Two questions: The burner has a lot of welds. Aren't those welds susceptible to thermal fatigue? Why are there so few ceramic briquettes compared to other grills?

Did they get high-school kids to weld the burners?

Is the sear burner adjusted tot he lower temperature comparable to the regular gas burners temperature? In other words, if you have one grill area with the regular burner and one with the sear burner, can you function normally compared to all regular burners? You would not burn the food or be hampered if you don’t need the sear burner every time?

Thanks for the question! The sear burner does have turn down ability. However, the lowest temperature you can bring it to is still going to be over the 400 degree mark and infrared heat does cook differently than the radiant heat you will be cooking with from the other burners. Meaning, if you were to set the standard burner to a setting that would achieve a 400 degree temperature and you do the same for the sear burner, you will notice that the food over the sear burner will still cook faster, as infrared heat heats up objects and surfaces better than radiant heat. We tend to see many of our customers opt to go with the 42" size with the sear zone so that they have sufficient standard grilling space outside of the sear zone.

@@GilbertFireplacesBBQs Thanks, makes sense to go with the 42 inch Hestan and get the sear for one burner; but I am thinking of the 36 or even the 30 inch, so I will likely go with all regular burners.

Great review on the Hestan grill. I was wondering will any of the Hestan built-in grills connect to Propane? Unfortunately, I don't have natural gas at my home.

Thank you David! Yes, they come connect to either natural gas or propane so just be sure to specify when placing an order.

Hello! To use it as a smoker you can add a smoker tube or box to produce that smoke flavor. The accessories include an optional sear burner, charcoal tray, and griddle plate. You can find the cleaning and care manual here home.hestan.com/wp-content/uploads/2020/03/029014_RevB.pdf
