The radio literally has like 15 songs that play over and over all day long, while we don’t here these guys on the radio. How do you determine what’s main stream. Main stream is simply whatever you choose to play all day and say that’s what’s hot. If you played curren$y all day then he’d be considered mainstream, there’s no particular sound for mainstream other than what we play and get use to hearing. If these guys were played on the radio then it would be considered the mainstream sound....it would be better than the junk on the radio now.
i feel you, to be honest radio has been repurposed to serve a very specific financially driven agenda - but that doesn't take away from the fact that the artists you mention create incredible, thought provoking music, the radio/streaming numbers/visibility isn't always the metric for quality music in the same way that the popularity of McDonalds isn't the metric for the quality of it's food... as long as we support these artists we can keep the relationship going whereby they can create and we can appreciate, fuck radio.
