The Barbecue Pit was and IS the best barbecue in San Diego. Hands down. Phil's doesn't even come close. I just wish they could bring back the Orange Pirate drink that I never tried.
Ah..the Community Concourse home to the San Diego Conquistadors (along with Peterson Gym and the Sports Arena). Saw a bunch of games there as a kid. When Seaport Village and then Horton Plaza cleaned up the area...it was great. Horton Plaza is long gone....yea buildings are there and all that. Seaport Village is going tourist and used to be a cool and relaxing place. Jerry G. Bishop owned the Greek Restaurant which we loved. The merry go 'round...and on and on. SD was such a nice town....then.
@@bartblankenfeld3990 Sorry price doesn't dictate if a neighborhood is good or not 🤣 those people who over paid over a million $'s are called suckers and dumb. Especially paying for an over-valued house that's built in 1959 with rotted out plumbing, dangerous outdated electrical wiring, roaches oh and houses that are flipped unpermitted and not done up to code ie lipstick on a pig. Yes "Trash" lots of crime, homeless, ghetto birds flying all hours of the night, drug dealers in around what once was the blue roofs oh and I damn near stepped on syringes in the parking lot of Ihop on Balboa ave over by the Water machine. Obviously you are NOT a CLMT native and or are oblivious. So ya don't know what really lurks in my neighborhood.
Maybe it’s the film quality, but San Diego looks polluted back then compared to now. People forget how bad air quality was back then. Many days there was a brown band on the horizon, especially looking east.

Loved the barbeque pit!!! We think alike!! Phil's sucks big time!! Family used to go two times a month. Miss so much!!
@@briangarza7532 Are you not in area anymore? There are two left and I try to get to them when I can.
As a teen, I liked taking the "O" bus to "Big Downtown" SD, for just 25 cents!

Can y’all do a Then and Now of the Convoy District?
Clairemont is trashed now...
Sorry to hear...grew up there from 1967 to 1972...😢
Right, that’s why people are paying $1.2 million for a 1200 square foot house in Clairemont these days. Because the place is “trashed,”

Where are they?
Power lines overhead is NOT a big deal. Most people don't even notice them. Chill out.

Yeah but I'll take pollution over homeless bums we have today!! No comparison in 1978 to 2024.
