I think it can run pretty fast
It doesn't run on land that fast, the smaller and younger ones would be faster. However, in water it would catch you easily if you weren't extremely careful. Also, I wouldn't attempt to ride it unless it was extremely tired. That tail will whip so fast to knock you off your feet or put you unconscious. I'm pretty sure you can guess from there what that mouth would do to you.

Alligators are pretty slow on land so a human can easily outrun one, but if you get too close they can lunge/launch themselves forward in a quick burst to catch you off guard. One that big would easily be able to tear off your arm or leg. Gators may not be able to run well, but they have lightning reflexes so stay out of reach.

The largest group that can be called alligators split from crocodiles in the late Cretaceous (~85 million years ago). Alligators split from caimans around the K-Pg boundary (when the non-avian dinosaurs died). And the American alligator is only around 10 million years old.
