I saw what was, I believe, a world premiere of the first all male Swan Lake at the Theatre 'Royal, Plymouth, Devon .by the original touring company starring my Royal Ballet favourite 'Adam Cooper. The performance was spell-binding and the audience erupted in a sea of absolute joy, with many encores. Breath-taking ballet on our doorstep 'who could ask for anything more' !

I first saw it at High Wycombe the original touring company?
    I couldn't breathe.
    It was, literally, breathtaking.
I said there with tears rolling down my face - it was so beautiful.
I has seen many performances of the traditional Swan Lake from being a 10 year old to my now 70th year.
To see the dancing & interpretation to the same music but in such a different way was truly sensational.
Then my friend and I got lost and went in a lift that opened into a corridor full of all the costumes and it was magical.
She was my special friend who I always went to the ballet with. She left us over twenty years ago to join the swans in the sky.
And thus I always think of her whenever I see a Matthew Bourne production.

I saw the original Swan Lake on dvd/parts on tv etc - but last year my daughter and I went to Sadlers Wells and saw a live performance. I can honestly and sincerely say that it was the best live performance I have ever seen in my entire life - 50+ years of bands, ballet, opera, theatre, sport etc. Don't think I can ever watch a classical version again. Coincidentally I am also a massive Swans fan, coming from and living in Swansea, as is my daughter! Totally took our breath away and if it had been possible we would have booked every performance! It remains in my head and in my heart.

I saw it on Broadway on closing night, in 1999. Stunning, heartbreaking, electrifying ... Saw it in DC in 2000. Every bit as wonderful. I will always miss Scott Ambler, but my 2nd-time Prince, James Lovell, was equally enthralling. I got to talk to him afterward and got much food for thought.

I had no idea what it was when I saw it the first time: zilch. I ended up sobbing all the way through the last 15 minutes and beyond: body-shaking sobs!
