion, but I don't know if he is better than Maniac. Maniac is just not my kind of vocalist. I like Attila's vocals more than the others. And you're right, those who died are very overrated because that: they are dead. As musicians some of those guys deserve respect for what they did in the past, some guys not.
That is not true Dead vocals were more haunting and cold they werent perfect or polished and thats what made his vocals perfect for mayhem its the same with Maniac he has his own unique vocal style I love Maniac's vocal style but to say he is better than dead? Nope .. but better than Attila? thats debatable . although Attila over all is a better vocalist than Dead and Maniac combined but when it comes to Mayhem he just doesnt sound that good with the band and I am talking about old songs when he sing old songs.

Yes, actually maniac gave me their demo, pure fucking armaggedon, personally at one time in the early 90's. Don't believe me? Tough! THAT shit is hilarious at times with a cover of a norwegian childrens program intro tune, but also crass and harsh as hell. So YEAH, I DO know what MayheM sounded like 20 years ago. (Maniacs vocals sucks by the way)
