I was born in 88, and lived most of my life in Chesapeake. Hell, I still remember when Bergey's had an awesome (house made) ice cream shop in front of Lowes on N Battlefield!

South Norfolk WAS a separate city.. it was originally an overflow from Norfolk but merged with Norfolk County in 1963 to merge as the new City of Chesapeake

You hit the nail on the head mentioning the qwerks of Chesapeake. Another interesting one is the shooting boundary. If you live in some of the rual parts of Chesapeake like hickory, its possible that you may have a hunting enthusiest as a neighbor. I have heard a lot of "gun noise" around hickory, and like the jet noise, it can be surprising. I'm not getting into the politics of it, but what I'm saying is that despite Chesapeake technically being a city, it operates more like a county. While half of the city is developed, the rual half is pretty much the authentic country package.

Great feedback, this is super helpful. The hunting is definitely worth considering, big time!

Chesapeake used to be a county, that's the main reason for the unique dynamic

While that WAS true at a time....there are so many well-to-do families moving into the rural sections now, farms and land are being plowed through for huge gated communities and shopping centers.
They're moving into the area for the rustic feel, but can't realize they're destroying it with too much congestion and "comfort-building" development.

Living in Virginia Beach near Centerville Turnpike and enjoying the Mount Pleasant/Centerville Turnpike area I think you’ve described the importance of that bridge perfectly. Love your videos and I always click the “Like” button and share your videos as well.

Deep Creek Bridge traffic, Deep Creek left the house 😂 My mom lives on Cedar Road, toll or Georgia Washington Highway. I found it economically feasible to just take George Washington to Cedar Road instead of paying the toll 😂 I miss old Deep Creek. I went to the old Deep Creek Jr. High that is abandoned now. I get sad, when I’m stuck in traffic and looking at it.

GW to Cedar makes sense, that's what I do quite a bit. Thanks for the trip down memory lane, too! 😀 Deep Creek has definitely undergone changes over the years.

Lol I just avoid Cedar altogether. It's a hellish road to get through if you just want to go to Great Bridge.

Driving through Chesapeake? You won't have a problem traffic-wise, for the most part, unless maybe a bridge is up, but that would be for a short time.
